  1. Just got my zed today but didn't notice the clicking when I test drove it. GRRR. Luckily I paid a very very reasonable price for the car so I don't feel so bad. Clicking is when I accelerate or release the throttle (when the drives shaft are loaded and come off load). I have done a search and read a little about it. Is the consensus to try re-greasing the CV joints first or just replace? Clicking is pretty quiet now and it's a roadster so I am going to notice it due to constantly having the hood down.

    Anthony.

  2. The timing is very critical, it should work though. Depending on where you are there may be a member with a reader that they can plug in to check. :) Always nice to identify the problem if you can.

I am a mechanic and have a reader at my old work, just a pain in the neck to get over there. I can't see it being a real problem as it only came on after I fitted the pop charger, car drives fine too. :headhurt:

  3. Yeah a runabout is pain. I have been driving a 1.8 focus about for the last year and although its a great handling little car and comfortable its SOOOO gutless, I mean pathetic. Trouble is where I had to keep my RX7 at my parents house and the 10mpg I just didn't use that either so I figured, get rid of both and have a zed for my shortish daily commute.

  4. Heya Martin,

No worries I was pretty sure the FD had sold when you made the offer anyway, just wanted to be sure. It's gone now though.

I cant remember name of the brokers for the trade policy but we have always got a great deal from them, no one has ever been able to match it. I'll try to remember to ask when I ring the garage next.

I'll have to get some of those spacers off you at some point, when I work out what size I need for my Rays to clear the arches fully.

  5. Seriously don't do it:

Even disabled air-bags can potentially go off in a crash, it's just not worth the risk IMHO

the link refers to an article from 13 years ago about a woman who did not secure a child seat to the seat in anyway - hardly reflective of this situation.

Personally if I had a child, which I don't, then I doubt I'd risk it. But on the other hand the recaro child seat does look B)

Jesus thats nasty! Thats put me right off! I would think a car seat would provide a fair bit of protection from an air bag though.

  6. Hi im still unsureas to what to do on this, can I place my 18 month old niece in my 350z roadster yet with a car seat?

If she is 18 months old she has a forward facing seat right? There are no problems putting a forward facing seat in the front airbag or not, its rear facing seats (very small babies) that you cannot put up front without disabling airbags.

If an airbag did go off then naturally there are risks, however with any accident there are dangers unfortunately, best solution is don't crash :D

Personally I wouldn't have an issue putting my 3.5 year old in the front.

    Anthony.

  7. I never really got those ARC boxes, they are essentially massive heat sinks. Think about the heat soak, its gonna get in that metal box and the piping and just give you higher intake temps... ..surely? The more plastic/carbon the better really as it doesn't hold the heat like metal does, look at a Gruppe M setup for an optimum, shame its £1000.

Intake temps with the ARC box on my car were lower than they were with a popcharger and standard airbox :)

On a dyno or on the road?

  9. I don't understand all of this, I put my fiance on my policy the day I bought my zed and she has only ever owned an old Ford Escort, an old Rover 214 and a current 2003 1.2 Renault Clio and never got asked a single question about her car history so how can they possibly know if they don't have performance car experience?

It does seem a little 'speshol' I emailed Tim but I am yet to hear back form him. Hopefully I hear back before I need to insure the car.
