  1. Sorry i wasn't trying to be awkward, when i relate to the models of the 350z refer to PS - so i guess the models would be, 276, 297 then 308 bhp?? But I do think around a track the HR would do a lot better, revised suspension and engine goes a long way. obviously that gap would be closed with an uprev, ARBs, chassis stiffening, shocks etc And i completely agree, anything upwards of at least 30bhp is noticeable. And the early DE dispstick is the WORST in the world... well its not worse than having no dipstick *BMW ahem*! - STOOOOPID!
  2. Damn, sorry to hear that mate. In response to your PM - your most welcome. I know you want a zed for the show, but have you considered perhaps donating the bottom end from Zed 2 ? Hang in there, a resolution will materialize
  3. Forgive me but, i thought we got a standard DE (280ps), then a rev up(300ps), then the HR (313ps) engines? Also, i was informed that the HR zeds were completely revised, suspension, steering etc - despite minimal visible changes, perhaps i was mis-informed, perhaps its just 80% new engine and that' it? need to stop watching old fifth gear and listening to nissan dealers! lol
  4. To be honest if your not worried about the tax thing. Go for the newer one, purely because its newer and the best of the breed: engine, suspension etc. With regards to insurance and depreciation - its fantastic compared to an M3, Rx8 or Scooby. With respect to the power issue... not in a straight line. HR - stands for high revving. What it really means is: high maintenance in the real world on real roads, your only going to notice or feel horsepower differences of 30bhp. Around a track the 313 would trump the 276.
  5. If i was in your position. I'd be looking at an 04/05 model - cheaper tax and +300 bhp. Then exhaust, panel filter and uprev. job done
  6. 399 at the wheels on the first run.... *jaw drop*. Great news dude
  7. I think i can speak for all the fans of the Zee when i say; hope you get some good news over the phone this week. Literally cannot wait to hear some results! All the best
  8. I was looking at that. You could end up spending forever trying to shim it up correctly =/
  9. Hope everything went well today dude! I would have said good luck but you don't need it. This is by far the most impressive and inspiring build thread i have ever seen. Can't wait to hear the results, fruits of your labor etc etc. I'll have my congratulations prepared
  10. I have an OEM y pipe of a 2002 350z had only done 23k when it came Off the car, £60?
  11. Hi and welcome Best of luck! The zeds are really reliable all round. Don't let people who don't own Zeds put you off with the fuel economy criticism. Mine is a daily and it only does 3-4mpg less around town than my leon cupra R did. Tyres will be very expensive, so make sure you check those when looking at a potential purchase. In any case, you won't regret it
  12. You know you want to swap the Nismo diff for mine
  13. I went for the kaaz because i've sourced a nearly new 2nd hand item for a great price. Thanks for recommending me to Z1, thats a great help. They have fitting kits for some of their clutch type LSDs for installation into the open. It looks like the OS-Giken will bolt straight into an open diff. Yeah your right, the quaife unit will bolt straight into the open diff. Thanks again, i'll drop them a PM and see if they can hook me up with a fitting kit
  14. Sorry, full link here: http://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-driv ... -trim.html
  15. Hi Guys, I'm trying to convert my open diff to accept a 2 way LSD. Ive put up a wanted thread for VLSD stub axles so if you've got a pair spare, let me know From this thread: http://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-driv ... -trim.html it seems that i need: The stub axles, and new oil seals from the VLSD. The kaaz LSD comes with new bearings. Can someone confirm that this is correct or if anything else is required? Perhaps i'm being silly here... if the kaaz kit comes with new bearings do i still need to order O.E bearings from the stock LSD? Many thanks and please forgive my dumb questions
  16. Bit of a weird one... I'm looking for the stub axles from the VLSD. The reason being is that I'm trying to convert my open diff to accept a 2 way LSD. From this thread: http://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-driv ... -trim.html it seems that i need: The stub axles, and new oil seals. The kaaz LSD comes with new bearings. Can someone confirm that this is correct or if anything else is required? Thanks for looking
  17. Hello! I've heard a few good things regarding superpro's front suspension bushing kit for curing some of the cars natural understeer. I'm looking at doing a tyre, suspension & alignment type thing to my car. Since i've been thinking about doing bushes anyway i was wandering, what is the alignment correction kit all about? And, do they do this kit for the 350z ?? Thanks
  18. I've been quite keen on the maxis ma-z1 drift tyres for a while now but they don't come in stock sizes. Reason is based on my driving style So I'm thinking about 245/45/18 on front and 265/35/18 or 275s on rear. Am i looking at a huge combined rolling error with this setup? Will it muck up the handling?? (something I'm more concerned about) Or would people recommend keeping stock sizes and going for the ultracs or 452s? Many thanks!
  19. Hey, sorry to bump an old-ish thread but, If you don't mind me asking, what sort of quotes did you get from soton and winchester with regards to your P2 service? Cheers
  20. Personally the only clay bar products i've ever used is turtle wax ICE liquid clay bar and Bilt Hamber Auto Clay. The reason is, i used to do a lot of detailing by hand and to clay, polish and wax a car would take all day. Leaving the car wet saves so much time, so i wash, clay, then wax (all when the car is wet). Personally, i've found no benefit to polishing before waxing, unless you're using compound with a machine to remove scratches. Since its cold out, i use the Bilt Hamber Soft Auto clay. The Auto Clay is designed to work with only water as a lubricant. It works brilliantly and costs about £12.
  21. Hi and welcome Yes, a South Central meet or similar would be awesome ! Good luck with finding the right one
  22. Hey, Apologies for bumping an old thread. But i promised i'd put pics up and intend on keeping my promise. She's not one of the most gorgeous Zed's out there, but to me she's everything, beautiful. ^^ Love that 'dome' rear end look. I know some people don't, but the look is improved with the PHAT fujitsubo exhaust that unfortunately can't be seen here. One of the first 5000 fairladys ever made. My future plans are: Get a clutch type LSD in there, i fear this may be difficult as i'm pretty sure its got an open. What do people reckon? New brakes all round: Im possibly thinking about plain discs (for stealth purposes) with Cosworth Streetmasters on the front and EBC yellowstuff on the back. Any recommendations? Fluids and plugs: Gearbox oil (OE), Redline oil, not sure if it should be a 30 or 40 weight since its been mapped? And Denso plugs.
  23. Awesome, ill probably do that when the time comes (when it gets warmer lol!) thanks
