  1. Plagued by afterthought. So I've bought the 350z space saver fitted into the boot, bought the jack and extending wheel brace, modified the polystyrene storage thingy to fit the latter bits and trial fitted the space saver ......BUT.....didn't check to see if the removed 19" wheel would fit in the boot. Can anyone who has gone this route please confirm that a removed 19" wheel will fit in the boot and allow the boot lid to close., it will save an old man even more work. Thanks in anticipation!
  2. Had a scary experience in mine one day not long after I got it when back end broke away on a slow bend. It was a bit wet at the time but the car in front negotiated the bend no probs. Fitted 20 mm spacers all around and never been troubled since at any speed. The car feels so much more positive in corners and stable on straight roads.
  3. Got. 2004 GT with the standard Bose unit fitted (no sat Nav) Has anyone had success replacing it and can recommend a replacement unit which will slot straight in, work with them steering wheel controls and provide Bluetooth connectivity with my iPhone.
  4. Hi Keyser ..yep the sensors do work but they came close to ending life at the wrong end of my hammer after causing all that bother! GMballistic..without a doubt young man only problem is im a tight old Geordie so what can you do! Angrybiker..that's good thinking that is. Leave the BUGGER lying dead on the road and enjoy life! JurassicZ...now that's more like it.
  5. Decided to fit reversing sensors to my daughters 370. Got a price from the local installer to fit Dolphin rear sensors, £400...eh! Sod that I'm thinking, I'll fit them myself. Undid all the bumper bolts and clips the stripped out all the boot plastic covers and polystyrene storage thingy's, decided on the mounting position, stuck masking tape on the bumper for marking locations and measured out the mounting positions. So far so good! Bearing in mind I've made some daft mistakes with measuring jobs in the past I made sure I measured 3x the twice your supposed to before committing to cutting plastic. With drill in hand my backside began to quiver as I approached the first hole position, then I thought, hang on a mo,better measure just one more time. All still good so committed to cutting the first hole, cut the second hole and waited for the usual after thought to flash into the brain " Oh bugger I forgot to "..... But no! nothing came to mind, great, so cut the other holes, ran the sensor wires to the controller, mounted it and the audible sounder, then decided to test it all before boxing up. As I still had to connect to the reversing light 12v wire and earth I got the wife to put it in reverse so I could locate the right wire (beige apparently) but nothing at all......on any wire! Got the wife to start the car in case the engine had to be running.....again nothing, but this time I mean NOTHING. The car wouldn't start, no lights, no nothing, completely dead. BUGGER, BUGGER, BUGGER what have I done now, I know, I must have left something on and it's drained the battery. Anyway I make the power connections to the sensor box and decide to finish this job before attacking the no power problem. I fit all the nuts, bolts, clips and plastic covers and box it all up again nice and tidy. Right me thinks I'll fit my 350 battery, so I take the battery off (with more than a little struggle, loosing clips down in the engine Etc) connects it to her car...still nothing, completely dead so reconnect her battery and go for a coffee (Now's the time to panic I'm thinking). I'm mentally drained by now, but perceiver cos us Geordies are built that way!!! I try to retrace my steps......... ( took those bots out, then the clips, then the boot plastic covers...........hang on a mo...there was that white plastic box thingy I found behind the offside boot plastic cover, just the other side of the filler cap ???? I thought it must be an automatic filler cover release that hadn't been connected or something. It was a white plastic box with a 3" white plastic shaft sticking out??! I know cos I remember I pulled and pushed on the shaft to see what it did but nothing happened so I moved on with the job in hand, so maybe that had something to do with it. Off with all the nuts, bolts, clips and covers again and Lo an behold there it is! I pull and push on the shaft again but still nothing happened. BUGGER SQUARED!! Anyway I close the boot then try to open it again but nothing it stays shut with my tools inside. I decide to try it again so get in the car and press start.......WOW would you believe it starts!! WHAT THE F---!! Great.....life's worth living again ! I try the boot, it works, I try the windows down then up BUT hang on the drivers door window won't go back up. After fiddling and farting for a while the window goes back up to the top and down and up. GREAT. I get out the car, the window drops 10 mm, I close the door....now it won't lift again....BUGGER CUBED ! Now I'm thinking smart, confused but smart.... I log into the 370 guides, and find a widow reset procedure, window down, window up, hold switch 3 seconds and WOW it works again...MAGIC NO its bloody TRAGIC!! I'm now in the bath soaking my old bones and thinking £400 wasn't such a bad price to pay anyway. How fickle we are. Lesson learnt................until the next time. My next car is going to be 30 yr old Landrover with handles to wind the windows, no computers making life a misery, dents a scratches so I won't worry where I park etc etc. Who invented computers anyway, he should be shot! Complicating life like that. PS...can someone tell me why that plastic box was ever given a role in life....what's it for??? Just to entice then annoy. Can't find anything in the manual!
  6. Thanks for the pics. I asked because I read on PoliceUk.com that the law is happy so long as the tyre doesn't sit proud of the wheel arch. Apparently they are concerned about road crud being thrown onto following vehicles. I am interested but will pm you when I decide. Cheers
  7. The tyre appears to be sticking proud of the wheel arch, can you confirm and if so roughly how much ?
  8. Just a wild guess but could you have a small exhaust leak that could cause this. I suggest this because my mate had an engine warning light come on suggesting a lamda sensor error or cat problem (I don't recall) and the RAC guy told him it was due to a leak in the exhaust. He sorted the leak and no more error codes. Hope it helps!
  9. I had thought about a reversing camera as well but a bit apprehensive about getting it connected to a display. You've answered one of my concerns though in that I would need another head unit, by that I assume it won't connect to the existing sat Nav display. So what's to be done, do you get something to replace the existing display with something that will support the sat Nav and reversing camera or do you have to install separate reversing camera display ?
  10. Cheers Dave, that's a bit of a bugger though. Hoped I might get at the back bumper via the boot plastics.
  11. Anyone fitted front and rear sensors ? Can it be done without removing either of bumpers?
  12. Hi guys, Did your rust stay away after your got this work done? Apologies for late reply, thought the post had ran its course. Yes the jobs still a goodin! No signs of rust yet but I'm sure if I'd gone the filler route I'd have to be starting all over again by now.
  13. Anyone fitted Dolphin sensors? How do you rate them? Can you recommend a better alternative? Any fitting problems ?( front sensors look like a challenge) Cheers
  14. Did you try opening the website from the list of professional-traders on the forums page? It's the 4th one down
  15. I like the looks of them and would appreciate your views on quality. It would also be nice to find out what type of led is used so it can be replaced should one pop. Edit..did the kit include the drop relay etc?
  16. Anyone fitted the Torqen DRL's and can say if they are any good ??
  17. Other way round - I think it is only on the manuals. I have it on mine and it seems that it only kicks on when the car is on or above a certain gradient. I find that certain small hills do not seem to engage the assist, but the steeper hills do. Mine is great, it holds the brake for 2-3 seconds, or until you pull away. It sometimes takes a split second to realise I am trying to pull away before releasing but otherwise its great. Do you get a noise of any kind if you pull away before the time out period??
  18. Jjust shows the operational variability of the system, some work fine other make noises others intermittent operation. I don't want to disable the system, I quite like it, I just want it to operate like our S-max or like Alpinamans. Emailed Nissan yesterday and as usual NO HELP AT ALL!! After going to some length telling them how little confidence I have in my local dealers after years of poor service, what do they advise.....take it to the dealer.
  19. It's strange it's so hit and miss on other 370s. My daughters seems to work every time but it just seems to need a little tweaking to improve it. I might email Nissan to see if I can get some guidance unless a knowledgeable member can share their thoughts.
  20. Well the 2010 Black edition has it, just wish it was better quality. It works every time it's just that it feels like an inferior system compared to the S-max. Descriptions I've read suggest it should hardly be noticeable, if at all. I was hopeing there might be a software fix.
  21. The hill start assist delay from talking my foot off the brake and moving it over to the accelerator seems a bit too long in that I have to either wait a couple of seconds for it to release or I get a squeezing from the rear brakes as I drive forward and it releases. I've looked at the manual and the braking system seems to rely on several types of sensor under computer control, offering what looks like little to no adjustment for the diy'er. Does anyone else experience the same delay/squeal and can this system be adjusted to improve its operation. My wife's S-max has the same system and there's nothing to be heard when pulling away.
  22. Don't believe the manual is available any longer. I've had to revert to my DVD copy.
  23. Anyone know if there's any performance advantage in these or do they just provide aesthetic value
