Like I said it was just a curiosity...
-
Aye, I was grasping at straws that someone would have dyno readings from the one car on the same dyno over time. Guess it was a bit of a long shot haha
-
Just as a curiosity, I know engines can lose power through the years so I'm wondering is there any rough rule of thumb of how much power a VQ loses over it's lifetime? Be interesting to see if anyone has a few dyno read outs of their car over time.

OK, this strut doesn't doesn't seem to be fitting correctly on the ball joint. It looks like it needs to be pushed further in for the spring to fit but I can't get it to go any further. Would I be safer taking the bracket off and seating the ball joint and then bolting it back onto the car rather than fitting the bracket to the car and then trying to seat the ball joint?
-
I'm guessing I need to put the strut on the ball joint and then try to get the wee clip/spring back in? I seem to be having trouble getting it into the hole once it's pushed onto the ball joint
-
I swapped the bracket around but the boot strut keeps popping off the ball joint on the bracket when opening and closing the boot a few times. It doesn't seem like it's going all the way in, any hints/ideas?

I'd be more worried with it burning it than leaking it, the V6 lumps are pretty good when it comes to being sealed. But yes, cardboard is a good idea and an easy thing to do.
What would the normal rate of oil consumption be for a DE?
-
I took the reading again this morning after it sat overnight before adding any oil and the reading was at the green mark level again so I'm hoping the reading was accurate. I'll try sticking some cardboard under it tonight just to check it's not leaking out anywhere.

That's great, thanks for your advice with this!

Should I stick another 0.5 in it, or should it be fine as it's just above the L?
-
It should be getting a full service this week, I'm just looking to make sure it's not running below the L (or above H for that matter) until then.
-
I know this topic been slightly done to death...crap dipstick design etc. but I got a Z last week and went to check the oil last night and it seem well below the L mark to me but as you know it's a bit of a pain, I put a litre in this morning but the level doesn't seem to have risen all that high (about double what it was to be fair) but I've begun to doubt myself that much I'd just like a second opinion that I'm not reading this wrong and sticking far too much oil in....
The green line is roughly where I thought the oil level was yesterday and the red line is where I'm assuming the level is today. (I should note the car had only been sitting about 1.5-2 hours today when that level was taken)

That's great guys, many thanks!!

Thanks guys, do both of these need flipped or is it just the one on the bigger gap side?
-
Does this look incorrect? This is the side the bigger gap is at.

I just picked my 350Z up from a dealer earlier today but tonight I noticed that the gap between the boot and the roof are not the same, I've attached to pictures to show what I mean. It's the upper corners of the boot lid, those "wing" like ends where they meet the boot just above the side windows - hopefully that makes sense....
The boot struts had been replaced by the dealer before picking the car up but I cannot remember if the gap was present before they were replaced or not.

That's great, thanks for the help guys.

I'm hopefully picking up my Z tomorrow and I know it's fitted with factory Xenon's, I've came across some places stating the only the low bean is Xenon while the main beam bulb is a normal Halogen? Is this true?
Also as a side not are Xenon and HID interchangeable terms?

Nope, I already have one. It was purely academic curiosity.
