  1. Did the ECU's get swapped too as they are different - I'd look here first If not that then the symptoms also suggest low oil pressure, how does the oil pressure gauge look?
  2. Just an FYI the ones you've linked there are copies of QuikLatch - I'd definitely recommend going for the ones from the original company. They won't stop the bonnet from deflecting as I went through the same thought process when I installed them but you do get a bit more peace of mind
  3. Having owned both they're both really fun cars and not very expensive in the grand scheme of things, however in the modern day they just don't keep up with modern cars, even the supercharged 370z I had struggled to keep up with mapped non-m beamers (B58s etc), and those are falling into the price range of 370z's and cleaner 350z's, while having better interiors and fuel economy. The only real reason to have a Z now is if you specifically like them
  4. The end of an era. Yesterday the new owner came and bought the Z, it's weird how cars can hold so much emotional value and this almost feels like losing a friend. I've given the new owner the link to this thread, if he'd like to keep it up to date that's up to him - I wish him all the best and I know that he'll have an amazing time owning this absolute gem. Farewell my fairlady...
  5. Haven't updated a thread in a long time as the car had no problems to fix and was in a state I was happy with mod-wise, so here's a few of my favourite pictures of the last 6 months:
  6. Welcome mate, don't see many clean verts around look forward to seeing what you do with it First step should be some nice wheels I'd imagine, your welcome to use my build thread as inspo on what not to do aha
  7. Looks class, big fan of keeping the boot useable, like you've done here
  8. There are aftermarket immobilisers as an option too (if you were to go with the hdev option), or just "forget" to inform them that it isn't there anymore... There are locksmiths in the UK that do work with the JDM frequencies that I've ran into at carshows
  9. Shared between me and my mates, and still far from finished
  10. Nürburgring The car held up amazingly - all the issues I had prior to the trip were gone and had an absolute blast driving around the ring and doing some legal motorway pulls in the car, couldn't of gone any smoother in all honestly and such a breath of fresh air after the painful ownership I've had of the car leading up to this. It definitely punched above its weight keeping up with more modern and more expensive cars, unfortunately still couldn't hold a candle to my friends built evo 8 aha Here's some pics
  11. Late update: circa august Added hoodpins - went for the QuikLatch ones as I didn't really think it needed them but would rather have them and not need them than need them and not have them
  12. To continue in preparation for the road trip I did a full brake fluid flush with Motul RBF660. I didn't have a pressure bleeder so I had to do it with the car on to get everything out. Attached a pic of some of the old fluid - should've taken one off of the first bit as that was worse than this
  13. Front hubs changed, really easy to do if you use a solid punch to work them off slowly. Cleaned up the surface with a wire brush and put on some copper grease.
  14. Did a big service prior to the Nürburgring trip, this included removing the supercharger to do a belt and fluid change, doing an oil and oil filter change on the car (including draining the oil coolers to get everything out) and changing the alternator and serpentine belt.
  15. Small break from working on the car to show that me and my friends installed a lift for the group in one of our garages Took a lot of work and long days and nights but here's the finished results:
  16. The cars been having starting trouble for a while so I ordered an OEM starter from hitachi and fitted it. Luckily due to it being RHD I didn't have to jack up the engine to get around anything and it was able to come straight out. After that I fitted a Z1 Motorsports Undertray - I've used the other aluminium undertrays on the market and I've got to say this one is far better build quality
  17. Time for some maintenance prior to my trip to the Nürburgring, especially since I've owned it for nearly a year now and after a long road trip. First up is cleaning the MAFs and Throttle bodies and doing an idle reset.
  18. Yep had them made to my specifications and even received videos of them being made, they're forged and are surprisingly light considering how massive the rear ones are at 11j
  19. Following on from the last post I was finally able to dial in my alignment. I've gone for: Front: -3 camber 8 caster 0 toe Rear: -2 camber 0 toe I want to see how the car handles on this set up first before dialling in anymore camber, caster or toe From a quick drive around local country lanes this has really brought the car to life and I wish I did it sooner.
  20. With the Nürburgring trip closing in its time to prepare the car, its already had wheels, tyres and brakes, time for something usually overlooked, camber. I attempted to get an alignment prior to the Poland road trip, but my front upper control arms were seized so couldn't. I've opted to replace them with the Z1 Motorsports race versions. During install I had to loosen the coil over to install them, unfortunately one of the coil over bolts sheered. Luckily, it was an easy fix to get a replacement stud from BC and a couple days later I could fix the issue.
  21. Have I fixed all of the cars issues? no. Did I buy new wheels instead of addressing said issues? Absolutely I did. In terms of tyres I kept my 255/35 Pilot Sport 4S but at the rear I wanted to try the Continental Sport Contact 7s and so far I have to say they're a better tyre albeit I am now running a wider tyre at 305/30. Fitment is bang on. I could've specified a more aggressive offset on the rear imo. My wheels specs are: Front: 19x9.5et22 Rear: 19x11et22 (I wish I went for et15)
  22. In the process of finding the brake parts I found out some background on the car - it was originally owned by Frazer@ART and was the demo car for his big brake kit, he unfortunately didn't have the drawings for what was needed but he did send me some pics of what the car used to look like
  23. Next up we've got brakes, I think the track time at silverstone took its toll on these discs which were already on their way out and this trip finally sent them to their grave - it was incredibly hard to find all the info I needed for what pads and discs work with this BBK because as far as I'm aware - this is either the only one or one of the only ones around (more info on this on another post). So I gave it some GTR 380mm brembo discs and some EBC bluestuff pads, as you can probably see the new stuff is in way better condition
  24. Next it was time to address some issues I found during the trip, there was a misfire low in the RPMs (around 2.5-3k rpms) so I replaced both CAM Position sensors and the crank position sensor - the crank sensor especially looked really worse for wear
