  1. Although I never ever drink and drive a zero tolerance is actually too low. Eating dinner could put you over the limit. Here in Ireland they are planning a virtual zero tolerance policy by reducing the blood/alcohol level to 50mg per 100ml for qualified drivers and 20mg for learners, novices and professional drivers such as truck drivers. This means that one unit of alcohol would put you over the limit but a liver pate wouldn't. The current limit is 80mg per 100ml which is the second highest in Europe.

  2. The unique six-spoke design allows more air to reach the carbon-ceramic brakes, keeping them cool and reducing the chance of fade.

I always found it interesting that the Merc SLR's wheels were designed to channel air into the brakes like propeller blades. Never seen anyone else do this and it appears from those pics that Nissan have chosen to increase the size of the gap between the spokes instead.

  3. That's probably it except that one at the time the photos were taken is unregistered.

Was being driven by a bloke who appeared to be unable to find the gas peddle.

I so want one but couldn't justify 125k.

  4. Just spotted a Black 08 GTR in Dublin. Felt sick with jealousy. Obviously an import and the tax had been paid which as you all know is about 33% of the open market selling price after customs duty and VAT is applied bringing the total on the road price to around €110k.

  5. Is this the same for all jap cars then? I was under the impression the xenon headlights were good enough and adding fogs wouldn't make much difference although other cars do have them 'for show' at the front when they're not really necessary.

I'd agree with Nixy. Xenon's are great lights and on the 07 they're even better being bi-xenon. Some Jap car's do have fog lights. Depends on the car obviously. A lot of new cars that have similar lights to the Z have spots on the front instead of fogs because they look good and are used as DRL's.

Over a car's life time fog lights move same as the head light alignment changes. The only difference is nobody ever checks and repositions them so they end up pointing too high. They should be angled at the ground.

  6. For me there’s no point in playing any driving game without a wheel.

Any Logitech wheel will do. I only got the G25 ‘cos I take them game a bit too serious. Don’t want to drive a car with paddle shift that shouldn’t have it.

I only play two games now. GT and GTA. GTA has to be played with the controller. I suppose they might implement the wheel and peddles feature in the new game but there isn’t much point. GTA is more first person (if it moves kill it,) if it doesn’t move shoot it any way) kind of game as opposed to driving simulator.

  7. Just saw this on Topgear.com

    GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi:

"Prologue is the halfway point of what we want to do with the game," says Kazunori. "The other half is our homework from now on."

That homework includes something that GT fans have demanded for, well, ages: damage. As in smashing, crumpling bits of car.

In previous GT instalments, manufacturers have put the kibosh on in-game damage to their cars - bad publicity, apparently - but in the full GT5 you'll be able to dent and mangle the cars to your heart's content. I ask Kazunori if it's a sign of the increasing power that the GT franchise wields.

"Manufacturers are now coming to us, asking us to add their cars to the game, so we're seeing less resistance to in-game damage from the manufacturers," he answers diplomatically. He hesitates. "I'm still not sure they'll be too keen on seeing their cars roll over, though."

  8. We had a similar vid on a communications course we were all forced to go on. It was a bloke in an ape suit that walked across. I cracked up laughing when I saw the ape. Everyone else looked at me and miss counted the passes. I still got the correct answer. :p

  9. Yes it is generally possible to run games like this in an offline state. Depends on what the game does in the background, for example accessing a database, and the amount of effort you are willing to put in.

  10. If using a laptop like me you’ll find yourself using the keyboard more than the mouse to move about web pages.

Hit the home key to go to the top of the current page.

Hit backspace to go back a page or alt and left arrow.

In IE6 (I don’t use 7) hit control and tab to highlight the address bar.

There’s others but they are the ones I use the most.
