  1. Hey everyone, Okay first things first, you'll need one of these; Just your typical CD marker pen. You'll also need a microfibres cloth. So I started with a small yet noticeable scratch; After a couple of minutes of gradual marker dabbing. Combined with some dabbing from the MF cloth and we now have this; I've now done every single scratch, including the notorious cubby cover scratch; BEFORE: AFTER I know it's still not perfect but its a lot less noticeable and doesn't take much time or investment. Remember to use the MF cloth to ensures nice matte finish! Cheers!! Leighton
  2. This is weird, I had to put mine up as far as it would go. It wouldn't even shut with it pushed right down?
  3. I bought my z from this guy! 84,000 miles for £5,700. Don't think I had a bad deal?
  4. wow, what a fantastic response! Thank you everyone!! So, I've just turned good friday into angry friday and spent the entire day mucking around, and getting absolutely nowhere! For those asking I am based in Bristol, so don't know if that helps? Awesome if any of you are nearby! I wonder if there is any way of wiring the sub with a seperate cable, in the same way that the previous guy wired in all of the speakers seperately? Would perhaps be easier than rewiring everything back to the original setup! I guess it's worth me taking one of the speakers out and checking what's left as it could just be a case of plugging them all back in to the original wiring? Still beats me why they would go to all of the time and expense of independently wiring all speakers, rather than a simple ISO adaptor? Were the clueless or something!? Thanks again everyone, what a great lot you are! Leighton
  5. Hi everyone, I've got a bit of a problem! I have no power to my sub and four cut wires behind the head unit! I'm guessing this will be fairly simple for someone who knows what they are doing, but to me it's impossible! So..I'll chuck some money to whoever can help me out So, there's two things I want to get out of this; 1) Find out if my Z has standard wiring or if the red and black wires are entirely new and have been put in by somebody, at some point! 2) Gain power to my subwoofer (standard bose) I'll start with some pictures: 1) Here's one of the original bose connections - no problems here! 2) Here's a second original bose connection - no problems here also! 3) Here's where the problem lies! Four wires have been cut and i can't see where from or what for, any info would be greatly appreciated! Why would they do this? Am i right in thinking this is why my sub has no power? 4) Here's the black and red wiring that comes from the drivers side (This is labelled up for front-left, front-right, back-left and back-right and is now what plugs directly into my head unit) All three of the original bose plugs don't go into my head unit at all! 5) This describes my last point - Also notice another cable which has been cut - the green one 6) This is the connection for my pioneer. All of that cabling into this little dude, and straight to the head unit 7) and this is just my aerial - but what's the extra green cable about? Many thanks in advance. Leighton
  6. Hi everyone! Bought this on Tuesday, arrived today. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200877776539?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649. Fitted this evening on one side to test, and looks like this; New bulb on the left. Really works well and enables you to actually see inside the car ( and in my case, allows me to perform more mods in the dark ) Anyway, sure most of you have thus already, but it's for those that don't to benefit from.. Cheers!
  7. Would you believe it, mines an 05 as well! Definitely wouldn't pay anyone, it's pretty simple! And halfords are really useful to speak to and get an opinion (for free!) I'll take a picture tomorrow morning and post it up for you to see what I've got plugged in where, would you be able to do the same? Would help me loads! Cheers, Leighton
  8. Hey everyone, Not sure if anyone cares but eurocarparts.com have up to 50% off most if not all stock. Includes clutches, pagid discs, cleaning kits etc etc! I just got this tidy lot for £22! Cheers!
  9. Not sure, it already had a JVC unit in before so not sure what connectors it had. Don't buy the link you just sent though, way overpriced! I bought the same facia but the pioneer can't screw into it so had to bodge with elephant tape! Will post some pics of the wiring I have as well. What year is your z by the way? We could help each other here as some of the wiring isn't right in mine (the sub has no power) and four wires have been cut from behind the HU! Cheers
  10. pnthrblkzs - will get some daylight pics up tonight for you. Devilz - you can keep it one colour, and can pick from 210,000 different ones! Will be matching mine to sunset orange If you don't want it bright, it has a dimmer too.
  11. Hi everyone, Spent some time over the weekend fitting a new head unit. I bought it from halfords at the reasonable sum of £120. It's a pioneer fh-x700bt, with built in Bluetooth, USB, aux etc and sounds pretty awesome! Doesn't look bad either! Comes with the microphone for calls and gives much better clarity than the POS jvc single din which somebody felt the need to put in before!
  12. Toad - your story describes my exact situation over the last couple of days! I've now got a rubber grommet (about the thickness of three coins) and three coins and it seems okay but still not right! Hope somebody has a solution, it's annoying!
  13. I got the sub from a member on here so am sure as can be that it works, just think they wired in something different as thought the bass was lacking, looked behind the sub cover to find nothing at all! Have now sorted the wiring into the subs amp and plugged everything in, rewired to sub etc. now just the mess behind the HU and believe me, it's a mess! Cheers!
  14. The stock wiring from the subwoofer amp to the head unit. There's currently no power at all to the sub and after looking behind the head unit, think it must be down to one of the four wires that have been cut! Why do people do this?!? thanks for replying, will be attempting this tomorrow (weather permitting)
  15. Hi everyone, I'm having a bit if a nightmare with the wiring of my head unit. For one reason or another the previous owner has cut a load of the wires, both going to the sub and also to the head unit. I'd just like to know which colour from the head unit powers the sub woofers amp? I've looked at the wiring diagrams but don't think a laymans wiring diagram exists anywhere! Struggle to understand how anyone could learn how to wire things in with all of those letters, numbers and colours! My car is an 05, uk coupe but presume the wires are the same in all? I want to know as want to prevent blowing anything up! Thanks very much
  16. Great - thanks everyone. Won't be going with those! CS - as per pm, I'll be in touch!
  17. Hi everyone, I'm looking at these brake discs but wondered if there's a reason to them being cheap? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KINETIX-GROOVED-FRONT-BRAKE-DISCS-Nissan-350-Z-350Z-BREMBO-TYPE-03-324MM-/270897131110?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f12ba2e66 I know the importance of discs but does the rule of "you get what you pay for" apply? Thanks in advance! Leighton
  18. Hi chaps, Any more codes, I'm really interested! Thanks, Leighton
  19. Okay so I recent had a thread explaining my sub was missing. Couldn't be bothered with the fuss of fitting an aftermarket one so went standard (thanks octet) Now, I expected to get it and just plug it in but the mess of the wiring isn't allowing me to do so. Does anyone have any ideas? If not, where could I go to get the mess sorted out? Here's some pics of my dilemma!
  20. I wouldn't even consider doing it out of the can. Look into getting a spray gun, will give much better, even results
  21. FUG - I'm not sure, I never use my (excuse for a) boot! It depends how careful you are I guess. Should withstand a bit of knocking but if you're going to abuse it then it will get damaged. Of course, you can always just peel it off and spray it again! Cheers
  22. No prepping aside from cleaning and drying thoroughly! Then watch some videos on youtube by dipyourcar for tips. Just spray evenly for at least 4 coats, with 15-20 minutes between
  23. There is a small amp above where the sub should be. I presume thats the amp for the sub and not the other speakers? Where abouts is the other? Also, does anyone know the wattage of the main sub amp? I need to make sure I match the powers right? Will be getting an upgrade as opposed to the Bose one. Cheers!
