  1. This season I'm lowering the rear camber to -2 and changing the rear springs to 6k. Right now even with the rear ARB removed it's still too stiff. I am not sure if I need to revalve the damper if I go down by more than 2k? Need to check with Stance but I think going down (softer springs) should be ok. -3 at the front is perfect with r888 255/35/18 so I am keeping this setting.
  2. Well yeah, it's not much fun when it's wet, especially if one does not know what line to take and does not have wet tires on! Last year I took my Zed to the Ring and it was raining during the first half of the day. I had semislicks on and I went for a drive just to see what it was like. A little poo came out in a couple of corners when I started to slide - not intentionally of course ! lol
  3. Sorry, JWT, yes (typo). Looking at this test JWT produce the biggest gains but this was tested on DE. I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff. What is the actual difference between your Tomei cams and the JWT C1HR? http://www.superstre...-vq-street-cam/ Glad to read that you are happy with the OS Giken and 3,9FD combo because that's what I'm also going for I already bought the LSD (1.5) but now I'm reading that it's tuned for stock dual mass flywheel and it should be adjusted to work best with a lightened flywheel. Not sure how though and what is actually affected by this flywheel weight difference when this LSD is installed - probably the way it behaves during decceleration. BTW, how much does your flywheel weigh? Which 3,9 FD did you get? I'm looking at this one: https://conceptzperf...z33_p_14604.php What does this stuff do? - Ported heads with high flow cnc valve seat cut - Billet oil pump gears - Walbro fuel pump and R35 injectors
  4. Realy?! Why? Spa is fast but boring. The Ring is the ultimate challenge and super fun. Although if you go on a busy they, the crowd can ruin the experience. To the OP, you will soon start looking at wider and lighter wheels and coilovers + arb. Start with arb eg. Hotchkis. Those semislicks need stiffer suspension! No more than 7k spring at the back with true coilover or you will strugle with lots of corner entry oversteer.
  5. I'm starting to think about modding the engine now as well. Was thinking about CWT cams. What made you go for Tomei and how much did they cost? Also thinking about getting the 3.9 fd and putting it in when installing the LSD next month. Not sure about the flywheel though yet. Do you still have stok DMF and VLSD? I want to get a lightened one but not sure which one.
  6. -3 front, -2,5 rear camber, 1/16 toe out F, 1/8 toe in R (total), car lowered by 1-1.5 inch, 13 mm rake. Spring rates: I run 14/9kg and the rear is too stiff so I think 14/7 would be ideal. Depends on the tires though - I'm on semislicks. Anyone else? I'm curious about the coilover spring rates.
  7. I have a track car with 9'5 and 10'5 inch wheels so 255/265 and 275/285 would be ideal. The new Federal 595 RSRR have those sizes now but they will be slightly slower. It's a shame ZZR only have 2 sizes for 18" rims!
  8. Which is the hardest compound for 888? Do those new r888r come in that compound?
  9. Isn't GG the hard compound? How different are they then?
  10. I need softer springs for my Stance coilovers. I can buy or switch if someone wants my 9kg Swift springs.
  11. (Re PPE) It's going to be LOUD! Make sure you measure the HP gain. I've heard they can add 15hp and even more torque! I'm doing a full custom exhaust this month but only with decats as the first stage. Can't wait!
  12. I have a chance to buy a set of Avon ZZR for the rear (5mm thread left) but there is no matching size for the front. I can get a set of new r888 which have the same amount of thread. I know that ZZR are quite hard, will the Toyos be a good match for them?
  13. Which Berk decats - what are their exact specs? Same question for that Milltek system. I am getting everything done by a guy who builds whole systems for sports cars - from headers to the tips. I just want to know that whatever he proposes as a solution is the optimal one for this car. I can definitely get more power&tourque, less weight and a more bassy sound with a custom system, I just need to know how. He says it won't be too loud with resonated test pipes, stock diameter exhaust and an absorbing muffler(s). I guess I need to find our exactly what he proposes - I'll be seeing him on Saturday so I'll let you know after that.
  14. It's not a track-only car yet. I'll be driving it daily for a year or two before I get something else for daily driving. I don't want it to be louder than 96 dB and mufflers can take care of that even if cats are removed. I don't get why I should not be concerned about the tone even if it's a race car - as long as the power&tourque are maxed out and weight is reduced, a nice bassy sound would be great! Anyway, what should be my detailed specs for a custom built full exhaust from the headers to the tips - keeping my 3 priorities in mind?
  15. Guys, I was told that it's best to just remove the cats and leave the stock exhaust in because the aftermarket ones eat up a few HP and even more tourque. True? Even if they do, the exhaust in HR weighs a lot and replacing it with a single 3'' cat-back would probably more than compensate for it. True? I was also told that test pipes should be resonated as I would hate the sound without it - that I know for a fact now but what is the difference between test pipes with built-in resonators... https://www.torqen.u...8-370z-res.html ... and the ones with external tubes? https://www.torqen.u...pes-md-001.html My HR is a track car so my priorities are: 1) power 2) less weight 3) bassy sound What do you recommend?
  16. That's good going for your first visit. I take it you've got the bug and it'll be an annual event from now on? What camera you using? I either captures a lot more sound than mine or your car is a lot louder than mine! Tyres don't stay cold for long on the 'ring mate but any traffic is annoying. Would've been good to get a 100% clear run just to set a lap time. My clearest run (from my first vid) was sadly the 2nd lap of the day but at 9min30sec (9min ish BTG) I was happy but then I got a lot faster but never on such a clear lap and just lifting and moving off line for a few fast boys all adds up. I recon with all my best sectors stitched together there was a sub 9min lap to be had. All my vids are on youtube channel butcher350 if people are interested My car has stock engine and exhaust. I'm using GoPro Silver 3+ (open back plastic case). The tires are hard compound semislicks and work best when really warmed up after one lap. I'll be attacking 8:30 BTG next year! I just need to dial out corner entry oversteer - the back wants to step out too much, especially in left hand corners.
  17. It rained for half a day but then it cleared up. Here's my last lap - it was a lot of fun becasue this was the last 15 minutes of the day's session after the track had been closed for like an hour. Cold tires, lots of blocking but still my favourite lap of the day!
  18. I'm actually enjoing a glass of Bitburger at the Nurburg's Motorsport Hotel now Tomorrow 10am-7pm and hopefully the weather will be fine. Can't wait to drive here in my Zed for the first time ever. The car feels so much better in a bucket seat with a harness. But I've only put them on yesterday so it'll be a bit of a test tomorrow - sure, why not test it on the scariest track in the world! lol
  19. If that "Brembo" sign stays pink after you've driven on the Ring, you have not been going fast enough! Post a pic of it afterwards
  20. I'm in the same boat Just ordered a harness bar, bucket seats and a 5 Sabelt point belt and I will be installing them this weekend. Also not touching the interior for now as I want to enjoy the car as a daily one for some time, before I decide what to do with it after winter.
  21. We will be at the Ring on 2-3 October, two full days of driving. Hopefully the weather will be fine. I am thinking about going with OBX long headers. They are supposed to add around 30hp. Please share your set up for the Nordschleife and you feedback after driving there. I'm wondering how to set mine up. Right now my set up is -2.7/-2.4, -0.05/0.10. Car lowered by 2cm on full coilovers. How do you measure the rake - top of wheel arches? I read that 13mm is ideal.
  22. Hey man, your build is very similar to mine (also 08 HR track car) and I am also planning to hit the Ring in September! I have a few mods done already but you seem to be ahead of me. Got a few questions for you as some of your mods are still on my list of things to do: 1) Radiator - where did you get the Koyo radiator from, can you drop me a link please (here or PW). Why did you decide to get this one? No more problems with overheating even on very hot days with long >20 minute sessions? Did you leave the thermostat in? 2) Clutch and flywheel - why did you choose this set and did you get the slave cylinder seperately? Does this solve the problem with clutch pedal staying on the floor after after long stints on hot days? How does this set perform compared to the OEM set? 3) Any problems with low oil pressure when idle due to this paper gasket in HR? Have you replaced it already by any chance? 4) Are those ART pipes so called resonated test pipes which replace the cats? Dunno much about the exhaust in this car yet. Is there a difference in performance between resonated and non-resonated pipes or is it just about the sound? 5) What is you current track set up - height, toe, camber, sway bars? 6) Any plans to change the FD to 4.08 or 3.9? After two track days I found that 3.5 is just too long for a track.
  23. Hey guys, which sections of this forum should I hang around the most to find out how to further build and maintain my 2008 HR based 350z track car ... how to modify it, how to set it up, how to service it, where to track it... ?
