    HFC degradation

Thanks for the info. I've tried clearing the code but the eml comes back on after a few miles. I don't think the gaskets are blowing but that's certainly worth checking. The strange thing is the car was mot'd in May and passed the emissions test without a problem, so somethings gone wrong pretty quickly.

    HFC degradation

I fitted Cobra HFC's just over 3 years ago and I've just been told by my local Nissan dealership that they have degraded and are responsible for the EML that's recently appeared. In 3 years I have done approx 15k miles and the car has been dealer serviced every year so it seems somewhat soon for the cats to break down. Has anybody else experienced similar problems?
  3. Need to replace the top 02 sensor, passenger side on my 370. Has anybody previously done this and how easy/difficult was it?
  4. I'm looking to buy a waterproof half cover for my 370z coupe from Classic Additions. I don't have a garage so the car is obviously outside all year round (secure driveway). My biggest problem is the inside of the back window icing over during frosty nights and I want to stop this happening. Does anyone have any experience of the C.A. half covers.
  5. Thanks guys, Looks like a Cobra system is next on the shopping list then. Taff
  6. Will a remap get the emissions to a level that will get the car through the MOT, mine blew out due to CO2 off the scale. Taff
  7. Hi Zugara, Do you still have the spare wheel, will it fit 19" rims, if it will I will buy it. Cheers Taff
  8. That is true Sargara, but I can only speak from personal experience which was of their Nottingham dealership. It would be interesting to know if the poor aftersales service relates solely to one of their dealerships or whether or not it permeates throughout the whole company. There is obviously a problem which they need to take on board & rectify or eventually it will catch them out. I wonder if customers whom have bought other makes of car from them have also had bad experiences.
  9. I bought my 2010 370z from Junction 17 back in February & I had no problems with them whatsoever. The car has performed well & proved itself to be reliable on a 3,000 mile trip around France & Germany during June & July. I had a problem with the cover over the dashboard storage pod & they paid for a replacement without question. I don't know whether or not the complaints about Junction 17 were in relation to Nottingham or Peterborough, but my experience with Nottingham was only ever positive.
  10. Hi Rich, if you can accept a delivered price of £300 I will buy the cats off you. Cheers.
  11. Hi Rich, what's the claimed power increase for the HFC's & will they still allow the car to pass the M.O.T., also, does the engine need remapping after they're fitted. Cheers

    which tyres?

For 36 of the 41 years of my working life I worked for 2 large American Automotive Engineering Companies & for 23 of those 36 years I worked in the Purchasing Depts buying raw materials & components which ended up being supplied to most of the motor manufacturers in Europe as safety critical products. The classification safety critical meant that the engineering specification was set to an extremely high level & the purchasing people had to liaise very closely with engineering, quality control & logistics, both in our own company & also at the customer in order to ensure that all safety critical parts were supplied to the exact specification with no room for error, after all not being melodramatic about it, the failure of a safety critical part could end up with somebody being killed. Although I didn't purchase tyres they would also carry the safety critical classification & be subject to extremely rigorous test procedures covering everything that a tyre will be subjected to during its working life & like yourself I believe that there are far more critical reasons to buying a tyre than whether it looked good or not. Cheers.

    which tyres?

Car manufacturing engineers will define the specification that the tyres will have to meet. The purchasing department will then go to its list of approved tyre suppliers & will negotiate the best possible price for the supply of said tyres, probably over the expected life of that particular model car. This is the way in which Nissan works, at least it was when I used to deal with them & so Bridgestone would have submitted the best pricing & supply conditions for the 370z's tyres & should retain that business as long as they keep meeting Nissan's requirements & don't make stupid mistakes. Having said that, it doesn't necessarily mean that there aren't other tyres available that are perfectly suited to the Z's characteristics & from the number of recommendations on this forum it is fairly obvious that Michelin PSS's fit the bill & so they would seem to be quite a good choice. Taking the point regarding how the tyre looks on the car, I don't believe that that would have been high on the list of the Nissan engineers specification, I can imagine that if you asked them the question on aesthetics they would have said that they need to be black & round. I hope your final choice is to your satisfaction.
  16. Ah! silly me, yes I can see now that you meant the storage bin between the seats. You should be able to get a replacement from the dealers but then you'll pay top dollar. I think that the advice that the guys have given above is pretty sound & it may well be worth looking around for a car that has been looked after somewhat better, I got my 2010 GT at the beginning of the year with 20k on the clock for £17k, but if you're set on buying this particular one I would ask the owner some serious questions as to why they didn't get the stone chips fixed (the one above the windscreen? will probably be expensive to fix properly as the screen needs to come out to ensure that all the rust is cleared & then the whole roof panel will need to be sprayed to get a good match). Does the car have a full service history by an accredited dealer or Nissan specialist, because if not it just adds to the feeling that the car hasn't been looked after very well.
  17. I've just fitted a new storage compartment lid in the dash & it's a little fiddly but generally straightforward, there are a couple of videos on You Tube which show you how to remove a radio & these are very good for giving you the method needed for removing the compartment lid (you don't need to go as far as removing the radio). Just search removing the radio on a Nissan 370z & a couple will come up, one is for a 2009 car but the method is the same for a 2010 model & the 2nd one is done by a guy with a bag over his head (yes really - just to show how easy it is) both are good & only take approx. 5 mins each so you can watch both to make sure that you've got the method clear. The new lid is quite expensive, it comes as a complete unit with the rest of the storage pod, you can't get them separately. I got mine from the dealership & it came to £157. Once you've got the front cover off you should find that the storage compartment is screwed in place & also has a couple of lugs which fit behind the air vent units, you obviously have to undo all the screws (self tappers) & you will need to take off one of the air vents, they have moulded in clips & are a bit of a pain to remove but with a bit of care they will come off & refitting them is just a matter of pushing them back into place until the clips re-engage. Once that's done the old storage pod will literally fall out & the new one will go back in within a few minutes.
  18. In light of this problem it would seem like a good idea to replace the oil temperature gauge with an oil pressure gauge. I guess there are gauges that will fit in the dash housing, or is there something that would prevent you from doing this?

    370 Wheel Nut

Those are the exact same ones as mine, so looks like the problem is solved.

    370 Wheel Nut

I've got some spare oem wheel nuts from when I fitted locking nuts, so I will take a photo & with a bit of luck I'll figure out how to post it on here so you can see what they look like. I'll also measure it up, I know that the thread size is M12x 1.25, but I will add the overall dimensions to see if that helps. Keep your fingers crossed that I can do this right & you should get a reply a little later.

    Tyre roar

Just come back from Le Mans & the difference in tyre roar on most French roads was remarkable, generally it was much much quieter, there was only one stretch where the road had been resurfaced with a gravel type finish that the noise was as loud as it is here. So I guess the type of road construction plays a big part in the situation as well. So other than a permanent move to France or getting the UK Highways Authority to use the same type of tarmac as the French (both highly unlikely) it's a case of trying different types of tyre. I'm currently using Dunlop SP's, not good noise wise.
  22. I think that shows pretty much exactly what I need to do. I only need to get that front panel off & then it should be straightforward from there. Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
  23. Bought a new instrument pod ( the small storage pod that fits in the dash where the sat-nav would go) because the mechanism for opening it is kaput. Was going to try & fit it myself but can't see any way of getting the old one out. Has anyone had one of these replaced or replaced it themselves? I'm a bit concerned that I'm going to be at the mercy of the Nissan dealership.
  24. Thanks for that, do you use Mobil 1?
