  1. Tyres - £1000 (MPSS)

    Brake Pads - £500-700

    Brake Discs - £1500-2500

    Service costs - £400-600

    Fuel - 15mpg

Running costs depend how many miles you do really, I only do 4000-5000 miles a year so tyres will last 18 months at least and brakes every 24 months unless I'm tracking the car.

There are a few issues with the cars that crop up such as bellhousing fix (£700), gearbox solenoid issues (~£500 with transmission fluid).

Great to know the above, thanks.

Do i take it brake discs dont last that long?

Litchfield do very good maintenance pricing. Makes owning one and maintaining them properly far more easy to pay for

  2. March 22nd is the actual track day, just hoping for less snow this year

I see you managed to grab yourself a harness bar over on ROC, good work

Very jealous! Have a great time. Got a vid camera?

Yep the pile of parts in my garage is getting a bit silly! Seats, harnesses, harness bar, disks, pads, hoses, suspension parts...I keep the key safe so my mrs doesn't see :D

  3. Driving the roadster on cool, sunny mornings, nothing better, especially if you have a quality exhaust fitted and you can hear that V6!

Like all the other comments, the roof is reluctance to close at low temps. Best remedy, I have found, is to park in a sunny spot, give it 15 minutes for the solar UV to heat up the black canvas hood, and then it will close, no problem!

Tip: if the canvas roof flexes at the last section, nearest the boot, when you push it slightly, you are good to go! And then enjoy your Zed!

Or get a mohair roof fitted and never worry again!

Agreed its due to cold, bit of a nightmare really but worth it to hear the sound!

  4. Ive gone for elm327 wifi and bluetooth ones, hopefully they'll connect up ok first time round

Good luck with that I spent a good hour dicking about with IP address which means very little to me, just lots of numbers and decimal points :D

  5. Interesting replys...thanks for all your comments. I knew it would stir up some unfavorable comments but I'm surprised I haven't been called a dick a bit more :D

I've fully calculated running costs and have plenty spare to cover maintenance and fuel etc.

I don't do many miles, currently about 300 a month (I cycle to work 3-4 times a week) and my mrs has a half decent car (something called a 350z ... You may have heard of them) so my car will be used when I want, not need.

I don't want a 'supercar' I'm not interested in owning a Ferrari etc, I just love GTRs, the fact people label it as a super car (regardless if it is, or is not) is purely coincidental.

Need another go in one ... I WILL love one :D

  6. I use a wifi one with my ipad / iPhone. PITA to get connected first time, lots of googling etc, but it works fine now. I think it does say powered, I noticed the lights still on after I switched off the car

  7. Well I went to see the car today - and drove it home! Exactly as advertised, damn near brand new condition, barely a mark anywhere and the Rays are spotless - no kerbing. Full and complete service history, roof looks as though the car has been garaged most of its life and works perfectly. The car drives fantastically well - certainly doesn't feel 9 years old. One concern I had (having never driven a zed) was leg room - I'm 6'2, however its not bad. I could do with a tad more room, but I'm comfortable, and managed to drive for 3 hours today without any aches. I'm a happy man!

    Excellent, well done :)

  8. It may be cost.

Why don't we arrange to go to an arrive and drive day? I think it's £20 for 15mins.

Offers reasonable value....and people are more likely to spend £20 or £40 than £90 ?

    Just an idea

  9. To fully enjoy the R35 GT-R on track you require the suspension and transmission in race mode and the traction fully switched off.

You also should select manual mode and get those paddles working.

If you drive the R35 properly you will not be disappointed. :teeth:

    Alex. :)

I had it in full manual but I don't know what mode the transmission and suspension were in, I wasn't allowed to touch any of that.

To be honest I could have got a better feel for it without the instructor, I was a bit tense with him next to me. I need to try one on the road for a couple of hours with mixed driving I think :)

This, I think it's hard to make a judgement call when you have someone next to you. I personally would go out again but with a session on your own or something. Or as Alex says, go out in a car as a passenger of someone who will push it to it's limits :)

I'm a TERRIBLE passenger, even on the road!!

  10. I took one for a no holds barred test drive and if you fail to find it exciting when giving it MAXIMUM ATTACK then youre probably dead

However, I wouldnt buy one because I found the 97% of the time you arent giving it the max it didnt feel much more exciting than a mid size Audi. I concurred that as losing my license and probably getting banged up or cartwheeling into a field at 180mph werent the best of ideas I probably shouldnt buy one

I think that's it, the 97% of the time thing! I'm glad you know what I mean - I was feeling a bit stupid :D

  11. I can't believe you'd rather an e46 M3! Sounds like madness to me, but at the end of the day its what excites you that matters!

I didn't say I'd rather have one, I was just trying to explain what I like in a car :)

    Been there, done that :D
