  1. I've never been a Mercedes fan. I like sports cars too look like sports cars. I don't like rep mobiles with big engines thrown into them. Suppose that's why I don't like the look of the M5, M3 etc. I appreciate the engineering but not the looks. Just looks like any other merc with AMG branding. Now the R8, 370z etc they look like proper sports cars!
  2. I've had 2 astra VXR's. I bought a new one in 2008 from woods vauxhall. I was going to buy a demonstrator for £18000 as they cost £21000 new. The sales manager told me about vauxhall partners scheme. I managed to buy a new factory ordered car for £15400, because I was a member of Unison!! Drove the car for a year and sold it for more or less what I paid for it. To this day any car i get my Wife always say's, "I don't think this is as fast as that blue car you had"! Lol. Think it was the turbo tbh and the induction noise was awesome, but torque steer it did and under steered around roundabouts etc with the slightest throttle. I ended up getting it stage 1 then stage 2 before i sold it.
  3. The Z4 35is m sport, also has great performance, good on fuel and cheap tax and pretty rare. You can tell them from other Z4's because they have silver wing mirrors. Still not made my mind up yet, every time i decide on one , 10 reasons to buy the other come up. I'll get there though. I'm keeping my z4 3.0si for my wife, so that's a reason not to get the Z4 etc etc! Lol
  4. I bet he shagged them both together, ...lucky bast**d. I'm saying nothing mate You know you would if you could. Although they're probably both in their 40's by now. Many a good tune out of an old fiddle!
  5. Can I ask you why you preferred the 370z over the cayman s? Was it because it was a Nismo edition?
  6. "my wrench was simply deforming the female hex slot". I like the sound of that, lol!
  7. Guy at work said the Cayman S was a "poor man's" Porsche! I don't know many poor folk who could pay £50k+ for a new Cayman. Apparently and don't quote me on it, but the new Cayman shares around 75% of its parts with the 911??
  8. That's the problem, I'm 100% not! Cant rule the 370z out, as the low price for a newer car is tempting!
  9. My mate's got a standard one, nice car but too many seats and FWD! I've had 2 Astra VXR's never again, no matter how good a diff it's got!
  10. The only thing about the Z4 is that the first e89's came as 23i (2.5l 6 cylinder) 30i (3.0l 6 cylinder) and now a 18i (2.0l 4 cylinder twin turbo), 20i (2.0l 4 cylinder twin turbo) 28i (2.0l 4 cylinder twin turbo), 35i (3.0l 6 cylinder twin turbo) and 35is (3.0l 6 cylinder twin turbo). I suppose this gives customers choice but in essence there really only 2 different cars with a few tweaks. Aesthetically the only difference is twin exhausts on the 35i and 35is.
  11. The dealership had a 911 carrera 2 s (996) for around the same price as the Cayman S but i seriously liked the look of the cayman better. But i do prefer the 997 but out my price unless it a high mileage car.
  12. The Z4 and 370z are only 2 year old but the Cayman is a 2008, so unfortunately not the new model!
  13. Great advice, but I'll never clay bar a car again! I clayed my wife's new mini 2 years ago, using AG clay bar kit. It was a hot day and i apparently didn't use enough lube and i scratched the whole car to death, even the plastic pillar trims. It took a pro detailer 2 days to put it right and the scratches can still be seen to this day. Totally my fault though and not AG's. But in my opinion i used loads of lube but i think it was too warm a day.
  14. Last month I put a deposit on a new BMW M135i. I loved the way the car drove and BMW was doing a cracking PCP on them. A week later I started having second thoughts as I just couldn't take to how it looked. Then I watched top gear and although I know Clarkson can be ridiculous at times, his comments still carry some weight with most viewers and I got a bit of stick at work. Anyway BMW made a blunder with my order which I wasn't happy with as it was setting my delivery date back by weeks and the price was increased. The dealership agreed that I could cancel my order and I did. I then reverted back to my previous choices of: BMW Z4 35is M sport in alpine white. Nissan 370z GT in white Porsche Cayman s in seal grey. I spent the last week visiting dealerships and I had an extended test drive in all 3. The things that were most important to me was how the car looked in the flesh, performance, mpg, servicing and road tax. All cars looked stunning but in the flesh the cayman looked best in my opinion. I felt, and I'm no expert that the z4 35is was significantly quicker (May have been because it was twin turbo). The BMW was also the most economical by far. Servicing and road tax was also cheaper in the Z4. I felt the 370z was the most practical car and easiest to live with daily. It also had most driver space. But I know it sounds ridiculous but I cant get past the Porsche badge. In order of preference the BMW came out on top and having the same engine as the M135i was a bonus. Followed by the Cayman and finally the 370Z. I know I'm no expert and I'm still deciding what to buy but the Cayman is tempting.
  15. I've been researching what charities to donate to lately. Came across these 2 articles and found them to be interesting reading. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/10224104/30-charity-chiefs-paid-more-than-100000.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2550648/Fury-234-000-salary-boss-Save-Children-Charity-chiefs-huge-wages-reined-say-MPs.html
  16. Sorry Lexx, i think you picked me up wrong. I never suggested that folk should donate there hard earned cash to charity. The point i was trying to make was that the programme was in bad taste, considering the poverty thats rife in our country. I said if i could afford such a car i would get more pleasure donating the cash to charity. What folk do with there cash is there business but i simply felt the wealth on show for a car was vulgar. And your right i don't donate as much cash to charity as I could. I believe charity starts at home and I'm currently helping a family member in need. But it's only my opinion it was in bad taste and I'm sure they help the needy. What did you mean about the "lower levels"?
  17. Good points there Lexx. I'm happy with the cars i have owned and my all time favourite car is possibly within my reach now, (nothing too expensive). But think about the poor sod's out there who struggle to scrap a living and those living in extreme poverty due to unavoidable circumstances. I'm all for people aspiring for greater things but i don't think Rolls Royce gained anything from the show.
  18. Yeah fair point. They probably donate £££ to charity, but in my opinion it was a bit crude and vulgar. Yeah, I've bought a few BMW's which could be a bit construed! Depends how you look at it, some would argue a BMW is unnecessary, when a small cheap car would do the same job. I cant argue the point with you but I think you know what I was trying to make.
  19. I love cars, but this show on TV left me speechless. There's children suffering extreme poverty in this country never mind children starving to death in developing countries. The folk involved in this show seemed proud as punch but I was left with a feeling of disgust and IF I could ever afford to pay for diamonds in my car i would rather spend the cash helping others!
  20. Yeah my 2012 E92 sport plus edition coupe came with the 313's. Good looking wheels and really easy to clean. But look naff if you have small discs and callipers on a E92 2.0l. I'm buying CSL replica's next week with a staggered fitment birth quite a concave dish on the rear and a slight concave on the front. I was quoted £1180with hankooks. Guy phoned me back and said he had a clearance set for £600 with budgets fitted!
  21. I've decided to have a go at machine polishing my car myself. I'm looking to invest in a machine polisher that's suitable for a beginner. I'm going to wash and cleanse my car, then machine polish and finish off with waxing. I would appreciate any advice regarding machine polishers and products.
  22. That's exactly the same wheels I'm looking for, are they CSL replica's?
