Whats going on in Geneva exactly? Is this what Digsy went to last year? I fancy popping if its some kind of car show. Flights should be cheap as my flight to Geneva in Jan was only £3.99 Geneva is one of the biggest motorshows in the world! Most car companies unviel there new cars there. Others that spring to mind are Detroit and Toyko. For some reason I had heard about the other two just not the Geneva one....

  9. Your probable right. Although a gallardo has been round there in 1:37 in the wet: 1) Middlec (Westfield Mega Busa) 1:24.2 2) Rezzie (Ferarri 430) 1:28.0 3) Duncan C (Dax Rush Hayabusa Turbo) 1:30.2 (w) 4) Pvapour (Maserati 4200 Sypder) 1:33.0 5) Steve H (Porsche 997 Cab 2S) 1:33.4 6) Peter M (Merc CLK AMG) 1:35.8 7) PCM (Suburu WRX Sti Type R) 1:36.5 8) Squirejo (Lambo Gallardo) 1:37.0 (w) 9) Rezzie (Ferarri 360) 1:38.2 (f) 10) Sarnie (Nissan 350Z) 1:39.2 11) David T (Porsche Boxter) 1:40.7 (f) 12) Diceman (Noble M400) 1:41.9 (w) 13) Agent Orange (Porsche 993 GT2 CS) 1:42.0 (w) 14) Morgy (Atom 275) 1:45.0 (w) 15) Madras (Honda NSX 3.0) 1:45.6 16) StevenG (Supercharged Nissan 350Z) 1:46.7 (w) 17) Mini_ralf (Mini Cooper S) 1:50.2 (f) 18) Neil (Lancia Integrale Evo 2) 1:50.2 19) JP7152 (BMW E36 M3) 1:50.4 20) Spartacus (TVR Cerbera) 1:52.8 (w) So I'd like to think I could get round there quicker than that if its dry, maybe even around 1:34-35 ???

Well his last sentence says it all really. There is plenty of time for grey imports to make an impact buuuuuuut the price of the imports are seriously going to put most people off. Importing a zed was always attractive cos of the savings, but with the GT-R your not saving hardly anything, just getting the car early. Import prices of cars already here in the uk will plummet as soon as Q4 of 2008 arrives. I estimate that to get anyone to buy an import off you at that time, so close to the uk launch, you would have to let it go for about £40k to tempt somebody. Now thats supercar depreciation for you. I could be totally wong though but the figures don't add up to me. In the summer of 2009 there will be uk GT-R's available, used, with uk service packs and support for less than £50k assuming a £55k starting price. Looks like I'll be waiting.......
  11. PS: Where did you get this and what is it supposed to represent?
  12. About £150-£350 for the dealer, a stamp in your service book for you and bugger all else really
  13. It won't matter, he won't beat my time full stop.
  14. I was stopped at the time and my speed was unable to be quantified.
  15. I reckon with a couple of days there, getting to know the car and track more and more I reckon a regular driver could get down to about 1:37. The main reason I say this is that I did 5 laps above 1:40 and I wasn't hanging around. I know how hard I had to push myself and the car to squeeze out a 1:39.2 so I reckon shaving another 3 seconds off would take a good few day sessions if possible. A massive element though is how far your prepared to push the car. I was happy to get off the track in one piece. If you watch stig's laps, he cuts the corners and goes on the grass on the last couple of corners cos he don't give a **** about the car cos it ain't his. That attitude alone must be worth 2-3 secs over the owner driver.
  16. I got that, and still get that now. i was on a housing estate, but had to go up a steep hill, because i had to give it abit more throttle and it was at a point where the exhaust drones i got loads of abuse from two blokes coming back from the pub or something "theres bloody kids down here!!" must have been around 12 midnight and i was doing around 20mph at the most. Couldnt believe it. They automatically asume that because theres a hint of noise coming from your exhaust you must be speeding I've had that with a standard exhaust people waving their arms at me to slow down and i was only doing 30mph ! I got pulled in the G string because it sounded like I was speeding even thought the copper didn't see me * ewwww speeding in a G string , you should lube up well incase of chaffing mate
  17. A mosaic page, say on the back or last page, of every photo entered would ensure everyone buys one I would of thought. Hell i'd buy one if my (old) car was in it

Ok, so its gonna be £47-£50k to get one here and on the road. Anything above those figures is going direct to the importer. I've seen some importers selling them for £55k which is a healthy £5k profit on each car. If one could be on the road for about £47k then I may be interested but I can't see happening with the demand that there is for the car. If I don't buy an import I'll keep the G for another 18 months I reckon.
