My insurance is £2300 so yours shouldn't be much different on a GTR They put the black stuff on the car to try and stop photographers getting photo's of their cars before they want the press to have them. Also probably trying to keep things quiet from rival manufacturers

I was just looking at the legal side of insurance not paying out based on this even though my car has an mot for another 11 months. Although saying that, as long as they know about the decats, how can then turn around and say the decats void the insurance? Whatever the rights and wrongs of whether the insurance company will pay out since you basically have an illegal car - even though they know about it, I think you are asking for trouble posting up that you have the car set-up this way, It's only asking for the cops to pull you over IMO. [As an aside, would this leave your wife in an awkward position being that she is a copper] Its an intersting thread, but if it were me, I'd ask for it to be removed now TBH I can't see the police trawling this forum and getting excited over a thread called "Has anyone decatted their Zed?". We know the police do look at the forums but they won't be reading every post and I suspect they're looking for "Wasted a 911 on the M4..." or "Hit 100 in Chester City Centre" type threads. Anyone know different? According to my Mrs, the police don't have enough officers on the beat so not sure how they could spare officers to trawl the net trying to nick people for 'potential' crimes that they have no evidence of. I'm sure if someone posted a video of them doing 150 mph and someone forwarded it to the police, i could see them then having a nose about buts thats it imo

Thats pretty much what i thought, I expected to se it in about 12 months. If mh are importing JDM GTR's here for £55k then how much will they be over here as UK cars??

Just for the record. My GT4 needed replacement struts after 12 months as the tailgate wouldn't fully open due to the Nismo spoiler and that was a factory fit

I think I have shortish legs and long body, so the legroom is ok for me. It's the VX220 Turbo I'm looking at, so much quicker than the Elise. I possibly would have an Elise if it wasn't for the stupid K series engine popping its gasket every few miles Imrans VX was red

Ok, your insurance know the car is decatted, but do they know thats its probably not road legal due to the emmissions you are now producing? Had my Tubi zorst fitted yesterday and had it decatted at the same time. Posted the details on another site and a few people have said that they would never decat theirs as it will void the insurance due to being non road legal now! Very confusing....... dont worry mate , the insurance co. will never know if you dont tell 'em But what if i smash it up, they send it to lambo for an inspection and find there's no cats......

Pretty sure that Ian has decatted his zed but has anyone else? Does the fact that the car won't now pass an MOT make it not road legal and hence then mean that your insurance is void?

I'm sure others will be along to give their opinion, but if it were me, i would change both for a new pair of the same make. Ideally you would buy a used bridgestone with exactly same level of wear as your other one but where are you going to find one like that? And would you trust buying a used tyre for a 280 bhp RWD car?

Don't do it! Do not mix brands on the same axle and defo do not mix tyres of different tread depths! If one needs replacing they both do otherwise you'll have different grip levels on each side and will play havoc with the ESP
