  1. I have had my replacements delivered today (prechecked before sent out) and they fit the tubes properly. I took a couple of shots where you can see the difference: Correct one on the left The correct one can be seen through the hole in the incorrect one. Both bushes are stamped 67415 but the ones with the big hole are also stamped Z1. Looks like they may have been drinking the day they put these in the bag at the factory! I am just grateful that the replacements arrived so quickly.
  2. Thanks Alex, I have dropped the supplier an email. Hopefully I can get this sorted quickly as the car is booked in with Sly next week to have it changed.
  3. Its a whiteline bushing kit http://s28.postimg.org/nl71y7sbx/WP_20140903_19_42_46_Pro.jpg
  4. I have bought the bushes and had them delivered today but am a bit confused by them - the steel tube inserts are tight when in the thinner half of the bush but loose when in the thicker half (the hole is bigger). Is it supposed to be like this as it looks like it would cause the whole thing to move around?
  5. I ordered a new wheel bearing and got round to fitting it after work today. I followed a guide on another forum, the only trouble I had was undoing the bottom hub bolt (although weirdly no issue doing it back up). When I removed the hub I was greeted by this: There seemed to be a lot of grease around the inside of the hub mount. The bearing looked like this: The old wheel bearing when turned felt gritty and made a metallic grinding noise, the new one doesn't. I uploaded a video for comparison:
  6. I'm in SE London so a bit far to go. Thanks anyway. I
  7. Not long after purchasing my car I noticed a sort of whining/grinding noise when driving which was coming from the front passenger side wheel. I jacked the car up and it sounded like the brakes were binding slightly, so I asked for some advice and then left it a month or so until I had time to clean everything up and cure the problem. This morning I took the caliper off the wheel, and removed the disc. I couldn't see an obvious binding point so decided to clean everything up and go from there. As I rotated the hub it felt lumpy and made a slight metallic noise, it didn't spin freely like on previous cars. I took a look round the back and above the bottom bearing bolt where there is a small half moon cut out (what is this for?) there was what appeared to be grease oozing out. There was evidence all over the plastic back cover of the bearing that it had been covered in grease. I am assuming this is abnormal because the other side is completely clean. Reassembled everything and span the wheel fast whilst lying under the front and could hear a faint rumbling, could also feel a lumpiness where I was holding the bodywork. Oddly there isn't any movement on the wheel. When rotating forward then back quickly there is an audible clicking noise (this can be normal on some cars so not sure this is relevant). I'm 99% sure that the bearing needs changing but not being familiar with these cars is there anything I have missed? Any suppliers for the part?
  8. Doesn't sound too bad a job, cheers.

    Brakes binding

My front left pad seems to bind slightly. I had the car in the air and the wheel doesnt spin freely. What causes this and how do I fix it? The car is on brembos.
  10. Picked up little sis from the airport on Friday (I won man points for fitting the luggage in the boot and not taking the bigger merc), but she got in and somehow managed to scratch the plastic round the gear knob with all the tat hanging off her handbag. Is their any way to repair this, it looks gash because its gone all white.
  11. That's weird, different cables (2004 car as well). I managed to get it working again, the under bonnet fuse had failed. I think it must have been from the terminals bumping in to each other when the connector came apart. I now have my new radio in and the GF is happy because she can play music from her iPod and doesn't have to suffer the same cds over and over.
  12. I set about changing the HU in my 350z this evening and encountered a problem when removing the old one, the 'big' radio connector came apart rather than come out of the HU (there were 2 tabs missing from it so it wasn't properly holding together). I put the connector back together with the wires ordered as per the below photo: http://www.mlround.w...z/ice/CC/11.jpg and tried the new radio, and had no power. I put the old radio back and still could not get the radio to turn back on. Is there a single fuse that could have blown to cause this or is this a connector problem? Has anyone else got a photo of the main bose connector so I can double check that the wires are in the right place?
  13. After looking at the workshop manual it doesn't look too difficult to get the diff out. Do the subframe and exhaust need to come out as well? How hard is it to get the old bushes out, do they need a press? Any difficulties getting the new ones in?
  14. Thanks for the quick reply. What's involved in changing it over and can it be left for a bit?
  15. Just looked under the new car and noticed oil on the exhaust, which seems to be coming from the diff mounting point. What is this oil and where is it coming from?
  16. I now own a lovely 350z, bought from Tony
  17. Looked at another one this morning. Looked like it had been in a rear end shunt - the rear bumper didn't fit right, the drivers rear quarter panel was a darker shade of orange than the rest of the car and there was rust on the rear passenger arches which had started bubbling the quarter panel.
  18. Tony's car does look fantastic and I did PM him earlier, only problem is I hadn't quite realised how far away he is from me (5 hour round trip on a good day), so I'm probably not able to get up to him until after Easter.
  19. Cheers guys, I had read that 1st to 2nd could be a bit notchy but on this one I couldn't physically get the car into gear until the revs dropped. It would have been too easy after an unaccompanied test drive with the engine noise giving me goosebumps to drop the cash.
  20. I went to a local indy to see a 2006 350Z (non GT) in grey. Car was in good external condition although there was some bubbling on the roof, looked liked tiny pinpricks in the paint. Internally it was again in good condition except for wear on the drivers seat bolster (cloth seats). I did have a bit of trouble getting the car into second gear when cold which concerned me quite a bit, the dealer said he hadn't noticed and it stopped when warm. Is this normal or something to worry about? The guy wanted £7k for it without any tax and was unwilling to negotiate, coupled with the second gear issue I decided to walk away. Any thoughts? Edit: It was also riding on linglong tyres...
  21. As a prospective new owner the car looks lovely and exactly what I am after. Unfortunately SWMBO has cut my budget because we need a new boiler and apparently hot water is more important than a new car (I disagree!), so I can't quite reach £7k. GLWTS
  22. I didn't get a chance to go looking at the weekend, apparently I have to finish decorating the bathroom first
  23. Seen one on autotrader that I am going to try and get a look at this weekend
  24. The answer to the first question is as little as possible because we have just bought our first house. The answer to the second is blue, although I am happy to have the orange as well.
  25. Just saying hi to everyone, my girlfriend has given me permission to buy a 350z so I am gathering as much info as I can before I start looking. Hopefully I can find a decent one in budget before too long as I have some road trips planned for the summer.
