  1. Ok, I know there has been a lot of discussion about this so I am going to try and make this relatively painless with a question I cannot find the answer to on the forum. I want to replace both front & rear (not side) indictors with LED bulbs. Does anyone know what bulb wattage i'm looking for and whether this is simply a plug and play exercise if I use CANBUS bulbs ? Thanks for any help
  2. I own a Fairlady (Auto) and can say that it is the smoothest drive I've ever experienced. I understand people's opinion for the manual version but I wouldn't change. Loads of torque and such an easy drive, it sounds great skipping thru the gears with a little bit of pedal
  3. Alex I'm interested, can you give me a price please mate ?
  4. A Plinth! that's what it is. Cheers guys. I will wait to see if I can pinch Zhorno's or try Zmanalex. ... Zhorno, could you keep me updated mate ?
  5. Hi Folks, I have recently changed my stupid looking front square number plate on my JDM for a rectangular UK style but it looks silly on the square platform. Anybody know where I can a rectangular holder (black plastic bit the number plate sits on) to screw my UK plate onto ? Thanks in advance
  6. Be happy with 155 my friend. My JDM max's out at 112 and that's still enough for me in busy old blighty
  7. Interested in Tax Holder, DRL's, Grill & Keyring.. PM'd you
  8. Cheers Colin. It does feel very torquee and being an auto, incredibly smooth thru the gears. I think the BHP is 287 for this model year.. now i'm wondering what a remap might do
  9. Just read Edmunds link. I had the clocks replaced with a UK 2004 Zed to try and fix an overspeed indication but the red line still started at 6.5K on original. Car is still fast enough for me but am a little gutted Thanks folks
  10. Hi Everyone, Since purchasing my JDM, I have been debating with my mate (for some time..) whether this is a REVUP. He is adamant that it isn't and although I think it might be, i'm not sure, so thought I would get some advice on here. It is a DE model, 55 or 06 year and features limited slip diff, exhaust valve timing (I think). I put an aftermarket rear bumper on it but otherwise no other mods. Thanks in advance
  11. Alright chaps fair enough
  12. By the converter chip, you mean the Speedo Converter itself right? I don't know much about this but I would have thought that on an imported car, the ECU would need to be told to read in MPH (hence the ECU wiring on a speedo converter). I like the idea of simply buying a UK speedometer to correct things but need to improve my understanding before I do. The converter chip you buy to change from kmh to mph that you splice into the loom. Why do you need to improve your understanding, it works, I have done it as have others I would presume the markings on the dials are different spacings but correspond correctly to read in mph! So I have gone with my instinct and purchased and had installed a UK Speedometer to try and cure this overspeed indication that i'm getting on both gauges of my JDM and guess what ... ? It still reads approx. 5mph fast through most speeds when tested against a GPS receiver with HUD interface. I am not writing this to try and disprove your argument as you have advised me based on your own evidence, however I am more than a little frustrated that I trusted my gut on this one based on feedback from the forum. However, I made the decision and have to live with it. - Perhaps improving my understanding before making decisions is not such a bad idea afterall ?

  14. I have a similar problem with the speedo on my JDM. I'm just curious to know however why simply switching to a UK set of clocks on a Japanese import car calibrated to read in Km/h will cure an error in the speedo reading?

    Help ASAP

To solve your problem asap, call Bristol Street Motors riverside. They may see your car today if its urgent and relatively minor.
  16. Er, so i'm not clear why an ECU remap is so expensive ? So happy I started this topic. Mods, you may indulge yourself whenever you've heard enough
  17. Hi there.......why is your car limited to 112 ? Sorry to ask or have I missed something. Also is the DE engine maxed out at 155 or limited to 155 ? Anyone's thoughts please Cheers Limited to 155mph. Get the limiter taken off as in a remap and it will do more (seen 170mph+). I may still get the car remapped but my original question was whether its poss to get the limiter removed 'without' taking it for a remap ?
  18. Fair enough on your responses cheers. On a similar subject, my car is speed limited to 112mph. Can I get this removed without going thru a re-map ..?
  19. I'm sure this has been covered but I have started this thread with no other reason than to improve my understanding. I have done some reading online but am curious as to why I am paying £400 ? This is what I know; there is skill involved in a re-map, the software is expensive & you are paying for a certificate, dyno etc however if I needed my brakes doing for eg, I would expect it to cost roughly the same. From what I understand, there are no parts involved in a re-map and the job takes roughly an hour which should incur a labour charge of about £60+vat. So i'm obviously missing something.. I know these guys do a good job but please feel free to enlighten me.

    MPG

I currently get 27mpg on an Fairlady Auto with a 'supposedly' smaller tank; but I do drive like a nance unless provoked
  21. I agree and understand this, but following my wife in her Ka at a fixed speed, the digital readout (indicating roughly the correct MPH but with Km/h indication) is a good 7-10mph slower than the analogue speedo indication. I have tried following this main speedo but i'm getting peoples headlights burning into the back of my head. There is an error and I need to somehow get it sorted. Thanks for your reply
  22. *Folks, I need to make an amendment to my original post because some of this info is not correct* As I need some help with this, I will try and be as clear as possible.. The car I drive is a JDM. When I purchased it from a UK trader, the speedo guage was in MPH (see below). At this time, the car was equipped with a Km/h to MPH speedo converter. This did not give me an accurate MPH indication so I had the old converter removed (thinking it was faulty) and replaced with another converter. MPH indication is still indicating about 8MPH too fast. My objective is to get an accurate MPH reading from my speedo. It may be a stupid question but if I were to remove the Speedo converter currently fitted, could anyone tell me if I will get an accurate MPH reading on my MPH Speedo despite the car being an import & calibrated for Km/h? Would a good alternative be to remove my speedo and replace with one calibrated in Km/h with an additional MPH indication? Thanks in anticipation for any help as this is driving me potty .
  23. In answer to the original question; I believe some ppl hate the Zed because they don't actually know what they're looking at. There are so many twats out there with there silly little bad boy cars that a passer by can't distinguish between the two. I think the Zed looks and sounds great but If you were to compare with an Audi TT for eg, there aren't many Zed's out there which in my opinion further highlights the problem.
