  1. Went for a P1 service to H-Dev yesterday. Driver side turbo is leaking some oil through the compressor outlet into the intake pipe, around 10ml/100miles. Yet to be decided if further investigations, i.e. engine out job, is required.

    Nice photo from the under-body:

    Underbody of 370Z-TT

Then, the mechanic pulls her back onto the forecourt. Undramatically, though, as he's a gentleman ;)

By the way, my brother standing in above clip (been visiting me for a couple days) was utterly shocked by the savage forward thrust when I accelerate hard from standstill with my tires properly warmed up and good tarmac able to hook from 1st gear w/o slip despite over 400 ft lb of torque. Yes, those 305mm MPS4S are insane! He was much looking forward to experiencing my Z and he had never experienced anything this violent by a long mile (he used to own a mapped AWD Audi S3). He also said my Z is unbelievably beautiful and truly special that he never realised just from the pictures and videos he had seen. I think it finally dawned him why I'm so obsessed about and constantly dumping ££k into my Z while he's just into mobile phone gaming

  2. Yesterday I replaced my Mishimoto Weighted Shift Knob (363 g) with a Raceseng Contour Shift Knob (500 g). Big thanks to @Adrian@TORQEN for supplying it from USA!

While I liked the looks of the Mishimoto I didn't quite warm up to the feel of the shifting action with the stick-like shape, or maybe I grew less fond of it over time. So, I got the even heavier satin finished stainless steel knob with the optional Gate 3 Engraving and I much prefer the shift action feel it gives over the Mishimoto. The Raceseng also looks good with the OEM satin silver interior trims.

Because the Raceseng knob is much stouter and even heavier the gears clunk into place with a precise metallic feel and even shorter travel. I totally love the new shifter feel!

  4. Acquired a mirror-polished S/S cover for the radiator expansion tank from @RDON who has a limited stock of custom fabrication. Very happy with the quality and finish of the piece (all precision laser-cut). Many thanks buddy! B)

Thank you @Adrian@TORQEN! They look unbelievably stunning, truly exceptional! :yahoo:

I always wanna call them monstrously big, but in fact they are even 1 size bigger than that :D

i have 4 of these mirror polished rad expansion covers left for the 370z. will be on a first come first served basis. please PM with a photo of your rad expansion tank if you have a 370z before 2013 as some early version have the HR tank which is slightly different. £50 plus P&P

I'd be interested in the cover. Should fit my Z, shouldn't it? See below:

Nice Idea, but I'd be cautious of the placement of those drain pipes. A small leak would impair the front tyres.....

Thanks but no worries, they'll be hidden within the undertray once the front bumper is back on. I could catch and hold a 5cm deep oil puddle with it ;)

On a side note, when I removed the FMIC I discovered large amounts of engine oi in the lower charge pipes (which come straight out of the turbo compressor outlets).

At first I was shocked, but my tuner Jez@Horsham Developments said it's pretty normal, comes from the turbos and collects in the intercooler.

The upper intake pipes toward the throttle bodies are indeed dry and clean.

To come back to my earlier post about the large amounts of oil I found in the lower charge pipes that come out of the turbo compressors, I now devised and home-made oil traps, installed at the lowest points of the pipes. This way oil would accumulate in the clear PVC hoses and could be drained when needed (by removing the jubilee):

    Nice

What do you have now just stock discs and pads

Stock brakes, but with Hawk Performance Ceramic pads

Gonna go all out with Torqen's biggest BBK - XTREME (405mm)

  10. Added some Fly1 Motorsports Side Blades to my side skirts (ordered back in Dec, made to order in USA). They are the fibre glass that I painted in Satin Black.

I mounted them to the side skirts with five M6 bolts.

Hi Nic, I guess we might meet at JapFest in July (where I'll prob be featuring at the Banzai stand)? I can't make it to JapFest in May.

  12. I managed to have my BOV flanges TIG welded to my FMIC. The GREddy BOVs are now installed and look pretty bling :D

@Adrian@TORQEN @V1H stated in his project thread, using the Torqen S coilovers that "The rear coils I set to the lowest possible ride height, but could only achieve a drop of 12 mmversus stock. And this I only achieved by taking out one of the two blue collar ring nuts on the coil seat. I feel the rear coils are a tiny bit too tall/stiff. But I'm happy nonetheless"

That's what I'm basing the above comment about a 15mm drop on... Never used them myself

Having since installed 20" wheels, my rear drop inevitably reduced to 8mm. The front end drop I deliberately reduced to 13mm. The initial 36mm drop were way too low in practical terms.

If you need someone to make a nice job of that welding check out colin at creative he is awesome and not expensive

I'll tag you in his work on Facebook

Thanks for the tag, Nic! Much appreciated.

He'd be a little far for me though.

I might be able to try the Engineering workshop at the University of Sheffield (my work)

  15. In the pursuit of some blow-off psshhhhhh I decided to add two BOVs to my TT setup (my BorgWarner Turbos have internal CRVs and don't require BOVs but can work alongside them).

I picked the GReddy Type-FV [#11501665] due to their 'floating valve design with dual spring system' for better low-boost response.

I had to also grab a couple of GReddy Alu weld-on flanges [#11900451] to accommodate the BOVs.

Because there are plenty fake GReddy and HKS producs out there I ordered through @Adrian@TORQEN, straight from Japan. Lead time ~2 months :snack: but they are here now!

    BOV_1.jpg

After some head scratching I decided to mount them right there (crossed circles). Will be the easiest to weld onto, walls are thicker than on the pipes, and there's space behind the front bumper. They have to be located pre-MAF anyway, thus can't be nice and visibly sitting in the engine compartment . Shame, they are very expensive bling

    BOV_2.jpg

Now I need to remove the FMIC and transport it to someone who can TIG or MIG weld aluminium...

    EDIT:

Having slept over it once more, I might instead relocate my MAFs a little upstream, closer to the throttle bodies, to make room on the charge pipes for the BOVs to be placed before the MAFs. Like so:

    BOV_3.jpg
I'd not have to mess with removing the FMIC, and the vac lines from the BOVs to the intake plenum would also be shorter. It'd just require some extra and more delicate welding.
