  1. Got a japspeed y pipe mated to a cobra resonated and want a bit more sound, but don't want to chop the centre resonator out!

On a budget as I've already spent a fair bit on the Z this year... bloody cars

  2. Yeah my mate can fabricate whatever you want. He'd just need to order bits in etc... It's Powerflow Shrewsbury (Mr Tyre)

Well that's nearly 4 hours drive from me! But I do have a powerflow close by so will definitely look into it! Have fun making noise

  3. Cheers guys, although I have just taken delivery of all my servicing stuff today, I ordered castrol edge 5w 30 fully synthetic as that's what Iv used in my last 3 cars and I think its a decent quality and not cheap at £50 for 4 litres (I got it for 37 though in a sale)

I'm about to change my gearbox, diff and engine oil, flush my brake fluid, put yellowstuff pads in and change spark plugs.

Just wondering how I add the Mollyslip to my gearbox?? Can I mix it with the oil then use a big syringe thing to put it in my box, or put oil in 1st then add the molyslip??

Also do I i use the full tube of molyslip??

    I appreciate the help chaps..

I hope you know that the zed will take near on 5 litres of oil for an engine oil change?

The molyslip comes in a tube with a screw on nozzle so can be squeezed straight in the gearbox easily enough, along with nearly 3 litres of gear oil. You could mix the molyslip with the oil in the bottle too if you wanted but it will all get mixed up anyway :)

Ask if you need anymore help

  4. That's definitely a good price. ;)

Years ago when I had a Subaru Impreza I had mine done at Kwik Fit (I'd never normally go to them) as they had an offer on at the time plus if the AC wasn't 10% colder afterwards then you pay nothing.

Luckily for me it wasn't 10% colder when they checked after recharge so I paid nothing, ...drove a few miles down the road and all of a sudden blistering cold air was blowing out (definitely over 10% colder). Free recharge. :D

That worked out the best deal then! Even cheaper recharge ;)

  5. Cool. Ive done all of the main mods bar headers, inc uprev...but youre right, i was finding it very hard to believe you can gain 30hp just from that...it works as a package. What did you pay for your CAI reecey?

Think mine was £179 came with a nice heat shield too, seems quite well made. The mishimoto website said gains of 11hp and 13tq on standard map but I think that's a bit of marketing bs... People seem to like the popcharger intake, think they're only £145 and they're one of the loudest ones ;)

  6. No way 30hp for any of the zeds no matter what CAI you get.

As veeg33 said, you'll be lucky for 5-10hp gain after a remap (uprev).

Plenum spacer seems to be the best bang for bung mod

I've got a mishimoto induction kit just for the deeper intake sound :p

  7. My '54 Z with 69k miles has just started to click, unsure if it has done before... But will be trying this as soon as I get a chance as it seems to have good success rates! Anyone had the click come back???

Hello guys. I am new to Zed ownership and new to the forum. It seems like a fantastic guide. However i own a 2006 350z and this clicking has only just started. I am fairly competent with cars but noises make me anxious lol. Newbie asf questions

    1) am i going to be ok driving it like this until i have time to fix

    2) can anyone recommend the right tools for getting wheel bolts off, axle bolt off etc

    3) recommendation on grease

    4) Particular area to apply grease to? photo?

    4) Any Nissan/ Jap specialists near Berkshire? RG18

    Thanks

If you go back through the post (maybe on the first page) there's a photo showing the two areas to grease, it's the collar of the shaft not the actual spline that needs greasing which means it doesn't need to be removed completely. I've been recommended a good quality EP2 grease which is nice and thick, not like the type of thin stuff most garages use.

Use normal socket set tools to get the wheel off (+ locking wheel nut key obviously) and then a 32mm (1 1/4") socket for the centre nut once the wheel is off.

If you have the basic tools and a basic knowledge of using a socket set then you should be fine!

  8. Tyres are one of those things to not be scimped on IMO. They are the first and last thing connecting you to the road buddy.

Its a good idea to do some research for your own peace of mind, as various different brands have different side wall strengths, compound and how long they last under normal driving conditions. I personally run the Hankook V12s and have no complaints about them at all.

All tyres will have ratings on them, very similar to your electrical appliances rated from A - E for wet grip, fuel economy and road noise :)

My dad runs them Hankook's on his BMW M's and he swears by them! I am just after the best tyres for the value and I couldn't justify the price differences on some! But I don't have any experience, so that's why I want to hear from you guys and what you have and your opinions.

  9. My car came with the zz5's on the rear (brand new). I've had 3 years out of them including numerous days at the drag strip, track days and fast road hooning and they never slipped out of line once. I like them and will be putting a full new set on in a couple of months. They get very good wet ratings too. Obviously the mpss are better, your car, your money.

That's a very handy post, thanks! Sounds like they hold up pretty well. Out of curiosity, I don't know if you daily your zed, how many miles would you say you got out of them?

  10. Never bought tyres for a car ever... so I know very little about what to look for and brands etc, so I need some help!

When the time comes (which won't be long), I will be changing all 4 tyres on the 350z, 18's Rays.

I will not be tracking the car at all it will be a daily driver.

I've got some quotes on a couple of sets of tyres as followed (including fitting), what do you guys think?

    Avon ZZ5's £373

Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39 £423

    Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 £456

    Bridgestone Potenza RE050A £472

    MPSS4's £567

I know MPSS seem to be an all round favourite but are they really £200 better than avons?!
