The American headlights do indeed have a bulb under the orange strip at the top, the opening under the strip is there on our spec light but would need a custom mount made to house a bulb or led , this would requiring opening up the headlights, I've found the best way to open them is using a heat gun on a medium setting and take your time going round the outer seam heating up the bonding and eventually you will be able to separate the two halfs. the V2 i had , had a fixing at either tip of the base that the body shop had to drill through the boot to attach i would use a tiger seal or stickoflex bonding (same as bodyshops use) rather than a silicone Paul

Might be a bit if hassle mate but splitting it is the way to go Had mine up for £15,000 and not a single bite , by the time I have sold all the parts and returned ut back to oem I wont be far away from that price Wish I had done it sooner
