I checked this out including a chat with Jez at Horsham and I have no reason to believe it is not genuine as he has carried most of the work on the car.  More details on the 'other channel' ;)  I now understand the reference to the seller's father from conversation, that can easily be verified by a little research elsewhere.

     

    The issue about what the number plate is worth I took with a pinch of salt - seemingly someone with more money than sense was offering to buy it for his Nismo GTR......hmmmmm.

     

    What bothered me was the hi-flow cats that would likely fail the MOT and that would mean remaps to reinstall the OEM cats and take them off again, given that the OEM cats soon break up with FI.  The clutch and noise level also figured in my decision for everyday use, being helped by someone who has good experience in FI installs in Zeds, so I did not pursue a viewing.  Not having either the space or desire to do cat changes together with the increased running/maintenance costs costs and the fact much of the car would no longer be covered by warranty was too much for me, once my head kicked in over my heart.  Edit: Oh, and the fact the tyres were likely to need an upgrade did not help.

     

    It maybe the considerations I mention as well as the ad content and surprising price asked are deterring interest when you estimate the new car cost + mods.  But you can find out the car has been for sale for some while now and potential interest is going to be very limited and hopefully is bought by a true ZED enthusiast.

     

    But for someone with bigger balls and pockets than me who wants to check it out further........?

    Just saying.......... before the inevitable and noting it is obviously now stopping others contributing in case their opinions get  torn to shreds or ridiculed by those perceived as know-it-alls.

    Kinda reminds me (off the top of my head) about the French going bonkers at the thought of the Eiffel Tower being built; concerns about building Concorde; The London Eye; Channel Tunnel, etc etc

     

    and then the Teslas......yes I could not buy one all the while I have my hearing, aside from the current cost, but the guy is pushing the boundaries in power technology that less than a decade ago most thought would not be possible and whether we like it of not it is clear the combustion engine days are numbered as we see the big car manufacturers and even the performance car makers jumping on the E bandwagon.

     

    It's a shame not more of those who stack up billions in wealth do not invest in more projects of those who have great ideas but not the funds to take them forward.  At least Elon backs up his talk.

    Yes, Mike had a change of job and moved to East Anglia but has popped in here and not heard that he has sold his Azure 350 - always looked stunning.

     

    Sarnie - well he has probably made his first billion by now :lol: - and here is his latest wheels - well it was last May.....

    Talking of Mike and Sarnie I was looking back through recently at some of the drive-outs to find a pic or two - sadly bloody Photobucket has robbed us of a lot of history :rant:, but did come across this pic in their respective Zeds in 2006, with an admirer!

  6. Couple of questions.

     

    1) Can you remind me if there is a way, having scrolled down a thread to hit a return 'button' to the top of the thread, rather than scrolling all the way back and/or review the decision that prevents the index sliding down with scrolling?

     

    2) The search function rarely produces results when I know there has been a lot of discussion about toipics, but after doing some googling I usually find what I am after.  Is there a particular format when using the search function on here that might be more successful?

     

  7. You will find the answers on this thread at posts 37, 127 and 157, as regards those 370 models which were included in the recall and that was for those made up to the end of 2010. See: http://ww2.justanswer.co.uk/uploads/MU/05muranosl/2014-01-30_155727_steeringlock.pdf

     

    2013+ 370 models do not have the steering lock fitted, so the 'issue'  should not apply....unless someone knows otherwise.  But it appears some 370's between 2011 and 2013 have also been affected but not covered by the original recall.....Whether a goodwill payments are still being paid, I suspect might be doubtful.

     

    For the pre-2013 models the advice to avoid being stuck is remove the appropriate fuse - but make sure you follow the correct procedure. (There is guide somewhere on here)**. I'm sure I recall at least one owner saying their replacement lock had failed!  So doing the fuse trick is the safest way to avoid a very nasty bill and given Nissan decided in 2013 the locks were not necessary and has not affected the Thatcham security (for insurance purposes).

    You have to pull the fuse after you get the SLU to let the car go to ON or ACC. If the SLU is not making the microswitches properly, it does no good to pull the fuse.

     

    If, like the OP, your lock try wiggle shaking and banging the crap out of it to jar it loose first. Blow a heat gun/hairdryer on it if its cold etc. You only need it to disengage one last time. Some have luck tapping it with a little hard object like a SMALL hammer or screwdriver. My understanding from reading various threads over the pond is that over-lube inside causes failure of some plastic bits and the little gear teeth fail then get hung up. Tapping might get it one last time, then once its unlocked you can pull the fuse and save a lot of money and a wasted day or two.

    Was thinking of doing that on my garage, even for my relatively small '45, but then I thought the limited door opening would make sure I keep my weight down :lol:

     

    But did add a door buffer with marks for the door opening so I know where the car should be relative to the garage door.  Adapted the garage to also be used as a garden room (hence the French doors) when our great British weather dictates a need to retreat for cover :snorkel:

    Are you sure?  To my mind the lesser diameter caused by the lower tyre height means the relative centre compared to the higher tyre diameter is lower and thus the wheel arch (and of course the car body itself) drops a corresponding amount. Think of a extreme example - if you put a set of 12" wheel/tyres on the front (forget the aesthetics!:lol:) the whole bodyshell would clearly be angled upwards to the rear.    Maybe it is getting too late....:surrender:

  10. Long list there but I'm just going to give you a heads up (in case you have not picked up on the issue) about checking that the shipment spacers have been removed from the springs - far too many new 370's are being handed over without that work being done.

     

    See the thread here here and in particular 5tu's pics where you can see the offending items at the top of the springs each side.  DO NOT TAKE THE SALESMAN'S WORD FOR IT - either check for yourself or maybe better ask to be shown they have ,on a ramp.

     

     

    I'm out of touch with the latest gizmo's offered on 370s but as regards cleaning I find the Poorboys stuff is ideal after trying various other products on the several white cars in our household in recent years:

    The great thing with white is that you really have to look hard to see swirls - yes they are there but as we all black cars look absolutely stunning when freshly clean but first use and that 'gloss' goes whereas with white it just seems not to show the 'dirt' as much.

     

     

     

     

     

  11. As regards where the speedo takes it reading, I recall this being explained some time ago but had to research and 'PHUNKS' post on the link says it is from the rear axle sensors - so unless anyone knows different.......?

    To be honest about the speedo reading  it seems that many cars 'over-read' the true speed and from what I experienced and have read the 350/370s are no exception.  During my time with my second 350 and he 370 and now with the A45 i have used a Snooper and found the GPS speed reading on that far more reliable - i.e been past endless number of static Gatso's several mph over the 350/370 speedo reading but within the GPS reading so far without picking up a ticket. Interestingly, the A45 speedo reading (analogue and digital) is spot on with the Snooper, but no idea where it takes its reading.

     

    I have never up-sized the tyres on any of the Zeds as for me I believe the standard tyre sizes work perfectly well for road use 24/7 and pushing the cars on my favourite country roads, but conscious that whilst fatter tyres may be great in dry conditions whilst in the wet they may be more 'testing' to my liking than I would feel comfortable with.

     

    Not sure your measurement about the "front wheel arch gap" is correct, as the fact the height of the front end of the car on the axle must drop with a smaller diameter tyre  - would it not be half the  12.5 mm you quote?

    I have read on here that some owners on here with the later 370's/Nismos have opted for the 245/35/19 in both MPSS and MP4s and not reported any issues.  Indeed,  I ran the 35 profiles on my 370 for a while and no issues/unexpected traction lights whatsoever, and included some spirited drive-outs in Wales  ;):D

     

    Of course, no issue on the rears keeping to the standard OEM size

    I have never driven a car with run-flats that lets face it are primarily designed for that purpose and not the best driving experience - hence I would never, ever have on a car I owned.

     

    Wholly wrong to IMHO to put these on Nismo, IMHO

     

    And agree with Ekona, in the light of that info.
