  1. thanks for the feedback but im still looking at a revvy N/A build. I like to against the grain and do something different and N/A is just the ticket. Might look into a very low boost supercharger with some headwork/ect. try and get the most out of the motor i can before going FI.
  2. Chock the wheels mate.....you'll be surprised how hard it is to push a car over a chock or brick. i know, but if it does come over and im under it its lights out. then again, hurtling towards bends at silly speeds (on track ofc) is too. the life of a petrolhead.
  3. 380 rwhp is easily achievable, not much behind a low boosted supercharger. Plus i dont want to supercharge, everyone supercharges. I want to do something different.
  4. Right, advice time please: Rather than go the tried, tested and proven route of supercharging i want to go for a revvy N/A build. What i'd like is some advise. I'll be keeping the budget to a bare minimum on this and my car is daily driven so needs to be off the road for as little time as possible. The things im after doing are : - Headwork (port + polish, gas flowed) - Cams changed - New springs + retainers - Maybe new valves if i decide to go +1mm or the valve seats need re-grinding - New pistons - New con rods - re-use stock crank but have it edged and lightened. - All of the other stuff (head bolds, bearings, intake ect) The stuff like the pistons/rods will need to be done in a shop as i cant come close to changing them. But what i can do is build the heads and then have them bolted straight in. Is it worth doing this to save the time/money of having them rebuilt or is it more hastle than its worth to do if i mess something up and send a valve spring through the rocker cover. Ive budgeted around 6k for the entire thing. Parts are around £4k and labour is around £2k based on info gathered from the internet. The other option is to get a blown engine and then have it built professionally and then swapped back into my existing car. This would help with the downtime of the car and might halp recoup some of the costs as my current engine is a fairly low mileage one. I should probobly speak to horsham / abbey at some point but would like to tap the wealth of knowlege here first.
  5. entry, standpass and tracktime booked, thanks chaps!
  6. exhaust is an invidia gemini that was fitted about 3 months ago so should come off fine. My only major worry with this is that i will need to have both rear wheels off the ground and on stands on a slight slope. Doing the front doesnt worry me but the rear is a bit more tricky. I want the ARB's done anyway, might have a crack myself and if it looks too hard get them fitted by someone with a ramp.
  7. im in the east mids, near ashby de la zouch. Not to fussed about the washers as i can re-use my own. Whats the general condition like?
  8. perfect, i assume i pay via the link on page one but where is sayd to copy and paste the following link is blank. Am i missing something?
  9. looks like i'll be having a pop then. thanks chaps.
  10. im tempted to DIY, only worry is having both rear wheels on stands and no handbrake. I have a week off work and will be doing brakes/coilovers. was debating doing everything while its all off and nothing in the way.
  11. As mentioned really. Im looking at fitting a set of eibach ARB's and powerflex drop links. Ive looked under the car and it looks fairly simple but i'll have to do it on a slightly inclined driveway using axle stands. Is it possible or should i just pay someone else to fit them on a ramp and save the hastle?
  12. as described. Im in need of a fairly clean black front bumper. Mines mis-shapen on one side and scuffed on the other and would need far too much spending on it to be worth doing. Ideally i'd like it posted but can collect if in the midlands.
  13. i know its a bit late and im sure i know the answer allready ( :pmsteveburns: ). but are tickets + tracktime still available?
  14. The zed is a good 6 inches wider than a 307, which isnt exactly small itself. Its also about a foot longer than a 307. I find the width more of a concern when overtaking than power. It can generally overtake most things without a fuss.
  15. still handled like a charm though. Very well balanced car.
  16. bravo sir I maintain that 100 on the motorway is safe, but 20 past a school isnt. Plus the highway code states "match your speed to suit the road conditions". At 2am down the M1 you could really get moving nice and safely. But at 3pm past a school slow down. Agree with the lane hoggers too. If your doing 70MPH in the outside lane of a 3 lane motorway when the middle lane is just as empty. Im going to undertake you. Same as old people (and my mother) who do 45 MPH everywhere. I clocked her doing 38 on the M42 yesterday. Points and a fines for bieng too slow need to be issued.
  17. i have no experience with a 350 but with my old BMW Z3 the brace mad a massive difference. I didnt notice when i fitted it (came without one OEM) but when i took it off it was very noticable.
  18. just out of curiosity, is this bolted to the rear hatch or is it tigerbond?
  19. Im sure someone weighed a track prepped and caged car at 1350. I cant remember who or when though but remember the thread. Also going off memory i believe it was fully seam welded with a full weld in cage with all non essentials stripped out.
  20. as of last year if it came with cats from the factory it will fail an MOT if it does not have cats fitted at the time. However, if it passes the emissions test i cant see an MOT place failing it.
  21. My normal role over the last 6 xmas' is to roll in from the pub around 5am, put the turkey in, get up about 10 felling like i got ran over by santas sleigh and then finish cooking the veg. I usually manage to get the veg done to a good standard but the turkey vastly depends on whether i turn the oven or not. Butchering a turkey into bits that can be cooked in 2 hours will get you a severe telling off.
  22. interesting, does anyone know an easy way to diagnose dodgy seats?
  23. mine only heats the back, as does a friends 350z....do some people have the base heated?
  24. If its stainless it will last donkeys years, its likely to be tar/road grit buildup. Im sure it will be fine. Try scrathing it with your fingernail. Should come off easily.
