  1. There are two bids on it so far - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ferrari-F430-replica-kit-car-stunning-example-carbon-fibre-/200801179873?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item2ec0aed8e1
  2. Mine had some rust coming through at the top of the rear wheel arches and needed some welding on it for its MOT, so it was time to move on - I do wonder who has got it now. The zed is a great car too, great fun to drive - having the top down on mine is the best way to drive it although the summer weather isn't allowing much of a chance.
  3. Me too, I had my FTO for 9 years before I got the zed. I love the zed, but the FTO is a pretty special car. I think quite a few of us on here have taken the same path.
  4. You can see the test system that was used on page 2 of that review and the components are not in the stratosphere in terms of cost and are not the best of the best. The mobo they used you can pick up for £125. An i5 processor on a decent motherboard clocked up to a reasonable speed will comfortably balance a system if going the SLI/crossfire route - which looks like the option thats been taken. neo-ninja is a gamer so graphics are an important factor in the final system - so I'd suggest getting a motherboard and PSU combo that'll support the extra card and then the option is there of getting a good FPS boost in the future when the cards come down in price or when funds allow. The mobo choice of the ASUS P8Z68-V LX has good overclocking capability and is actually crossfire compatible to boot, so you could add another HD 6850 if the PSU can cope with it, although tbh, you'll probably find you're happy with the system as it is.
  5. A quick google turned up this review for GTX480 SLI. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_480_SLI/1.html Performance figures for a couple of games Crysis 2560x1600 4xAA single 480 - 19FPS SLI 480 - 36.2FPS Dirt 2 2560x1600 4xAA 16xAF single 480 - 63.1FPS SLI 480 - 116.4FPS I did say it depended on game and resolution - lower res and the second card makes less sense. I game at 2560x1600 with as much eye candy turned on, so SLI is good for me. For multi-monitor set-ups it may also be a good idea to go SLI and you may also get better performance for the cost of an equivalent single card. With regard to your other comment, I've had the 480s now for about a year and a half - they were pricey to start with and the 580 has not offered enough of a improvement - the lure was there but I resisted. So overall I disagree, under the right circumstances SLI is definately not stupid - although it doesn't look like it would suit the OP's requirements.
  6. Came to this thread late and it's been an interesting read. I'm still very much a PC enthusiast and gamer with BF3 being my game of choice. SLI GTX480's work very well and give almost double the performance depending on the resolution and game. SLI didn't start well, but now I think it's well worth considering. Oh and +1 for a self build as you have more control over the components.
  7. You are all more than welcome to join up and have a bit of banter in our teamspeak.
  8. Oh yes - come and join our clan http://www.fragandbag.com/
  9. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14456065 Speechless with this - how low can they go?
  10. Jealousy I suspect - I've had "that's a nice Micra that you've got there".
  11. Like the suspension has colapsed, liable to generate gufaws rather than admiring looks.
  12. Insert a suitable swear word here <..............>
  13. Just ordered these - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0230035806 anyone else bought from this person?
  14. Yeah, I suspect if I'd have been more patient I'd of been able to get a few hundred more for it if I'd held on for longer and tried selling it myself. Looking around at what other FTO's are going for and the fact I negotiated money off the price of the zed too clinched it for me. Judging from the comments in this thread almost makes me feel like going back to the dealer and saying that there's been a terrible mistake Interesting that that there are a few ex and current FTO owners here and it's not just me that has gone down this route. OK - first on the list is some decent looking floor mats - advice and recommendations welcome.
  15. The FTO made a great sound due to a cat bypass pipe and it had coilovers so the ride was harsh but handling really good - I actually think my FTO was a better looking car than the zed, especially with the Veilside bodykit. In terms of performance though the zed is way better, the ride is better and the noise it makes when you accelarate with the roof down is superb - in terms of the wow factor the zed has it over the FTO in spades.
  16. I got £1000 for the FTO, which I think is fair - I hope they find a good owner for it who will look after it - I hate to think that it'll go to someone that isn't going to give it TLC - I'm hoping its looks will attract the right buyer.
  17. Picked up the new zed roadster today and traded in my FTO. Took the following picture just before I went into the dealership to do the deed. My old FTO is obviously on the right and my new zed is on the left - I did feel a little sad as I've had the FTO for 9 years, however the drive home in the zed was sublime - such an addictive driving experience, even tho it was raining and I had to keep the roof up, it was fantastic. It dried up in the afternoon and I took it round some friends to show it off and had the roof down - had a massive grin on my face the whole time. Now I've got it there are a few things I'd like to sort out - Need floor mats as it hasn't got any Scratches on drivers door handle couldn't be sorted by dealership although I see its possible to get a carbon fibre cover for this. New stereo as I want to use it with the ipod The first one should be easy, the others will take a bit longer to sort out (once the bank balance has recovered a bit). Anyway, I'm addicted - tremendous fun car.
  18. Update time. I contacted the dealer and we've got to the bottom of the engine anomaly - its been imported from Ireland, hence the late registration date, which I think a couple of you suggested. He wansn't able to get a proper look over the car as it was at the body shop getting the minor paintwork issues I spotted sorted. In his conversation over the phone with the bodyshop he was able to confirm it was a 296 engine. As this new information had come to light he explained that he totally understood if I wanted to pull out of the deal and he'd refund the deposit that had been taken if I wanted to do so. So weighing things up, we've established its a pre 2007 car registered in 2009 (DVLA has 2009 as manufatured date too). Looking at the advantages - It only has just over 8000 miles on the clock. It doesn't need an MOT until next year. The interior and exterior will be mint. It'll have a 12 month warranty. The dealer is 6 miles down the road from me. It's a bit different from most of the other zeds out there. The dealer has been the honest and straight with me throughout the process. Also I know I got a good deal as the sales director had misunderstood the discount I'd negotiated and embarrasingly asked for another £250 from me to break even on the deal after I'd shaken on it with the sales manager and they'd taken the deposit - obviously I refused and the original deal has gone ahead. So basically I'm happy with the deal again and I think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages - basically I think I'll be struggling to find another zed as good as this and I plan on keeping it for a long time, so resale value will not mean much once I'm done with it. So - if anyone here thinks I'm mad then please speak now or forever hold your peace.
  19. I now understand the differences in the engines and I don't remember another air intake coming down the left hand side of the engine bay. I'll obviously be having words with the dealer tomorrow about this - is it normal for a car to be manufactured and then hang around for at least 2 years before its registered? I'll be looking for some answers to this. Thanks for all your help on this - the wind has been taken out my sails somewhat, but I'd rather find out about this now rather than later. Update - I've just had a look on the DVLA website and did a vehicle enquiry - Year of Manufacture is recorded as 2009. It looks like this car is a bit of an enigma
  20. Here's an ad that claims its a 313 but it has the same bonnet as mine - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ogcode=emf
  21. Cheers, My Posts are being moderated so there is a bit of a satellite delay in my responses. Unfortunately I didn't take any pics of the engine bay but I obviously did have a look, but can't remember the details that would swing it either way. I'm planning on keeping this car a long time before moving on and I was impressed with the performance and sound - I'm still going to go ahead with the sale unless there are some alarm bells going off with someone on the forum. I checked the service history and the background check did say that there was no record of the car being imported. Should I be worried?
  22. Link to the original advert is here - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ogcode=emf I've done all of the background checks - it was registered 1/07/2009, nothing dodgy has come up with the rest of it's history. Where else should I dig?
  23. If someone can put me right on the engine size query above that'd be great. Does 13BHP make that much difference anyway?
  24. Hi Everyone, I've just put down a deposit on this - Will be picking it up next Saturday and can't wait. Would I be right in saying its the 300 GT model as the 313 would have the bonnet bulge? It's a 2009 one and having a look around it seems that the 313 was introduced in 2007, although I've seen some adverts for other Zeds that claim they are a 313 although the bulge isn't evident. Is there generally some confusion about this. Anyway, next week can't come soon enough and I hope the weathers going to be decent so I can get the top down
