I have made money over the years too, all through hard work, no silver spoons here. Some people seem to resent that but I think you should work hard and play hard and I feel sorry for anyone who is consumed by envy. I was surrounded by very wealthy people in the last two places in which I lived but I didn't consider it productive to spend all my time hating them. Negativity is toxic

Thanks Pete. In that case it doesn't sound like a fox would have got him because he was young and strong. I was still living down south when he went missing but my daughter has been checking on a lost animal site regularly and she works at the local animal shelter/helps out at another cattery but I will get her to check round everywhere again, just in case. I thought I saw him up in the village a few days ago but it was a feral tom cat and not Sabbath

Thank you both. My daughter works at a rescue centre and we adopted Sabbath from being a tiny kitten so we were devastated when he went missing. We put up posters everywhere and asked around but we think maybe a fox got him He was a very characterful cat and used to go down the orchard every evening with my daughter to help her put away the chickens and ducks and it seemed very lonely without him at first. I still hope that he might come back one day if he is still alive.

Not sure I can definitely afford it yet Neil but you are right, what is the worst that can happen? If I test it thoroughly before buying to check that I like it, can cope with it and it will make me happy then it doesn't really matter if I only keep it a year or two. I have a terrible track record for swapping cars after a few months/weeks so I need to make sure I'm not going to do that but all these positive posts have made me really determined to 'go for it' if I get the chance

Now me, l absolutely love those lights I saw my first one on the road last week in Surrey and I thought it looked brilliant I will take your advice Bockaaarck and ask for a proper test over a few days if I do manage to afford one next year. I am slightly worried about the position of the engine as I've never driven a mid engine car and am not sure if I will like it or not or whether I won't even notice it and, as mentioned, the driving position and general low slungness of the car might be a problem for me.

I'm still waiting for my lottery win too I totally agree with you about making life as pleasurable as possible though because of not knowing what is around the corner. When you are young you think you are invincible but that feeling wears off in later life

I'm a laydee so not going to reveal my age, ha ha I have a 21 year old daughter though so I'm definitely 'mature'. I'm not looking for a 'scientifically' worked out answer though, just interested in the thoughts and experiences of others in my position

My old man had to make a similar decision some years ago when he was lucky enough to own an almost brand new TVR Cerbera 4.5 V8. It's very low to the ground and after almost 2 years of ownership he had to admit defeat as it was killing his back getting in & out. Still though he enjoys nice cars and his current one is a BMW 335i M-coupe which is very fast but obviously a lot easier for him to drive & get in/out of. Just buy what makes you happy twobears. If you don't get on with it then sell it but at least you'll know rather than just be left wondering. Thanks GMb, I know I can always rely on you to take a reasoned view on things My dream car as a child was a TVR and I managed to find two different boyfriends who had them but I've never owned one myself and probably never will now since they have been out of production for so long. I'm glad your father got chance to enjoy his though

I think my style of posting can appear to be faux naïf/naïve but I am genuinely wondering if I should be giving up on a lot of things due to my age and health problems. I won't make a decision based on the views of a load of strangers on a forum I promise but is is interesting to see if others have faced the same situation. I can't be the only one who still feels young but is, in fact, getting on a bit and has the creaking joints to prove it
