  1. They're really not hard to get to that kind of level. I'll put the full spec of my engine up later but that's basically only running a cam and a new map. They're typical american engines... loads of capacity but running well within their limits. Which is perfect for drifting
  2. It's a good Hp to use as a base man ;-) If you win the lottery, buy 10 LS3's let me twin turbo them for you and we can have them over 900bhp and 1000lb.ft of torque lol
  3. The LSA's ok but already getting 500bhp and 525lb.ft at 3000rpm so that's not much of a step up. Want to be aiming more at the LS9 levels which are around the 650hp mark
  4. Yeah it's open. Been two days there so far. There aren't really any run off areas yet so its a bit unforgiving at the moment but there's nothing around like it you're never done with modifying cars :-P I wish it was done mate but there's still quite a long road ahead. How are you finding the SC on your motor? I've wondered about charging the LS Thanks man, glad you like it
  5. I'm in the North East at Darlington so not too far away. you need a judge for your fwd drift off ill be happy to help ;-) I can't wait to get to drift land the vids I've seen so far look pretty sweet. Teesside is my local track
  6. The mrs and I have been in the garage most of the evening and we've nearly got all of the deadening out now cannot believe how much it weighs. Soon it'll be out with wire brushes and then the welder
  7. No problem, it will be one of the first places this monster heads too I used to love crail, was pretty rough but was great fun and used to eat tyres couldn't aford to go there when I'd put the V8 in cos a pair of tyres wouldn't even do a full lap lol
  8. Haha I'll do my best mate but it won't go the same way as knockhill cos it's made and run by drifters for drifters :-)
  9. Lol i agree but think if you can come up with a bluebooth or wireless version of that you will be a very rich man Are you talking about drift land? It looks like an awesome track that's been set up by a friend of mine. It'll be a perfect place for you to learn to drift No I'm an engineer for Cummins Diesel Engines so I get my hands dirty but work as more of a consultant helping the OEM's fit our engines into their machines
  10. OK...... so over the weekend the dash board came out with what's left of the interior in the front. First things first............. I won't be needing this anymore Then the dash came out. Can't believe the amount of wires in comparison to the skyline. Also all of the ECU's and little modules hidden everywhere in there Next I started to remove that big wiring harness, which took quite a bit of routing out Ended up with all this!! which weighs about 10kg Out came the under dash cross member. This will be going back in eventually but with a few of the unrequired lugs and stuff cut off. It's quite a work of art Heater blower already out now to lift out the main climate control unit. If anyone is after a blower that big black box let me know as I won't be needing it anymore Gone!! Now for all the sound deadening. This is almost as little fun to take out as the spot welds but my girlfriend does actually enjoy doing it, so it's role reversal now. I'll man the Kettle and she can do the work There is so much more to do, then the wire brush will be out to get rid of the rest of the little bits of glue left over by the hammer and chisel. I hope you're enjoying the build so far. It's all destruction at the moment so really looking forward to starting to put new bits in. Feel free to ask any questions or give any tips/suggestions
  11. StevoD and I were talking about this earlier. Sounds like a good idea
  12. There was a time I was the same there's even more out now after a busy weekend, will update the pics when I get in from work
  13. Awesome, Have you been drifting much, sure I've seen you there a few times when I've been down. Dont worry about the little E36 with more seat time and a few tweaks here and there the Z will destroy it and he won't see anything apart from tyre smoke Keep an eye on this and feel free to ask any questions as we're going along
  14. Keep watching on here and check out my facebook page for updates too Hi Stevo, what do you need help with my man? I can probably help with a few bits now if you let me know what you need. Is there a drifting section on the forum? I'll be able to help more once I've started developing parts, like for more lock, strengthening the subframes, moving the rack forward, etc. etc. It looks like your avatar is at Norfolk arena will you be down there on July 13th for the charity night? I'm going to be helping out so can hop in with you if you like
  15. For the guys wanting to know roughly what this will sound like and what the skyline used to sound like. Here a couple of vids which might help The rest of the weekends work will be going up tonight
  16. Yeah it'll take a fair bit of doing but should be worth it in the long term Thanks all for welcoming me into the forum
  17. Next steps were to do some of the easier jobs so..... Doors off Boot off Bonnet and Wings off Right I'll let you all have a read through this stuff and I'll update later today or tomorrow with the Dashboard, heaters and wiring harness removal pics Stay tuned
  18. OK guys so as promised here are some pics of the work done to bring you up to date Carpets out Now the big job of removing all of the spot welds to get the section out behind the seats and the rear strut brace [/url My helper working hard I got bored of drilling out spot welds at this point so I just cut out this bit Looks a bit cleaner Scrap Pile is getting bigger Rear strut brace gone Last piece above the fuel tank gone Pile of scrap is pretty high now
  19. Cheers man, yeah I'll post one up when she's alive. Got the interesting task of completely building the exhaust system from scratch so kind of interested to hear what it sounds like myself. I'll put up a vid of the skyline later so you can hear what the engine used to sound like Yeah I'm kind of dreading the impact it'll have on my bank account but at least I've already made the main purchase of the engine so that will really help. I'll keep you posted ;-) The LS3 is a fantastic engine and can't wait to see what it's like in a small, modern chassis like the 350 I'm up in Darlington so feel free to drop me a PM and pop by when you want
  20. Cheers guys It's a long road ahead but I want to be able to use that car next season and it has to be complete for the Autosport show at the NEC in Jan. I'm looking at having it out for testing though in the next 4 months money permitting. I travel a lot with work which eats up a bit of time but as long as I can keep the cash coming in I should be able to achieve that. I uploaded my new pics last night so will get them up at lunchtime
  21. I think they're used in those too but my engine, box, prop, etc. etc. etc. all came from a Camaro SS (Bumble Bee from Transformers :-P ) I have seen that it's cheaper not really sure why though as it's the replacement for the T56 I have definitely looked at Syvecs but the best quote I've been given for it is £3k fitted and mapped which I really can't afford at the moment
  22. haha hope I can be of service Done a lot of research about fitting the LS into the 350 chassis and it looks a lot simpler than doing the R33. You'll need a new sump too to fit over the subframe but I'll be making that too. Picks of all this stuff will go up as it unfolds so you can check out my workmanship before you buy :-P At the moment its all about the tear down getting the chassis prepped for the big work ;D
  23. Definitely!!! I got the LS instead of going mental in modifying the standard skyline engine. I'm glad I made the choice and have not looked back since, for old technology they are fantastic engines. Just keep them cool and they'll run for ever
  24. Thanks for the kind comments so far Wasso - No I'm making all of the mounts for the engine and tranmission in house so will be able to make up a kit for fitting the LS engines into the 350 shell no problem for you. That's what I did for the Skyline as Sikky didn't make a kit for that and it was sooo expensive. The transmission I use is the TK6060 which is the newer version of the T56. It has cooling vents in the bell housing and an internal pump to feed the oil to an external cooler, absolutely essential for these boxes as they get seriously hot. I used the standard ECU for the last 2 years. It was great, mapable and very capable. The only downside is that you can't do live mapping with it so you have to keep turning the engine off and downloading the new map everytime you make a change. I think I will be moving down the Emerald route for this season. Hope this helps but feel free to drop me a PM anytime
