  1. Only the GForce cars went bang, WRCT have been fine so far at the full fat 8psi of boost. We still dont know what caused those cars to go, although I have a few ideas as you know Dorian. I never had any issues running 9 psi on my standard internals. I do think that the APS kit has had a bad rap for what is really an isolated installer issue. Anyway, back on topic!
  2. The turbos develop so much more torque so much lower down the rev range. The Vortech in comparison is very agricultural, its noisey, makes alot of dust and doesnt feel anywhere near as quick as the TT setup (even in standard form). Dont get me wrong, the Vortech is a good bit of kit, and good value. But the APS kit is a different animal altogether, in terms of quality and how the car feels and drives. You really have to rev the nuts of the Vortech to get any decent power, as it builds it in a linear fashion, peaking at the redline. I was never satisfied with its performance, thats why I changed to the TT setup. But, you get what you pay for, and like I say, for 5k or so, you cant knock the Vortech.
  3. Mine ran fine with no mapping, its a pretty safe kit out of the box. I ran the following, Vortech 1 Step colder plugs Nismo exhaust (JIC Y pipe) Resonated Decat pipes No problems at all.
  4. I must admit, PC's are far superior for strategy games, the use of a keyboard and mouse make that kind of thing much easier to handle. You cant beat consoles for value and knowing that its going to play the same quality wise as your mates machine, and will work on your console without having to buy new parts just to make a game run.
  5. Ive got the titanium shifter in mine, I really like it. Shortens the throw a bit, and feels more precise than the big standard one. Not bloody cheap though!
  6. Isnt peak torque right up the rev range on that kit?
  7. Dont really know yet, we'll have to take it as it comes. Drives just like a standard car, engine is very smooth and quiet. Only goes as fast as you make it. Boost controller is switched off at this time of year as well.
  8. Thanks very much fella's, Im very happy with it now. Suspension needs some tweaking once its dry, as the torque really makes it wag its tail when you nail the throttle (havent been past 12 psi yet either!) Will get the corner weights adjusted in spring time to dial that out.
  9. Dorians right, the split second box is a decent piece of kit. Speaking to my builder/tuner, 9-11:1 is shockingly rich, alot of danger of washing the bores out with that kind of fuel in there. The yanks do tune their cars far too richly. Definitely a good idea to get a tune in there to get the maximum power/minimum risk out of your kit.
  10. Yeah no probs mate. I'll be at some of the meets next year no doubt. Wish I knew how fast it was on full boost, havent been able to use it at full whack yet, have to wait for spring for that.
  11. Not at all, I wouldnt get too hung up single or true dual for a supercharger, any good flowing exhaust will be fine. Its only really important on twin turbo setups.
  12. Heres the proper torque performance as per the engine dyno. The only reason we couldnt get the true power figure on the engine dyno was due to the lack of wheel speed sensor input to the ECU, it kept bringin the limiter in at just under 6k RPM, so the dyno allowed full sweep of the RPM range to see what peak power was.
  13. Should be easier to read like this.
  14. Heres the dyno chart. Ignore the torque curve, its all to pot on this power run, as you can see by the curve which is totally different to how the car produces torque. Its quite difficult to get an accurate torque figure on the rollers without doing left foot braking to try and get some steady state conditions. I already have the torque figure confirmed on the engine dyno, I just needed to see what peak HP was.
  15. Its not a complicated system, in fact the front end is as basic as it gets. Be much better when they release the new software, as the hyperterminal stuff is stoneage. Very good unit though. You wont go far wrong with any of those tuners, and with it being N/A, you cant do much damage. The knock control is very good on the system.
  16. Same tuner that built my engine. Who's tuning your UTEC? Thor?
  17. I'll get my scanner sorted and post em up.
  18. Update: Car put on dyno for map tweaking, final result.... 531 bhp, 520 lb/ft torque @ 1 bar boost pressure.
  19. Very very deep, gorgeous growl. Very loud as well.
  20. No, the 3". They dont do a 3.5", they do a twin 3" with optional 3.5" dowpipes that fit the turbo housing. Its a twin canister setup, slightly similar looking to the HKS I suppose.
  21. They do a 3" exhaust, and 3.5" turbo downpipes to compliment it. I hear it every time i drive my car, sounds amazing.
  22. Yeah, I'd agree with that Dorian. Although with turbo's the bigger the pipe diameter the better really, zero back pressure is the aim. Although, 2.5" is plenty for lower boost applications. True dual isnt essential for superchargers, as stated. Best get the advice in as quick as possible, as this thread will no doubt get locked.
  23. If you cant afford to do the exhaust, you shouldnt even be considering FI. True dual isnt essential for superchargers, as they arent as back pressure dependent as turbo's, but something free flowing is a must.
