  1. I know the engines on these cars are fairly bullet proof and that nowadays nearly all car engines can cover high mileage, but is anyone else still put off by cars with loads of mileage? My MX5 only has 45k on the clock and its 2000 model. I keep looking through auto trader etc.. and see cars I like, but when I see 80k miles for instance on a car costing 7-8k it puts me off a bit. what sort of mileage has yours got and would you be put off by high mileage? BTW - I know a car that's supposedly spent a lot of its life doing motorway miles should be okay, but there's no guarantee.
  2. for £120 I'd drive up there and wait whilst they did them and then drive back Just checked and they are still offering the deal. http://www.citypowdercoating.co.uk/#!__price
  3. I paid £120 for mine to be done on my MX5. It maybe to far from you but the place is called citypowdercoaters in Birmingham.
  4. Are we still talking about a van here?
  5. I haven't got my car yet, but have been reading up and dreaming of the mods I want to do. I love the extra noise you get from an induction kit, but having tried various induction kits on my MX5, I gave up because of the loss of low down grunt. The heat soak of the alloy pipe and the hot air being drawn in, really murdered the engine and it was especially noticeable during the summer months, not to mention the extra fuel I was using, and in the end I went over to a supercharger. One of the things that MX5 owners do, is to use a decent panel filter and drill the airbox. That way they got the sound and not as much heat. What do you guys normally do to combat the problem?
  6. I've also heard it called "Atomic Orange". Is that another shade?
  7. Welcome mate. I must admit I'm jealous, I haven't found my Zed yet, and the orange is my favourite coloured Zed especially with the orange leather interior. Those wheels are stunning.
  8. About 8-9psi M45 Jackson racing Supercharger with a smaller SC pulley and a crank overlay, EV14 550 injectors, intercooler, and Megasquirt 2 with mods. gave me 218 bhp, not bad from a car that was 110bhp standard. All fitted and road tuned by me, with a final run on a rolling road to fine tune.
  9. What are those 19" wheels with the polished rim?
  10. I used AEM without any problems in both my Mk1 and Mk2 MX5's.
  11. Looks great do you have any close ups?
  12. Not really, you pay 3k less for a Cat D and you get 3k less when you sell it. Net loss is the same as U.K Zed. Might take you longer to sell it though. Pete Problem is that the cat c/d's I've seen are going for 6 - 7k. 3k was just a number I plucked out of the air, could be 2k, 4k anything really. Pete Most of the ones I've seen with about 60 -70k miles on them are around the £7.5 - £8k mark.
  13. What is the the head unit of choice that will work with the bose speakers, bass and steering wheel controls? I haven't got the a zed yet, but have been looking around to see what is available. I want iPhone compatibility, DVD, mp3 sat nav and input for a rear facing camera.

  15. More than I can afford at the moment, but a very nice looking motor.
  16. I dont want an auto. I've had a couple of quotes. I'm 48, full no claims, wife is a named driver, car would be fully comp and the highest I had was £356 for a 350z GT4. Its usually around the £300 mark, my SC'd MX5 with all mods declared is £329.
  17. Hi mate, I'll be putting my Ultra Yellow 350z with 19" Nismo LMGT4s and V1 Nismo Spoiler up shortly for sale prob around May/June if you would be interested has got 55000 on clock, FSH and just passed MOT yesterday with no advisories or failures PM if you want some pics or further details. PM sent. Is there any reason why imports are an issue? I know that with the MX5, insurance companies raped anyone that had one and Mazda dealerships, thought the parts were different.
  18. Thanks for the replies. One of my biggest problems with a cat c or d, is the resale value. I tend not to do a lot of miles, my Mk5 had 39k on the clock when I bought it 2 years ago and I've only done 7k since I've had it. The cat C and d or seem like they've got low mileage, but the resale value is going to be crap.
  19. I've been looking for a decent low mileage( upto about 60K) 350z and have come across loads of cat and cat d 350's that hav been repaired and they all seem fairly steep. Can anyone tell me what the difference between a cat C and a cat d? Are they worth buying? I have about £7000 to spend and I dont want anything in silver, because I've had quite a few cars in that colour. I really like The GT4 yellow and think the orange with orange interior looks stunning.
