  1. If you are going PC, you don't have to go as full bore on the rest of the equipment - the sound quality of compressed files will mean the ability of the speakers and amps will be so much above the signal you won't be getting the best out of them. If you are building your own PC, you could use something like an Alpine touchscreen unit on it's own in the standard location. Given the slightly different size screens you won't find a 'vanilla' fascia for a screen, you would need a custom mount made up. Double DIN stereos will fit in. However, some won't where they are so deep and cuboid that they catch in the top edge. A touch screen on it's own to control the PC would fit as it's mounting depth would be much less. Components such as amps, cabling, sound proofing, sub box, speakers etc. are all dependant on budget and installation. Being how much do you want to spend and how much can you do yourself? HTH
  2. Sounds like the Megs, AG and Sonus stuff as a general rule, thanks guys and gals. Will pick up whatever I see first I think!
  3. Then you've answered your own question bud, if you've never bothered before why start now. Try it with a cheapo and see how you go.
  4. Nice looking Zed - Welcome to the site.
  5. I used to use Autoglym stuff and thought it was good. But it does flick up the side of the car a lot! Just wondering what has come out in the last few years - have tried none of them!
  6. haha, not a clue, but its all digital so all the same thing. This is coming from the main wiring guy here at MTV, who has been working with electronics for about 50 years, so its a good source. the only difference may be durability, however once its connected, its connected so i wouldnt worry about that. Read and make up your own mind. Just my opinion bud. Take a look on the whathifi forums and see all the talk about HDMI cables there. The nature of compression etc. means it's not 'just' a digital signal going down it. Go with what you're happy with. I'm happy to pay the dollar as long as its actually better. No point if its not though And you've stumbled onto something that is a long on-going 'debate' point. Lots of people claim 'it's digital so it's either on or it's off', others feel since it is a cable and the nature of how information passes along it, there are differences. IMO, between the right and wrong cables there is a difference. With HD it is about sharpness and stability, something the connections play a big part in. A cheaper but very good cable is the Cambridge Audio HDMI, £30. But if you don't think you'll be able to tell the difference, it isn't worth it.

  9. I haven't used tyre dressing for a few years since competing. And I stopped because I was fed up with every time I got home from a show it was always up the car!! Now I am going to shows again, I should get some. Any recommendations?? And I will try and remember to wipe it off before setting off again!
  10. Looking very shiny there bud.
  11. stick your tongue on the + terminal, see if you get a tingling feeling

    Another Newbies New Z!!!

Looking good. A cleaned Zed, with 'spirited driving aftermath' shots.
  13. you can't get a conversion lead as the early Xbox360 output board doesn't have a digital output. They changed the output board later and put in the HDI socket on. So Sarnie, no, you need to ditch the poverty model 360 and get a new one! As for the cable stuff, it's also down to what they support. The tip of the iceberg..... http://whathifi.com/home-cinema/archive ... s-aim.aspx
  14. On the 360? Doesn't sound like it. What does it say it is in the manual? Then you will need a XXXX - HDMI lead to connect the 360 to the screen.
  15. Which is why the QED at £50 tends to come out best. Money doesn't always equal a decent product so the tests come in handy to make sure you don't get ripped off.
  16. How do you mean? It still has two connectors and requires shielding from the equipment. Agreed shorter cables will be cheaper, get the best you can afford. The QED Qunex is good tho.
  17. Ok so my PS3 has a HDMI output, so I need one of these I assume: http://www.digitaldirect.co.uk/products ... ct_id=6455 (£55 ) My Xbox may be one of the original ones as its output has a switch on it to switch it to HDTV. Although there is a USB shaped slot above where the internet cable goes but its not labelled. Is this the HDMI socket? Expect to spend about 10% of the value of the equipment being connected to match a cable (roughly) - the sound and picture difference between cables will be the difference between buying a Pana screen and something for £300 from Asda. What does the destruction manual say the port is for the XBox?
  18. The reset guide for the Throttle Position Sensor is also in the guides section. Hope it's nothing too dramatic....
  19. Looking good Tim. Haven't done mine in a while, and had no time over the weekend. Might have to start tonight......

    Welcome to the site.
  21. Hi and welcome to the site.
  22. Serious money chucked at that. Some high end gear in it too! I love the single wiper conversion that still has the second wiper there.
  23. Couldn't agree more. Morons.
  24. Cool. So will I have to buy a HDMI cable for my PS3 and Xbox360 or will I already have one that each console came with that I'm not currently using? How do I ensure I get the best picture when watching normal TV? Will I need a HDMI for my sky box? Or if I upgrade it to SkyHD, I'd assume it would come with that? Check how many HDMI inputs the screen has. Pana's normally have 3 nowadays, but you will need one for each console yes. And it is worth getting a decent cable (something like a QED). Check what the output plug is on the console as well - you might need something other than an HDMI - HDMI lead. I think the TV has 3 HDMI Connections: http://www.digitaldirect.co.uk/products ... t_id=15918 I assume that the PS3 and Xbox360 has HDMI outputs based on what others have said on this thread. If the TV has 3 HDMI sockets, two for the consoles, would the third be used by my sky box or would I still connect that to the TV with a scart socket? If you have got Sky HD then use the third HDMI for that.
