  1. +1 You have done a lovely job and the car looks great. Sure it is mint and has no issues. But because it has been marked Cat-D, you have to knock 3-5k off a similar non written off motor. A shame but that is just the way it is. Good luck with the sale!
  2. JESUS those things are big!!! Saw them and though of you AK
  3. All I want it a matte black, back to standard look really. I suppose I could get the gear from RT and ask my local place to do it for me. As their only issue was that the stuff they were using wouldn't stick. Or do people think it is something I might be able to do myself?
  4. OK ... they recon they are going to sell it off for charity now... but even so.... WARNING TURN OFF YOUR SOUND!!!! http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/jay- ... 2011-08-12
  5. Yup... but as you so rightly said, OEM is pants! So I am going to try to trace the mic up to the top of the A-Pillar, see how it looks. Only have a few hours to work on her this morning as she is off to have the dents in her panels taken out... Wish me luck!
  6. Yup... Video - 6/10 Music 8/10 ( prefer the original ) That is NOT me... just one picked at random from on youtube
  7. Yup... :EDIT: This is NOT me... just a random vid from youtube...
  8. Because a mic is a headphone as well...
  9. Pretty sure you can just use any mic... Seems like a standard 2 pin mic. Could even use headphones as a mic at a push till you get a proper one. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230618153068

  11. I rest my case I ran my cable all the way round the A pillar over the screen behind the headlining and just left of the visor, so that a passenger can talk on the phone without struggling to reach the mic on the A pillar without shouting Yes, Yes... you are right Ian But I do agree with Dave on your other point... isn't the hands free kit only for drivers? The passenger can just use the phone!
  12. Yeah... Been thinking about trying something like Plasti-dip... I don't want Carbon fiber... just want it to look new and standard again!
  13. Starting to agree with you RE doing anything OEM. Yes, I have a mic, just wanted to try to use standard....
  14. £200!!! Bloody hell! I don't wan't/need ALL that doing... the guys locally were going to do it for £80. (But obviosuly failed) Anyone in the Midlands do this sort of thing for Circa one hundred notes?
  15. Just went to pickup my nice new dash from my local wrapping place... They have said they CAN'T wrap my center dash fascia! Said they soaked the vinyl in some cleaner or something but that it just won't clean enough for the wrapping to stick to it. Am I crazy thinking LOADS of people have done this all ready? Where did you get it done... and do they offer a postal "wrapping" service! Gutted.
  16. Something tells me it it down to postcodes...
  17. Here is ANOTHER Q for you... Which side did you fit the camera? Drivers or Passengers?
  18. Thinking about it ... If you ran TWO cables instead of one.... Hooked one up to the power for your camera, and the other to your reversing light... You could then have a switch in your glove box and with the use of a simple power supply from the HU (I may use the remote) you could switch between "Camera Always ON" to "Camera On ONLY when in Reverse" Trying to decide if it would be worth doing this or not... Would I ever need to have the camera on when I WASN'T in reverse?
  19. Also... trying to work out the best way to link up the mic for the hands free. I THOUGHT the mic was next to the Dome Light... But the user manual seems to say different... Will have a look at lunch.
  20. Gotta agree on the shopping list... Also, sort out your tax disc holder... Wheels look good though..
  21. HA HA HA ... sorry Dave! On a side note, yesterday I managed to wide up the power cable to be battery (WITHOUT the fuse in the fuse holder, for saftey!) Also got Tam involved in the build. Getting the sound deadening sorted... Clever Tam suggested cutting on of the pieces into four, so two for each door. Clever Tam! Tam did this section. Very well I might add. Getting the section right for the sub. Put a load of sound proofing foam in the bottom to level out the sub, no not worried about the cracks in the deadening membrane. Bolted the sub on this near corner so it will stay in one place in an accident or "spirited cornering" Next job really is the head unit and wiring in the amp.
  22. Can't find one Does that mean I will have to run a cable from the spliced reverse light cable all the way to the HU for it to come on automatically?
  23. I have a pioneer btb-200 unit that I am linking the H/U too (still not sure where I will be able to hide it!) Just wanted to pinch the cable from the standard roof mounted mic, which I am sure is just a standard twin core Mic. No-one done this? sparky350z... any pics of your mic in situ on the a-pillar?
  24. Yes... BUT I think you only need to link to the reverse cable head the HU/Gear stick? (Still looking into this on mine!)
