  1. When i fitted my Alpine head unit a few weeks back i needed to earth the head unit via the loom wire ( the wire with a eyelet crimp on the end of it). Think it was a black wire.
  2. To date I've had no problems regards power to the amp.
  3. I bought an Alpine CDE-W235BT from Halfords a couple of weeks ago. Not a dear stereo but I've been very impressed by it,especially after doing Buster's mod. The interface kit I bought from Incartec included the connector to keep the steering wheel controls. Ian (14N) has one as well and recommended it to myself.
  4. As far as I can see the 4 RCA plugs ( red, white, black and yellow ) will go into the preout sockets. The small black phono plug goes into a socket ( think it's labeled RC ) on the back of the head unit. The 2 bigger white plugs go into the sockets you pulled out of the Bose unit. This leaves the black socket with the yellow circle round it which should plug into the other end of the lead which goes into the back of the head unit. From your pictures I can't see any plugs on the other end of this lead?? One other thing I had to do was put in wires and links to the socket connected to the phono plug depending on the make of head unit. The instructions for this came with the leads.
  5. Am I right in saying that you have steering wheel controls as standard with your original Bose system. The lead/leads that u got from Incartec go between the lead that came with your new head unit (green circle?) and the plugs you pulled out when disconnecting the Bose unit. There is a patch lead mentioned on the Incartec website that you might also need. Are the 4 sockets at the bottom right hand corner preouts?

  8. There is a HKS SLD Speed Limit Defencer Type 3 on Gumtree under Nissan 350z which sounds like what you are looking for ( don't know anything about them lol).
  9. Have you any links to where you got it from?
  10. Hope you find link ok. I carried out this exact mod for a head unit I bought last week to replace a cd skipping Bose unit. It's only a matter of cutting off the RCA plugs (red, yellow, white and black). When you then strip back each cable you will first find stranded wire around an inner bit of PVC cable. This stranded wire when wound together is the -ve. When you then strip back the inner wire this is the +ve. These 2 wires are then connected to the speaker output from your new head unit. The colour of the inner insulation is the colour you match it up with on your stereo ie if green inner insulation, inner core goes to green speaker wire and outer stranded wire goes to green/black. Repeat this for other 3 RCA plugs. I used heat shrink to stop +ve and -ve wires touching after soldering. Hope this helps. Regards Richard.

  14. Can you post up any photos of your engine bay? It would give fellow forum members the chance to give you the best possible remedies.
  15. If the car is brand new could you not put the onus on the garage to sort it out?
  16. Cheers Ian. Nice to hear you are pleased with it. I'm planning on going round to Halfords tonight for a demo as I just reserved it without any research, on the spur of the moment. Us people over here in Norn Iron love a bargain! Regards Richard
  17. Reserved 1 of these head units today from Halfords for £107. Wanted to know if any members either have experiences or advice on this unit . Presently I have the standard Bose setup which skips. This Alpine has only 1 preout but I understand I can use the normal speaker outputs. Reservation open for a week so any advice welcome.
  18. Cheers. Thanks very much. Would you recommend the Pioneer 2400
  19. Hi everyone. Quick question. I have an 03 350z with Bose stereo, amps and speakers I was thinking of changing my head unit due to it skipping. Am I right in saying that I would need one with 3 preouts with as high a voltage as possible. Also any recommendations on a reasonably priced head unit would be appreciated. Regards Richard
  20. Very impressive looking setup. Will be v interested to hear how you get on. Good luck!
  21. Surely it must be good value at just over £2 a bottle if you buy 3 packs!
  22. Hi everyone, Just noticed that Halfords have their Autoglym Perfect Bodywork Gift collection ( contains x1 325ml bodywork shampoo conditioner, x1 325ml super resin polish and x1 325ml extra gloss protector ) on offer at £10. This is a 59% discount. There 3 for 2 offer on cleaning products is also still on, meaning you can buy 3 packs for £20. Hope this might be of use to someone. Regards. Richard
  23. Thanks for the advice KyleR. I've sort of got used to the plate stuck on with no problems yet. Having said that I quite like the original holder and might still buy one if it wasn't too dear. Regards RIchard PS What part of Northern Ireland are you from?
