  1. i drive from dover to sly, well worth the trip. he's been busy gathering the very best mechanics for our performance cars.

i've seen a few zeds about in thanet area. mine is the black HR with the nismo body kit. seen a silver DE with the nismo kit but i'm not sure yet if there is another silver one kicking about.

so which one are you? :)

  2. mine would spin up in the wet in 3rd gear at motorway speeds on the no-name tyres my car came with. sure it was budget rubber but i think the bigger issue was the tread depth getting close to 3mm.

so check the thread depth and if it's approaching 3mm then get some new rubber.

sure they may still be legal, but mine was at the point where i couldn't follow a normal car in the wet without my back end giving way. now i know the zed isn't the most agile of beats, but when pottering about with shopping i do expect it to keep pace with other cars that are driving normally.

  3. Saw it at midnight too.

    I thought it was meh.

Too many comedy lines in it.

Few plot holes I didn't like. Especially Rai and Fin picking up a lightsaber for the first time and using it pretty well

And the fact that they blew up the planet/death star with about 10 X wings.

I too thought was a bit harsh for Han to go that way... Poor Chewy :(

Don't get me wrong, good film, just not sure what i was expecting when I walked into it.

probably overkill at this point given the nature of this thread, but i figured i might as well slap the spoiler tags round my reply :)

RE blowing up the planet with 10 x-wings and a rucksack full of explosives

it's not as bad as that. before it goes book it had just managed to suck an entire star into the weapon. they took out a part of the system that keeps all that energy safely stored, so yeah, massive explosion when an entire stars worth of energy was let lose inside a tiny planet!

if you watch it again pay more attention to the fireball after the explosion, it doesn't fade, it turns into a new star.

so 10 x-wings and a bag full of bombs isn't so outlandish. what's more interesting is how they squashed all the matter from a star into some sort of containment that had to fit into a planet without triggering a singularity :)

i really enjoyed the feeling of the film. 1,2&3 were worth watching, but quite meh for me, guess there was too much politics for my liking but the whole lot was to set the story up.

4,5&6 i was a child for, so they were magical, which makes it kinda hard to compare them to the new ones as my memory is so distorted. 7 however has left me with the impression that it is a lot closer to 4,5&6 than 1,2&3 were. i had a ton of fun watching it the first time in 3d and the 2nd time in 2d and am looking forward to seeing it at an imax in the new year. soooo glad it feels better than 1,2&3!

i think a big thing for me is how much they use the original music score. as for the comedy there was a lot in 4,5&6, that's what the droids and the wookie are for! sure there are other jokes, but it's clear comedy has been a large part of it from the start.

  4. My opinion:

If she's having the baby and will more than likely be the one who does the majority of the driving with the little'un in the car, then her car is the one that should go the journey. Especially as both current cars are 2-seaters.

Simple as that, as far as I'm concerned :)

really? it came out of her so it must be all her doing?

how about we rework that to say if one of them decides to be a stay at home parent then it makes sense for them to have the practical car.

  5. even tallying up the bills wont convince her.

if she can't see the simple fact that her car costs more per month than your car then either money isn't the real reason (which is fair enough, she might love her TT as much as you love your zed but feels she has to talk practicalities not feelings) or she just doesn't trust/believe the maths.

so this kinda depends on the level of communication you have. hopefully you can find out which of the 2 it is. if it's feelings then there is no clear answer, you both have 2 seater cars you love and only practicalities can differentiate them, which isn't what feelings are based on. you'll need to do some serious work together to come to some agreement that you can both live with.

if it's the maths then try talking to someone she trusts that is more maths friendly and walk it through with them. maybe (assuming your maths is right) they will be able to talk to her and explain how her car costs your family more per month than your car does.

  6. as she gets old bits will wear out, so with a higher mileage car you'll be sorting those bits out sooner rather than later. at that age it would be a bonus if the clutch has already been done, if not it might be on the sooner list rather than later (some love the excuse to get an upgraded clutch...)

personally i jumped at my 100K zed as it meant getting behind the wheel 4 months earlier than i had planned. i've had a lot of work done to her as bits were just wearing out, nothing that screams problem car, just old car. i'm one happy owner :)

  7. Edit to add- what's that lever on the back of the passengers seat?

it's to fold the seat forwards so you can get to the glove box. always fun asking a new passenger if they can just fetch something out of the glove box, they will never find it :)

  8. depends how the ecu works. it will see the greater air flow. so either it will squirt in more fuel to match, or it will restrict the air flow to match the amount of fuel it wants to inject. i get the impression it does the latter, it learns over time that it now needs to open the air flow less to get the same amount in. it's not until you do a remap to tell it to squirt more fuel in to match that you see the benefits.

it might work the other way if the throttle was physically connected, but it's fly by wire so it gets to chose what it does with the air flow and the fuel injection.

once again i'm no mechanic, but i am a programmer so i can see how the system might be designed in a few different ways, and from what i've read so far it seems that the ecu will wipe out any performance gains of mods as it learns how to do things the way it was mapped to do things.

  9. Lmfao that's so so funny!! Got it's just a little LED light that plugs in....... Please tell me no one is thick enough to buy one of these!! Lol

i have 2, one for each charger, i now get 600 miles on a tank and rainbows appear when i rev my engine at traffic lights

  10. this is a real pain for me too. though when the engine has just warmed up (idle revs drop, water temp at normal) she can be just fine, from 1K to 2K as smooth as you like. then later on in the trip if i hit traffic she can start bucking. she is better having gone back to stock air intakes, that felt like a switch going on and off, now it's more like a lump in the way.

i know my sparks are fine, maybe the maf needs a clean, but mapping is off the cards until next year due to insurance.

it makes those 3 lane car parks a real chore in an otherwise fantastic car to cruise up and down the country in. i am getting used to it, just use higher revs than i need and more clutch work. but it's a shame to have to do that as she can be impeccably behaved at times

  11. if you need to check a fault code then this plug in reader worked for my HR

    http://www.amazon.co..._1_8&sr=8-8

no live data stream but i can check codes, freeze frame data and reset the error. which is just fine for my faulty front end sensor, means i can check a warning light is the known fault so it's doesn't hide any new problems.

it's cheap and might get you guys going for trouble shooting, but it's no replacement for a bluetooth adaptor and app with live feed.

The live data is the only reason i want it! :p

figures :) but i thought someone might be in a pickle so hopefully it helps others :)
