  1. All I can say is next weekend this car better be gleaming
  2. Ok, also ordered some FK1000p for my wheels, found one of your comparison threads ilogikal1!
  3. Ok for better or worse I have ordered the following: Kestrel DAS 6 polisher Autofinesse REVKIT Meguiars drying towel and lambs wool wash mit Meguiars Gold Class car wash and conditioner Meguiars paint cleaner step 1, and Meguiars polish step 2 Bilt Hamber Auto clay Poorboys Black hole glaze Poor boys Nattys paste red Farecla 7167 G3 applicator pads for the wax and polish £225 lighter! I appreciate all of your help, hopefully I haven't left anything out, please shout at me if I have. I haven't added a quick detailer as the Bilt hamber only needs water? Or is the quick detailer good for a spruce up if i dont have time for a full wax? edit: I forgot something for the wheels! I have wonder wheels cleaner at the moment and it cleans pretty well in my novice opinion. Also forgot something for the windows and leather and interior cleaner! oops
  4. Think she was asking for confirmation, as when I started saying 350z she had already said 'is it a Nissan ' haha. Maybe she was just flirting
  5. Bird in the MacDonalds drive through asked me what it was last week, followed by telling me she went to japfest and how much she wants a zed! If she was half tidy I would have offered her a ride!
  6. I had the exact same thing done today, I had 6 dings removed over 3 panels, charged £90 inc vat. Was done at Dingmaster in Bristol. Highly recommend.
  7. As title, saw two 350's out today! First one was a Sunset orange on the A36, I was heading towards Salisbury from Southampton, second was a Ebisu black like mine on the A303 as I made my way towards West Somerset! If it was anyone on here, then
  8. Hi everyone, I have never been much of a car cleaner, when they did get a clean it would be an annual affair, maybe twice a year at best!.... My motorbikes got all the love, and cars were my work horses. However, I have never had a really nice car until the Zed. My 540i bmw looked great even when fairly dirty (Biiaritz Blue) and was the car I used when contracting away from home, so I never had much time to clean cars. Anyway, enough of the rubbish, my new (to me) Ebisu Black 350z is covered in swirls, fine scratches (I think the local cats must have got jiggy on the bonnet and the roof fairly often!), there are a few deepers scratches that look like a woman (prob the guys wife) may have even had her hand bag on the roof...... and is looking like it needs some serious loving... So I have read through the detailers noob guide, but to be honest there is so much choice out there with products I thought maybe I could short list what I need to get started here so I can go on amazon and bulk buy the lot so I have everything to give the car a complete start to finish. I have microfiber clothes, will buy a wash mit and drying cloth. Shampoo and conditioner - reccomendations? There are 6 listed in the guide with no reason to choose one from another Clay and quick detailer - I was thinking of the Maguiar quick clay kit? Paint cleaner - Will I need something fairly aggressive to remove the swirls? Or am I looking at some machine polishing and various cutting compounds to even touch them? Or will the Maguiar's Deep Crystal do a good enough job. I have never machine polished a car, but saw another thead and I am guessing this auto finesse kit would work? I am a little worried though that I may be too heavy handed and polish through the lacquer! Polish - seems to be very subjective and everyone has a favourite! Anything that is regularly reccomended or stick to the starter guide and go for Maguiar's Deep crystal? Wax - from reading other threads, some waxes I have seen used such as Dodo Juice, is far more expensive than the bottled waxes, whats the main differences here, any recommendations? Or stick with the bottled ones mentioned in the the starter thread such as Maguiar's NXT Apologies for the questions, I have searched, but have been left as undecided on what to buy as when I started! edit: Forgot to ask, what do you use to apply the paint cleaner and polish? The microfiber cloths? Or do you save those for buffing? Thanks!
  9. Thanks for the replies, yeah I was hoping it would be a bit brighter, still looks good mind you, but would prefer some with a bit more colour! My thinking was getting my rays refurbed (they are slightly curbed by previous owner) will probably cost around £250-£350 at a guess, so that takes the sting out of a new set of rims, while leaving me my rays for winter tyres....
  10. Looking and looking and can't find any pics of an ebisu black zed with some bronze rims... Ideally some Rota gtr or Rota drifts?? Or maybe just stick with silver, the darker colours just dont seem to suit a black car! Cheers Mike
  11. Yeah I know! When I put them in a vac bag the weave distorted I'm going to try a different way of doing them I'd rather not ask if I'm honest mate they might not like it :/ Yeah get on it! There's nothing better than a clean black car...until you take it 2mile down the road and it's crapped up again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Haha too right, Ah Nottingham, I'm guessing you are at either EPM, KS or Cobham? They are roughly in your area anyway! If so you might know a few mates of mine
  12. Hey, sorry to say I'm not that impressed by the washer covers, I too work in carbon, but made out of pre preg they would look so much better, I'm sure you could scrounge some off cut material from work and chuck them in the clave. Most places I have worked (im a contractor) are pretty easy going and would unlikely to put up much of a fuss. Though I'm guessing you have made them from wet lay, the weave is quite distorted, I know its tricky with dry cloth.... Otherwise, I think its time my black zed got the same polish/wax treatment, yours looks very shiny! Mine is a swirly bastard
  13. This question goes to yourself and Linus, why do you both have what appears to be alloy towing hooks on the rear of your cars?
  14. E39 540i sport, 286bhp v8, had to scratch the v8 itch. Still have it, need to sell it really but I've only had the zed a week! I was considering a monaro next but the zed won!
  15. The clutch plate is pushed against the fly wheel when the clutch is engaged, the more you slip the clutch, the more the friction material on the clutch wears against the fly wheel, and the faster the surface of the fly wheel itself wears. .
  16. Nice car! Where in the southwest are you? I just bought mine sunday, I'm about 5 miles out from Cannington
  17. Ahh good idea, just realised the wing mirror has polish on it I had to start somewhere...
  18. Slightly better! Just needs some polish
  19. Poor phone camera photo taken at the petrol station on the way home. Purchased from a very well spoken gent in London. Demo and one owner (seller), he bought it at 1500 miles Every bit of paperwork from new, 27k on the clock with 6 services from Nissan. New front Nissan oem discs and pads, pretty immaculate inside, bloody good nick on the outside too. To me it's like a new car Chuffed to say the least. I'll give it a proper clean and wax/polish and get some proper photos up as soon as I can. What's the first mod most people do? going by the recent exhaust thread that looks like a fun investment!
  20. Thanks, I'll be gutted if it ends up being a total waste of time! Long way to go
  21. Ok, looking at another car this evening in London, bit of a trip (4hrs on the train), 07 HR 313 GT, black with black leather (red stitching), 27k on the clock, 6 stamps in the book, demo plus one owner (the seller), new front discs, full tank of full (every little helps), HPI clear this time! It is a bit more pricy though than the previous car, though the condition appears to be near on perfect. Fingers crossed shes a good one, if all goes to plan ill have shiny photos for you sometime late this evening!
  22. Having exactly the same problem finding a decently priced sorted car. Prices seem a little inflated at the moment? Are we allowed to put wanted ads up anywhere? Lol
  23. Another one picked up at a bargain price! Where are they all!? Lol
  24. Ok, the first 350z I looked at last week is still for sale. It's orange, orange leather, 06 uprev model with facelift interior,66k with every stamp since new on time without fail. last mot had advisory on front discs, so ,£300, it's needs taxing end of next month so another £500. Recently refurbed alloys, 2 keys, no nav. A stone chip that Defo needs attention on the front wing, and the odd mark that seems they all pick up. I was a little unsure of the clutch being th first 350 that I drove, but perhaps I could get him to meet me half way. His asking price is £7750 Is this a good buy if I can get a few hundred quid off? Or worth spending nearer 9-10k and trying to push for a 313?
  25. Where do you guys find these sorts of bargains? I've been looking on pistonheads, ebay and autotrader and saw no bargains other than the one I have just tried to buy! So many dreamers out there asking for stupid prices, am I a victim of summer?
