  1. Pretty sure my slave has just give up the go, I'm losing fluid but nothing under the car so I'm assuming it's leeking into the bell housing. Clutch pedal feels horrendous at the minute, I just keep topping up with fluid to get me through this week, just purchased the Xtreme HR kit from Clark Motorsport so hopefully this will sort the issue.
  2. I've just travelled 3000 miles around Europe with 2 large suitcases in the boot a couple of bags, coats, shoes etc and we still had room so I wouldn't panic.
  3. Pretty sure it's normal, I only ever get this on cold start, might be something to do with the auto choke/fueling as the car is just warming up, my opinion anyway.
  4. Did you ever get to the bottom of this noise or just learn to live with it ?
  5. I have a Cobra resonated and it drones at motorway speed (70-80mph) but sounds great at all other speeds ! Milltek are notorious for being very quiet unless they are coupled with high flow cats. Actually thinking of going milltek myself as the Cobra is too much for me personally.
  6. Previously owned a Mk3.5 2ltr Sport Tech before I got the HR Z, in my opinion the MX5 handles better but I had it fully set up by Roddisons Motorsport so it gripped well ! Same setup 50/50 weight distrubution, LSD, rear wheel drive so the Z felt like a natural progression although the Gearbox in the MX5 is far better in terms of daily driving, nice short smooth shifts, only reason I swapped to a Z was straight line speed, the MX5 felt flat. Tight twisty roads the Z feels like a tank in comparison to the MX5 and requires a lot more effort to drive it quick but as soon as the road opens up a bit the Z is in its element and it goes & grips well, oh and not to mention sounds soooo much better. That's my two cents anyway.
  7. Contacted Z1 Motorsport in America about this as they deal with the vast majority of Z's and this is what they messaged back. "We haven't ever seen significant damage caused by it, but the lack of cam timing advance really kills the performance so sometimes egos get damaged a bit. " If I knew how to upload a screenshot of my message to them and the reply I would lol
  8. Forgot to mention don't trust the gauge in your car, hot idle car gauge read 18psi and @2000rpm 50psi. I hooked a gauge upto the oil sender unit and took readings again at hot idle 15psi and @2000rpm 47psi. We calibrate hydraulic pumps, valves, rams etc at work after manufacturing them and get them certified so the accuracy of our gauges has to be spot on !
  9. I don't think there has been a case of this actually damaging an engine or having any long time side effects without throwing up codes first ! if it gets to a point where they have failed, the pressure will be that low the idle will fluctuate badly and you should get intake timing control codes P0011 or P0021 or both. Reason these codes will pop up as they work off oil pressure so if you get either code or both most definitely change the gaskets as it could starve the top end of oil. If you carry on driving with these codes then good luck ! Correct me if I'm wrong.
  10. Who told you the engine was about to go pop ?
  11. In two minds whether to do this myself or not as to be honest I don't ever wanna risk the engine going pop ! Is it something I could do on the driveway or not ? If not anyone know of a reputable garage near Hull/Yorkshire ???
  12. I'm a Hydraulic Engineer by trade so deal with oil & pressures day in day out, technically speaking if the gaskets are passing oil and you do have a lack of pressure due to this (below 14.5psi) then it should trigger the oil pressure warning light on the dashboard and limit the motor to 3000rpm which is basically limp mode even if it is an internal leak ? So if your car's warning light comes on change the gaskets if not don't panic, minimum working pressures have been calculated by Nissan so the engine will still run safe at that pressure. Correct me if I'm wrong or enlighten me !
  13. Had a look this morning and after driving 5 miles idle was sat around 18psi ! Nissan quotes 14.5psi at 650rpm for the HR which is obviously hot idle pressure this is from Nissan themselves telling me from a spec list of pressures/temperatures etc.
  14. So what should hot & cold pressures actually be ? And is there a prevention ? Doesn't it always throw up a code if oil pressure is effected in anyway ?
  15. Well eventually got around to fitting the resonated Cobra, I am impressed with the sound especially at wide open throttle it's sounds great, as it comes back down the revs it pops & bangs but not ridiculously loud. Build quality is good. Only complaint would be the drone accelerating from 60-70mph it echoes around the cabin, sounds awful, found if I popped the window down a couple of inches it helped. Overall happy but thought the clamps looked a bit naff so I TIG welded the arms & tips on at work after a quick test fit to get position right.
  16. Mine is exactly the same, I consider myself to be quite a smooth driver aswell. Only part of the car I hate is the clutch, recently fitted a braided/insulated hose and bled the system and to be honest it's not much better ! I have an HR with 54k and original clutch, flywheel and slave.
  17. Pedal always returns to original position no matter what but does feel mushy which is why I fitted a braided hose and bled it. Weird feel to the clutch compared to other cars I have owned, don't know if that's just the way it is meant to be tbh !
  18. When I start my car and release the clutch sometimes but not everytime something thuds/knocks, sounds like it's coming from underneath the car. Also noticed it when I nailed the car and shifted from 2nd to 3rd, same thud/knock ! Any ideas anyone ??? HR if it makes a difference.
  19. How did the CSC feel before it went bang ? I've just fitted a braided hose and bled it to give a better feel bit still think it's garbage tbh !
  20. Technically resonated will give a deeper sound and unresonated will give a louder sound, seen videos of both popping & banging but you don't get rasp with resonated as far as I'm aware. Just bought a resonated Cobra Y-pipe back so will let you know when it's delivered and fitted. On a different note should I reset the ECU after fitting the exhaust and HKS drop in filters ?
  21. I haven't driven one but seen so many good reviews on this forum about them, they are rated to 700flb+ torque and good for 400bhp+ whilst retaining a fairly stock feel and minimal noise. What's wrong with your current clutch ?
  22. Go onto Opie Oils website they are the cheapest that I have found by far for the same plugs other traders are offering.
  23. I own an HR also and when the time comes I will be going Xtreme, quality made, tryed & tested plus minimal chatter and feel for daily driving.
