yep agree that smooth and polished is not the way forward.. i just took out all the casting marks, lettering and big lumps and bumps then roughed it all back up again and anyway the intake plenum on the Z doesnt have any fuel in it just air so its all about increasing air flow.... fuel is injected further down the system

from reading quite a few threads on different forums it would seem that 5mm from the top of the front intakes is the norm i then took out all the imperfections and lettering, joins in the castings and smothed things out a bit then went over it all with a wire brush. dont know if its the combination of the two (y pipe and plenum) but it feels a lot more torquey mid range now check out the motordyne website for actual dyno results of the MREV plenum (not saying mine is as good or will get the same results but for what it cost me im happy!)

yep have a 2007 revup and yep i know the cats are the most restrictive part of the system and i know to get the best i need either HFC or decats and the Motordyne race cat but at the moment its just the Y pipe.... toying with Berks HFCs....
  5. if the sun is shining and you get the roof down she wont need any convincing... the sound will sell it on its own not heard of the roof getting slashed down my way either. nothing but good things to say about roadster ownership so far
  6. yep i know of someone. my wifes grandad before he passed away first decided that he couldnt really drive at night safely so stopped then a few years later decided that it was risky for him to drive at all so sold his car. fair play i say.
  7. wrap it..... it will look cool and if you dont like it the wrap will just peel off anyway with no damage done (other than to the wallet)
  8. sorry cant say what year or even if it was a roadster or a coupe as it was the wife that saw you and she cant remember but it was last night

    y pipe

Cool thanks for that Mark... just what i wanted to hear.. not that bothered about top end power and am really looking for nice midrange pull. have fitted the Motordyne pipe and my version of an MREV2 plenum.. do you do dyno work on a Saturday for a reflash of the UPREV i have already had done? sorry for the thread hijack... not entirely off subject i guess

    y pipe

sorry Mark prob getting our wires crossed... talking about the stock Y pipe not the Motordyne one. the earlier stock pipes are a different shape to the later ones as you can see from the pics above. the DE ones have much tighter almost 90 degree bends to the pipework where the later ones have a series of 45 degree bends and have the point where the 2 join further back from the CATs. not saying it will be much better but having had a read up on a few of the forums they HR one sems to flow a bit better than the stock DE Y pipe not if fitting the Motordyne XYZ to a stock system will make much difference? maybe you can say?

    y pipe

    looks different to me?

    y pipe

i have just fitted a Motordyne XYZ pipe to a fully standard system. not sure how much difference it has made but the car 'feels' like it has a bit more mid range and spins up a bit quicker but that may be all in my head. it certainly makes a little more noise but not much. when you look at the standard y pipe compared to an aftermarket one you cannot help but believe it has to help with the flow as the stock y pipe looks soooooo restrictive! stock Motordyne every little bit helps i recon! ok the next most restrictive thing is prob the CATs and then the rest of the system (i am sure i have heard that the rest of the stock system is good for 400hp or something like that) anyway you could always look at fitting a y pipe from the HR motor (one for sale for £40 at the mo in the sale section) its not quite as good as a full after market jobby but it flows better than the earlier ones

making the most of the not great driving conditions to finish a couple of projects standard 276 lower plenum let the mods begin getting there standard lower in place (with plenum spacer) ok its not an Mrev2 but its close! (dont worry i remembered to put the spacer back on!) oh and while i was at it...... stock setup under the car thats better... thanks Motordyne! and on the car cant really comment on any change as its raining here so no playing... will be popping back to abbey for a reflash on the dyno and to see if there are any changes for the better
  14. It's bonded to the tailgate. It did have threaded holes in the underside but the guy at the paintshop said that bonding it would be soooo much easier and it wouldn't go anywhere Got it from www.spoilerdepot.com
  15. well after asking about and looking online i found a nice subtle looking spoiler in the states so decided to have it shipped. just had it painted and fitted... very pleased! will take better shots when the weather improves.... next on the list is fitting the lower plenum i have been modifying and playing with and the Motordyne XYZ pipe i ordered yesterday then back to abbey for a reflash on the dyno
  16. http://www.driftracing.co.uk/?p=Drift-Gift-Days anyone been here?
  17. its .co.uk but thanks having a look now have you done it? or just looked? ok... looks ok but although willing to travel buxton is a LONG way away gotta be a few more closer to home?
  18. OK myself and the misses (shes a bit of a petrol head and a bloody good driver) are pretty interested in doing a drift day. anybody done one? any experience? suggestions and thoughts? we are based south east but are willing to travel a little.. would prefer to learn in someone elses car though! not looking to get into drifting but would like to learn to get the back end out and control the slide a little. obviously this is for fun but also has an element of safety to it as being able to catch and recover a slide would be a good thing right maybe we could get a group together from here and get a group buy discount on a day out?
  19. was just about to pull onto the M23 at Crawley last night when a sunset coupe passed under (approx 8pm) tried to catch up but i got caught in traffic and you were not hanging around pulling into brighton passing the pavillion a white nismo looking coupe was about 5 cars in front (about 8:15 pm). i got caught at one of the many set of lights and never managed to get as close again before i lost sight as we got near the sea front again you were not hanging about
  20. young lady driving pulled in in front of you on the bike and gave you a little wave then carried on through the huge que of traffic you were stuck in
  21. am currently insuring 3 cars with them including the Z and you would not believe how cheap the fully comp insurance was on all of them... will see what happens next year when it comes to renewal though
