  1. On my BMW there was an almighty bird mess on the middle of the bonnet. I saw it in the morning and straight away wiped it off with a damp cloth asap.

I found it had melted right into the lacquer and bubbled it!! T-cut, resin polish etc wouldn't make any difference.

Could I have done things differently? Might I have caused it!!!

  2. Cheers mate.

Gonna get up early tommorow. Been spurred on today by seeing that pitting go on the top!!!

    Wazzo has helped loads already.

Could I please ask, how did you get into the bolt recesses and the other areas that can't fit any type of tool?

  3. On my 350z wires from the plug to car were both identical and both yellow.

Both wires from seat plug to airbag were both identical and both yellow.

I connected them up one way, crossed my fingers and connected the battery. The airbag light went off and stayed off. As i had the passenger plugs to also connect and in case I had got lucky. I then swapped over the yellow wires.

Again I connected the battery, the airbag light went off and stayed off.

In my case they were non-polar. Mine is a 2006 UK. As yours are different colours it may be different!

Please don't trust my post and trigger your airbags!

What you could do... If you have an old seat with an airbag, is you could pull that white tab on the plug, swap over the wires and see if all is still good. Then you will be not risking your new seats!

  4. Also....

If you pull up that little white tab. It comes up about 5mm. You can then pull out the pins from the plug socket. You might be able to just swap plastics as I bet they use the same pins!!

Also remember to disconnect the battery.

  5. Hi mate.

My 350z had the plugs off when I bought it and I had to reattach the yellow plugs. My wires were both yellow and I was worried which way they might go. I tested with the wires each way and the airbags didn't deploy and the airbag light went off both ways too.

I thought that all airbag wires had to be yellow on all cars so mechanics knew to avoid them.

If you are thinking of swapping the plugs maybe keep the 350z sockets. If you look Into the seat end of the socket there is a resistor linking both wires.

Do not try and scope it with a multimeter as it may set off the airbag!!

    Good luck!

  6. NeilP - no mate. Not a bargain any more! Don't rub it in lol!

I'm going to get it fitted as it is. I can't afford to bin it and buy a new one (roughly £170).

Reading a US thread about the factory flattened area agency power and the mugen mid pipes. Apparenty if the bore is reduced by 5-10% then this won't be noticeable until the flow reaches 90-95% of the maximum possible flow. No idea if the zed ever reaches this maximum flow rate or if it does at what point.

If I feel any negative change I will get it cut and repaired as Alex suggested.

Maybe it would knock on the chassis anyway if it wasn't there!

    Thanks for the help. :D

  7. Got motivated and did another 3 hours!!!!!

I think 95% of the top is ready for wet and dry. No pitting on any of the top 6 raised bit edges. Might go out later and do some of the edge.

Tried an area with wet and dry, 180,600,1200 and it still didn't mirror up. Think as wasso said, definetly need a polisher.

  8. Thanks all,

Aaron I think.your right. Found this picture. Bit confusing as I thought it was all about removing any restrictions in the flow. Maybe this small area doesn't make a huge difference?

Thanks CS. I did already PM tarmac to see if he can help me on this. But thanks again.

  9. Hi,

My "used" scorpion exhaust seems to have had a very special modification!!!

The centre section has been squashed down maybe 1-2cm. The previous owner said "don't worry about that, it used to knock on the underside of the car before."

could i ask, Is this flattened area going to make any difference? Or is this 5inch long area small area not really relevant in the grand scheme of things?

Worth me heating it up and getting it round again? Worth me even fitting it as it is?

Bit gutted, it was my weekend plan!

    Thanks in advance!

  10. Wasso....

I'm throwing in the towel mate.

I gave it a good go but its too time consuming. I'm also not going to get a good result without ploughing more money into equipment and products!!

To.make it worse, after spending 80quid on a plenum, there's one for sale for 30quid delivered in the for sale section!!!

Think I might get the rattle cans out lime I4N suggested.

Thanks for all the advise mate!

  12. I've got the Zed off the road for 5 days starting next wed. Got loads to do!

    1) install scorpion exhaust and cobra y pipe.

    2) swap over shocks with eibach springs.

    3) install pop charger and silver intake

    4) new bleed nipples. Replace fluid

    5) vinyl matt black the roof

    6) remove the clocks and find that damn rattle

    7) HEL brake lines.

    8) LED Bumper sidelights to be installed

Should all be OK, its just the bleeding / hose change I'm a little concerned about.
