  1. Yup, Ill take those at £150. Will collect at the weekend if thats ok. Simon, As we spoke this morning my insurance wants £200 more if I fit these so unfortunately on reflection cant buy them.
  2. Just talking to a mate today about our last cars. Thought I would ask people here to list there last 5 cars. Mine to start it off 350z coupe sunset Chrysler crossfire blaze red 200sx s13 candy red BMW 325i coupe Manta gte coupe red Seems to be a theme there all rear wheel drive jap or german all red or redish Normally keep cars for 4-5 or so years so this goes back to about 1995 What have you had over the last 10-15 years
  3. Well, as the snow has gone and I'm back to work I will try to get my gasket off on Sat morning and get it scanned. Can't scan the top of the plenum itself as the laser scans from the top with a laser mounted 2 meters above the scanning glass and reads from below as a normal scanner. Ideal for flat objects but not too good on 3D items. I have had a look at the space I need and am quite sure I can fit a 10mm spacer without a problem. 1m x 1m 0.25mm gasket sheet from E-Bay is about £6 to make my own extra gasket which I would prefer to liquid gasket. Spacers for the strut will have to be washers as now I have had a better look I can see the mountings are cranked, and so full plates are impractical even though I have access to a press brake. I have a few ideas about the central spacers. Watch this space for pics.
  4. As you probably know (and will see when you get yours from Scotland), they tighten onto a rubber gasket and there is zero chance of them getting stuck unless they are cross threaded. If you are going to get one of these stuck then you should not be opening your bonnet in the first place, leave it shut and take it to the garage when the red light comes on!. Anyway the spoiler worked and the group buy is off, mine (as I think most people who liked the look of them) are on the way individually. Just not worth the hassle.
  5. And on that note - I'm out. I totaly agree these are not Nismo items just a bit of cheap bling for the engine bay. If you need Nismo items then go and pay £80 a cap. Do not buy these if you are not capable of deciding if the thread is too tight a fit or do not know when a cross thread is about to occur if its too sloppy a fit. IMHO there should not be a problem at all with a mass produced machined billet oil cap,(Just like the generic blue ones JDM sells) but there again I have a degree in engineering and can make my own decisions on things like this. As the quality has been questioned with a tale of woe attached, I have ordered a single set for myself and will report back when I have tried them. Obviously once I have a set there will be no incentive for me to organise a group buy, but I am sure someone else may take this up once a couple of people on the forum have tried them out. I will Pm those who expressed intrest to let them know its off for now.
  6. No Prob Daryl thats why I posted the E bay link in the first place. The forums for sharing! We will only save about £7 anyway if it comes off.
  7. Fitted on the car Yesterday along with stubby and gear lever. Looks if i do say so myself. And before anyone else gets in Ill get some up at the weekend I only see darkness at this time of year in the week.
  8. Ok Guys. I have a price for multiples of 5 sets which factoring in customs charges and re posting out comes to £27.50 per set. If everyone is still interested at this then I will set up a group buy and get the mods to move this post. Obviously I want a set and there are 5 others who expressed an intrest so we would need 4 more to get this up to 10 sets if you all still want a set. Let me know by Friday if you can as the longer we leave it more chance of the exchange rate moving. Martin
  9. From Rich - Rtbiscuit Thanks Vic, found his old for sale thread, but was hoping for a UK trader. Have found some on e bay but from the states. Shipping is more than the caps
  10. Saw these for sale by Vic54 and was gutted to have missed them for £25 the pair. Have found them on Ebay in the states for $21.95 but shipping is $22.95 to the UK If more sets are ordered then shipping for the subsiquent sets combined is $10.95 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NISSAN-3 ... ories#shId Anyone else interested???? or better still does anyone know if they are available over here. Dont think this classes as a group buy but if it does sorry if I broke the posting rules. Still wet behind the ears! Ok 3 peoples interested quite quickley so I have emailed the guy asking for a shipped wholesale price on 5 sets and 10 sets I will let you guys know the answer and then we have to figure out how to do this within the forum rules, exchange rate and possible vat sting on arrival. Not looking to make anything on this but dont want to lose out by getting the vat sting.
  11. Vik, Can you remember where you got the rad and oil caps from as I would like a pair myself. Gutted that I missed these. Martin
  12. Well, They went for £276.00 with lots of bidding at the end. Anyone on here have a punt?
  13. Ok 100 members viewed 100+ views on E-Bay up to £104 what's the forum opinion on these. worth a punt waiting till last seconds to bid Maybee! see how bidding goes no chance! pile of Sh1t Please post your responses so I know if to bother next time I spot something
  14. Any good to anyone?? Only reached £100 so far. Not my cup of tea but someone may like them. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/20-alloys-350z-37 ... 2c59a25426
  15. bought them but not fitted yet Look good anyway
  16. Well if I do cut the 10mm and its too big then I will just cut an 8mm one no real problem. It literally only takes a couple of mins, if that, to cut one of these on a laser cutter once you have the program. The cost is ( if its not a one off foreigner) £100's per hour but cycle times very low. I know that the existing kits come with nylon spacers for the centre 6 bolts on the plenum as this both spaces and seals in one but as this is a one off I think I will cut spacers from the ali plate the same thickness as the spacer and then use a gasket to seal top and bottom of the spacer. Does anyone see a problem with this apart from getting it all to stick onto the longer bolt once its upside down, and i think I have a solution for this. I have read somewhere in a guide to fitting a spacer that the gasket is metal, is this true? If so how does anyone know how thick is it and what metal its made of. As long as its not copper ( Reflection of the laser energy from copper can blow out mirrors and cost a lot of money) and 0.5mm thick minimum then I could just cut another gasket to go with the spacer.
  17. Well guys call me a wuss, but I have decided that it probably isn't the best idea to take the engine apart this morning on a gravel drive covered in snow and ice. Had a couple of inches overnight and its now coming down thick and fast. Actually got the tools out of the shed and lifted the bonnet. Stood for a couple of minutes head under the bonnet checking out the positions of bolts how to remove the strut bar air intake pipe etc etc. No problem should only take 15 mins! Think a 10mm spacer might just fit. Looked around for the tools and they had 1/2" of snow on them. Mmmm when I drop a bolt dont think I'm gonna find it. Dont have a garage to put the car in since it became a downstairs loo and utility for the missus. Therefore wont be scanning the gasket this morning. Ho Hum no excuse now not to go shopping! Needless to say it will be in the Ka not the Z
  18. Makes absolute sense sir. Will try it tomorrow before dismantaling.
  19. I have just gone to sort out material to try and cut this tomorrow. Typically we have used all the 8mm ali plate this week. I have either 6mm or 10mm I could use. What do people think would be best. I will probably use 10mm as I cant see 2mm difference stopping it from going under the std strut brace.
  20. Sorry Alex didnt think to send an address and didnt get a reply off you regarding price on new gasket. Also didnt want to presume the free used gasket was a given. I will try and get a scan of my gasket but thought it might stick to the plenum halves and once its off at work if the gasket breaks or leaks i will have a hard time getting home if the car goes into limp mode due to air leaks. Will wait until the weekend to take it off at home and will nip up to work in the Ka on Sat morning to scan it. look out for photos of the scanning on the forum. Its a nice bit of kit but expensive at around £50K. Still to put it into perspective my new tube laser cost nearly £1,000,000. I am working up to Wednesday next week and could cut the spacer up to then. I dont really have to do this this side of the holidays but once I have put an idea out into public domain I usually like to follow it up quickly I will scan my gasket as suggested but will also need another to fit the spacer and try it out. Dont fancy the liquid gasket as they can be messy and a pain to get off again. I have Pm'd you with an address Thanks again Much Appreciated
  21. And he may even have a preowned gasket that you could have for free However there is much more to the plenum spacer kit than just a piece of 5/16" ally. This has been talked about many times by the forum's budding entrepreneurs My advice would be if you want to see this through then go buy a proper MotorDyne kit and use as a prototype. Alex you have PM
  22. Have a read of http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 50&start=0 and http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/Tutorial ... eplacement (taken from the thread.) Thanks Chris Just what I needed.
  23. Yea Husky have seen that now, its being done by Mattme as a project. This is just a one off for me as I have everything I need to do it for free in a couple of lunch hours. Should it work ok and Mattme cant get his off the ground then we shall see where it goes. If I can get a gasket within the next couple of days then I will be able to cut the parts before crimbo and fit it during the hols. The laser scanner makes all the difference to reverse engineering stuff like this as it does the drawings for you. I have got a price from Nissan for a gasket but at nearly £100 and having to come from The Netherlands thats a no go. Have already done the thing as he may have one. Other things on the go. Working on a custom laser cut grill from polished stainless. Fiddling about with interlocking Z pattern with the 350z logo in the centre. Dont know if this will look good or sh1t but we will see in time. Replacement gear knob here but having trouble removing stock one. Clear front reflectors in shipping ready for led running lights. S2000 stubbie dispached but not arrived. Led door handle lights here but not fitted. And to think 2 weeks ago I told a mate I would not be going down the modding route!!
  24. Ok done some more reading and I'm deffo going for this. Need a bit of help from more experienced members. Where is the best place to get a gasket from for the pattern. Should I go to Nissan stealer and pay there prices or is there an alternative.
