  1. I've just taken the same decision. We needed another car that my wife could also drive and it makes no sense to keep it with the number of miles it would do, I'd rather someone else had it and enjoyed it than it rusted away. On the plus side we're picking up an Alfa Giulia Veloce this week so it's not all bad.
  2. I fitted my berk hfc's last July and have had the CEL come on a couple of times since then, no loss of power or anything. Errors are P0139, P0159, P1147 and P1167. Looked under the car yesterday and could see soot build up between the joint between hfc and y pipe on both sides and evidence of it leaking through the gasket. Tried tightening back up but both sides were already fully tight. Is this a known issue with the berk gaskets? Would this cause the error? I've ordered new OEM ones to replace them with. I'm also going to swap the manifold to cat gaskets because I'm now worried they might go too. When I did the hfcs I also did the banana arms so had loads of space because the subframe was out. How hard is it to get the hfcs out without doing this?
  3. My cousin and his friend were also at the ring on the 20th and unfortunately were involved in a severe accident. You likely heard about it because the ring was shut for several hours as a result. Their car flipped at Schwedenkreuz and my cousin, in the passenger seat, lost his life. So I'm issuing a warning /plea - please wear a helmet on the ring and be careful at Schwedenkreuz, as you've already found out it can be quite dangerous.
  4. Was going on holiday on Thursday morning and went to get in the car to drive to the airport and all the locks were frozen. The Mrs face was a picture when I told her. Luckily a couple of minutes with the hairdryer got the driver and boot locks open. The passenger one stayed frozen until we got out at the other end. I used to have an alfa gtv that frozen when it got even a little cold. I once drove an hour to blue water after getting it unlocked to find it wouldn't lock again. We were there to buy Christmas presents so I told the Mrs the car wouldn't lock but we'd leave it unlocked but pretend to lock it and go buy everything. As we are walking away from the car she turned to me and very loudly said "but you haven't locked the car!" I had to move to a different part of the car park and try again.
  5. I contacted a few specialists before having the clutch done and they all advised against single mass flywheel for everyday driving around. I also went LUK and excedy and it has been fine so far.
  6. I had this when the brake pedal sensor went funny. Don't buy the cheap one from Eurocarparts because the lights came back a month later, I bought a Lucas branded one in the end and that sorted it.
  7. When it freezes I find my drivers door doesn't unlock and I have to climb through the passenger side. Elegant.
  8. Hopefully the final update to this. I have done a couple of hundred miles since changing the switch (for the second time) and haven't seen the lights again. I guess this is a lesson not to buy cheap rubbish from eurocarparts...
  9. Does this help at all? http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/69887-clutch-switch/#entry1503376
  10. Did you get an error when connected to a laptop? Wouldn't the eml come on fire that?
  11. Slight update - because changing the brake pedal switch seemed to work for a while I have replaced it again with a facet version rather than the non branded eurocarparts one. There is a noticeable difference in the switches - if you press the facet switch you can feel the on/off switch action (like pressing a button) whereas the other one feels smooth all the way through the action. Have done a few short journeys and haven't triggered the lights yet (on a road that always seemed to do it) but will update again.
  12. Argh! Changed the battery today because the car had been getting harder and harder to start. Drove 50 miles with no lights then on the last junction before home they all came back again. So close!
  13. Now I'm lost - what's that and where is it?
  14. All the brake lights are working but the rears are LEDs so am not sure if there is anything non obvious that could go wrong with these
  15. It's 100% bang on the max line, I've checked a good few times. Oddly the Nissan data scan is reporting a front tight wheel speed of 130kph, but quite a few of the other sensors are reporting odd readings as well so I can't tell if this is a red herring or not.
  16. My brake fluid is on max - was changed last September as part of the p3 service
  17. I used something called Nissan data scan tool to connect to the ecus and it doesn't show any stored fault codes yet the problem is still happening. Anyone have any ideas?
  18. This problem is driving me crazy. I was on a drive to see the in laws a couple of months back and these lights all lit up together when on the motorway. I stopped the car at services and when I restarted it the lights were gone. A quick search of the forum revealed problems with the brake sensor so I cleaned the contacts and thought no more of it. 100 miles (several weeks for me) later and the lights all reappeared when I was approaching a junction. I decided to replace the brake pedal sensor (only £4.50) and after fitting this everything was fine for another few hundred miles when the lights reappeared on approach to a junction. They are now appearing randomly on most journeys. My brake fluid is showing max and was replaced in September, so it doesn't look like this is triggering it. One thing I had noticed is that if you start the car with your foot resting on the brake pedal it doesn't move smoothly as the vacuum comes in, it feels like it catches. It's fine at all other times. I have an OBD2 cable lying around somewhere, is there any software that I can use to connect to the car and see exactly what is triggering the lights? Thanks for any help.
  19. If it does turn out to be the wheel bearing it is a pretty easy job, took about an hour when I did my passenger side. When mine went it made a grinding rather than clicking noise though
  20. I'm of the opinion that for every hour you drive on the motorway you will experience a close call (so your Mrs isn't too far wrong). Generally it is people joining at a junction and attempting to pull straight into the fast lane whilst still doing 50...
  21. Came home and the spacers were on the doormat. Great service, thanks for helping me out.
  22. Wasso has come to the rescue of my (and the gfs) ears. I was told that if I couldn't stop the droning then I had to take it off. She was upset about doing it because she thought it improved fuel economy...
  23. I installed a plenum spacer on my Z and when driving experienced a horrendous drone in the cabin, which I traced to the right hand side of the plenum rubbing the strut bar. I played about with adjusting the strut but wasn't able to completely cure it. At this stage it looks like the best option might be to put some washers under the bar mounts (I know some of the kits come with these). Any idea what size and thickness I would need?
