The fact it was missing a couple of services, plus the small car park ding, at the agreed price I was pretty happy, but along with the mileage hpi issue, even though I think its an error on the national mileage register, I think with the missing services together it would make selling it on in the future a bit of a ball ache. So I think I may pass on this one for now, gutted, my search shall continue. I have found a midnight blue 2008 model with a cream interior (looks quite nice) for sale privately, but its up for very strong money, £12k, 25k on the clock, it says full service history, but I am unsure how much it has had done, I have enquired so we shall see. If the price can be negotiated it may be worth a look. Ok, just had a chat to him, he is going to send me my deposit back and I said I would think about what to do next. Here is all the information I have from VOSA (backed up by his mot certs) and the service book and service receipts he has: First registered 30/12/2008 Service Nissan Glynn Hopkin Ltd 14/07/09 10,337 miles Service Nissan Glynn Hopkin Ltd 29/07/10 21,087 miles MOT 05/07/12 29,908 miles Service Independant 01/08/12 30,322 miles He bought the car after using mycarcheck with no problems 14/10/12 MOT 24/07/13 35,500 miles I think the car seems legit, unless the previous owner before him was trying to cover up another missed service, but hardly seems worth it for 9k miles, looks like an input error somewhere?

I rang HPI, they stated that mileage records can come from 3rd parties such as people doing hpi checks (presumably if they input mileage), services, MOT's, v5 transfers (if someone fills in the mileage) etc Going to get him to email me the v5 number/mot cert number and look on http://motinfo.direct.gov.uk/internet/servlet/ECHIDDispatcher To me it looks likes it's entirely possible that the mileage could have been inputted incorrectly in June, i.e 39,800 instead of 29,800? meh I don't know, are these easy to clock? or is a simple swap of clocks all it takes? There are 3 stamps in the book, 10k, 20k and 30k, I'll ask for info regarding where they were done and exactly when.

We agreed at £9k, which I was very happy with but I have hit a bit of a stumble. Hpi'd it on hpicheck.com this lunchtime (I read the one he did at the time he purchased it and all was fine), but it came up with a mileage discrepancy. Date recorded Mileage reading Total 20/Apr/2011 23,000 23,000 19/Jun/2012 39,800 39,800 19/Jul/2012 30,000 30,000 July 2012 30,000 miles, this was the month the owner bought the car I rang him promptly and he assured me not to worry about the deposit I gave him or anything, he sounded gutted to be fair to him. Waiting to hear from him later tonight so he can check what he has, but if I'm honest it's enough to put me off even if he does seem genuine.... Bugger....it drove lovely as well, so next step get my deposit back, and carry on looking I think. What do you guys think? Walk?

Ok, after being unsure with the orange 350z I viewed last week I viewed another this evening and put a deposit down! Pick it up tomorrow night after work, looking forward to it! Here it is, Thats just a photo from the Ad, will get some proper photos tomorrow. It needs a service, so I will book it in for a p3 asap, can anyone recommend a decent indy in the Somerset/Bristol area? It also has a very small car park ding in the passenger door, about 10mm wide, will get a quote at a decent bodyshop to see what it would cost to tidy up, other than that its pretty bang on! The details: 350z GT 313 38k on the clock 58 plate, registered late Decemeber 2008 Orange interior No sat nav Compared to the 06 model I drove last week, which had an extra 30k on the clock, this felt tighter, the clutch felt lots better, I fell in love with it Roll on tomorrow!

So you are saying the bite point will always be the same regardless of wear. So the fact the bite point is the very last of pedal travel shouldn't be a concern?

How high do each of your clutches feel at those mileages? I test drove an 06 with 68k on the clock and the clutch was ridiculously high, it made me look stupid trying to pull away in it with the owner in the passenger seat!

He did basically say hes having a lot of interest in the 2 days he has had it advertised and as such is not really willing to move on the price. i think I may call him tomorrow, thank him for letting me have a decent look over the car and the test drive, whilst explaining my concerns regarding the clutch (potentially) and front discs being an imminent expense.

I just found the thread you were talking about, it appears near £1k is with a new DMF as well which makes sense. Hmm, thats putting me off! With new front discs/pads and clutch/dmf, that puts the purchase price up near £9k plus the tax, which of course is on par with buying any car, but its still something I will have to pay for within 4 weeks. hmmmm

Thanks for the reply, I'm not after a roadster however. Is a high clutch typical? Or is this one on its way out? £1k for a clutch???? can't be £750 labour involved? I will say though, it sounded fantastic

Ok, I have just been to see my first 350z, I would like to point out and get advice on what I had noticed and to ask if the price is indeed fair or not. Its a Orange 2006 GT model (october registered) with the face lift engine etc, 68k on the clock, tan leather interior, heated electric seats, bi xenons and bluetooth (no nav) The good bits: * It has every stamp completed fully and on schedule by nissan, with the last service being in september last year at 63k miles where it had new front tyres * In december last year it had 2 new rear tyres (he says the rears are 1k old). * It has a new set of platinum spark plugs which on the receipt were in the region of £180 (fitted i presume). * New rear discs and pads this month, freshly refurbished rays alloys. * The engine sounded good, no rattle on startup, no oil by the diff etc. * Everything worked * 2 original keys, did they come with a valet key and master key at all? Or is 2 keys how they came? The bits I did not like/noticed would need doing: * Slight bolster wear on the drivers seat (normal in every car I have ever owned). * Light marks over a lot of the body work, on the corners etc, very light scratches here and there but overall it looks fairly tidy, fairly big stone chip just to the side of the bonnet on the wing, that would need sorting as its got a spec of rust appearing on it. * Very scratched looking drivers door panel (the part with the electric window controls), other parts of the interior have marks on them, the interior quality is nowhere near that of my e39 5 series. This was expected though. * MOT advisory in december for front discs being worn and a blowing exhaust (he said he asked another garage and they contradicted Nissans assessment, saying there was no leak to speak of). * The clutch felt very high, I struggled to pull away and looked very amateurish in his pride and joy! It is still on its original clutch so perhaps a testament to the previous owners and how gentle it has been driven? * Next service is a p3 at 72k so 4k time. * 1 months tax remaining The seller seems very very genuine and has owned it the last 4 years, I did like the car and have no issues with dealing with the seller. I think it was more the interior quality in general that put me off slightly and was probably the reason I did not put down deposit, but I'm tempted to call him up tomorrow morning and go and pick up the car friday. i just wanted your opinion on what it should be priced at, its up for £7750 which seemed good before I went to see it, but with needing taxing in a months time, a p3 service due in 4k time, and potentially needing a new clutch soon alongside new discs, this is adding up before I have even begun. £480 tax, front discs and pads £250, clutch £250 plus fitting?, p3 service £300?
