  1. Is it just me or does it feel like you're driving in a field in some off road vehicle?

the roads are pants and getting worse...

    Where are you based mate?

Im in london and the roads couldnt be worse.... potholes everywhere... crappy repairs that break up and create larger potholes once it gets cold... I find it hard to get a decent road where there are no flaws in the work done... it may have something to do with the 10k a day damages if the roadworks company are late on completion! Saying that i quite like the firm ride of the Z, not too hard but feels as if your in a sports car, i quite enjoy hard suspension, but not like the GTR, god that is awful to drive on bad roads... 20" wheels with runflats and extreme suspension = :bounce::bounce:

  2. Its more acurately romanised as 'Wing Tsun'. Martial arts types can get a little funny when you can't even spell the name of the art you're studying.:lol:

FYI You'll find you need to train / practice 4-5 times a week to develop anything thats slightly usable (i.e in a fight). When somone throws a punch at you, you need to be 'unconscious competant' or you (like me now) end up flinching like a spaz or throwing windmill punches.

    Link explains all

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_stages_of_competence

    Enjoy grasshopper! :)

Thanks mate, i know that you have to practise frequently i have a thai friend who i train with in the gym and practise what we learnt at the wing tsun lessons :teeth:

i also have heard of ip man and "unconscious competence" .... but i think that will take years to master! So better get started!

Also i did know you can spell it "tsun" but wasnt sure which to use, now i know

  3. my mate has being doing this for past 10 years and goes abroad to train every year.

It's pretty funny and elegant to watch, best game is to play 'try hit me' when we go out - it's literally impossible to hit the guy and like swinging at a mosquito!

That's when you learn Muay Thai so that when he block's or palms, you break his arm and ribs and send him across the room :)

I dont believe one style is better than the other, but a mixture of martial arts should be used to improve the weaknesses in the techniques used... wing chun is very good with the hands but i think thai boxing is good with the legs, i think it also depends on the level of each competitor.

  4. Why don't these people spend their free time finding solutions to their problems, rather than fighting them?

    :fishslap::hypocrite:

Its not for attacking or violence, it is for self defence, fitness and wellbeing, wing chun is a way of life not a form of aggression, somtimes you are forced to protect yourself in certain situations.

  5. On my way home last week i saw martial arts training banner for "wing chun"..... (thats the one bruce lee mainly used)

I have been looking in to it for a while now and ive always wanted to do martial arts!

I wasnt sure what to expect when i arrived at the place felt a little out of place and the people have some talent there, so fast its unbelievable, looks like this is going to take me years of practise before i could ever actually use it!

There are some vids on youtube from master wong wing chun who seems very good, based in ipswitch, if you look at his lessons he is very good.

Those who are interested check it out!

    http://masterwong.tv/

There are lots of different wing chun schools around the UK and now ive done a bit im really addicted :teeth:

Dont laugh at his accent hes good...

    watch at 4.27...

Well anyway let me know if any of you are interested or already wing chun masters

  6. These things happen... but don't worry too much, sell those rims online or somthing and buy a decent set + tyres instead of buying tyres now and then selling off those rims to lose money then buy new rims?

Would be good to sell them Josh... but I don;t have the cash to buy new/seconds hand ones at the moment AND put good rubber on.

I am sure that if I put £400's worth of tires on the back wheels they will be fine till next year when I will be able to afford something.

Plus, I will then I will be able to keep these ones as well and use them for winter and/or track days :)

Sounds good mate, or you can give them to me for drifting :teeth:

  7.

make sure they match up with the original rolling radius and i think you will be fine + vreds are good tyres... avons are shocking on the rear, i still have 2 in my shed at home - virtually new...

    Better than nothing I suppose.

But still pretty  that the car has pants alloys on it.

You could argue they look good... (Not exactly my taste, the colour looks good, but they are a little "bling" for me)

But they are too damn thin! :bangin:

  8. it seems very common these days of used zeds appearing with ill fitting alloys. It seems the reason for this is the alloy wheel distributors having very little clue of what actually fits the zed. That combined with places like kwikshit not understanding the tyre sizing.

the root cause of it all though is cheap skate owners with no idea what they are doing. gives someone like you something to sort out and make your own though :teeth::teeth:

Yeah... Great thing for me to "sort" ... by spending a load of money :(

Don't have the cash for new alloys at the mo.

But I presume the best/cheapest/safest thing to do in the sort term is to stick some vredestein ultrac sessanta that FIT on the back wheels.

That was I can save up and buy some wheels and tyres that FIT soon. but still be safe(ish) ... yeah?

  9. Given they ordered the wrong part 3 times im guessing they don't know either :)

I can only presume that he wants to replace the entire rubber trim going up the drivers door which seems a little excessive. I remember him saying when i first took the car in that if that is the case then the entire trim along the front windowscreen to the passenger side also has to be replaced. Knowing my luck that could create far more problems than it solves.

Tempted to take it back to the original dealers and say fix it or its coming back your way. From initial investigations it seems they are happy to do this and wanted to, its just its soooo far away. Quick solution with the local dealer seems to have resulted in me shooting myself in the foot.

Still can't work out where the water is actually getting in beneath the rubber, may have to experiment tonight. Will post pics if i get any results.

Go to a nissan high performance dealership, they handle things better with the performance Nissans, hmm dont think there are many about though!

  10. found this on another forum and describes it well for me

Here's why: pick up a 10-pound weight. Easy, right? Now put that 10-pound weight at the end of a foot-long stick. Now try to lift it, keeping the stick horizontal. Huge extra load on your wrist, see? Your wrist is the wheel bearings and ball joints.

  11. if you are going with spacers, definitely get extended struts just to stay safe, running spacers minimizes the struts threads that you bolt the wheels lugs on, which causes stress on them and they might fail and make the wheels fall off the car .... although dont get scared this is unlikely as you have small spacers...

In my opinion if your going for new wheels, get some that have the proper offset I suggest staying on the safe side and getting wheels with proper offset in the first place!

People will thing im going over the top, and they are probably right

  12. I'm more than happy to name and shame:

    Sturgess (Leicester)

I looked around the car prior to purchase and the sales lady said "oh yes the wheels are NEW". I said how come they are all "NEW". She said "As the guy who owns it works in the service area - he managed to get new wheels through the Warranty".

This was a bonus - brand new wheels.

Six months down the line of owning my car I noticed the alloys were - shall we say peeling!

I phoned Sturgess to find out if I can obtain replacements under my extended warranty.

Sturgess "Yes we can replace the wheels, although what sort of issues are occuring"

    Me "The wheels are peeling"!

Sturgess "Hmmmm let me check to see what we can do - please hold"

Sturgess "Okay we can't replace the wheels"

Me "Why not it's within the warranty"

Sturgess "I'm afraid not - it turns out the wheels weren't knew they were otherwise reconditioned"

Me "So when you sold me the car you told me the wheels were "NEW" and they clearly are reconditioned"

Sturgess "Yeah sorry about that - I can put you in touch with the company who reconditioned the wheels"

Me "No you ring them - their work undertaken is shabby"

Sturgess "Sorry no we can't ring them - would you like the number"

Me "May as well - thanks for being unhelpful"

    Sturgess "No problem" :scare:

    :rant::rant::rant:

Let's just say I was not pleased. The wheels since purchase now 1 year old look terrible - which I am now in the process of having reconditioned myself.

Furthermore Sturgess sent me a letter recently asking if I'd like to have my MOT done at their dealership - no blinking way are they getting near my car!

I recall upon leaving their garage that I'd leave the car standard - she replied that would be nice as the previous owner would hate for his EX car to be modified. I'm so tempted to go down there and do a nice little burnout in their carpark displaying all the modifications!:lol::lol:

That would **** me off... just mention trading standards to them

  13. I am getting REALLY confused now

Gonna break it down for myself, see if I have everything right.

99% sure I have spacers on all ready.

    Do I need thicker ones?

95% sure I can leave my front tires as they are.

90% sure I should change my rear tires to Vredestein ULTRAC SESSANTA'S, to match the fronts.

But what SIZE do I need for the back?

NOT the same as the front.... ?

I am new to this... someone break it down into proper dumb-ass terms for me? :headhurt:

The Z has a set rolling radius... your limited slip differential wont be affected by this so having larger wheels is OK in that respect...

As for your traction control it works off your rolling radius.... if you look on your drivers side door shut you will see the stock sizes for the Z which I believe are

225/45/18 for the front and the rear and 245/45/18... i think.

Now if you work off that using the tyre rolling radius calculator I posted earlier using the sizes of your wheels it should work out how big a difference there is in the rolling radius which will help you find what tyre size you need...

    http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator.htm

you said your tyre sizes are:

    225/40/19 front

255/40/19 rear - is that the correct size? it looked like it from the picture

As for spacers mate i dont like them, they do look nice but in my opinion they don't do your car any good mehcanically
