  1. Got my car back on the 1st of april from Abbey,

the drive home was wonderful, the car felt much more spirited and smoother to drive, felt the power gains definitely in the lower gears! Id like to thank scott for dealing with everything i requested so smoothly and mark for the remap and all the team at abbey for a great job done! Id highly reccommend them to anybody thinking of a remap :#1:

Overall im very pleased with the remap but im still a little confused on the dyno sheets and would like some break down or explanation if possible! Im not sure how great my gains were as i don't really have much to compare to and didn't get much of a chance to speak with mark, so im just wondering what he thinks? Also if possible could mark or scott send me a digital copy of the dyno sheets i forgot to ask when i was down :bangin:

The new brake setup not only looks great but feels it too, on the way home the pads got more and more bed in and felt better with every stop! B)

So before the remap i got mrev2 and plenum spacer fitted in addition to an HKS air filter, HKS iridium spark plugs, Performance friction discs front, DBA rear discs, Ferodo ds2500 all around the car, goodridge lines, rbf660 fluid, rear powergrid drop links and also an alignment done.

I think abbey may have even tightened up the handbrake for me aswell as it feels much better, infact the car feels much better after all the work done, doesn't feel like the same car! Even the handling feels better! maybe its from jumping back in after having the micra courtesy car which was a great little run around and surprisingly pleasant to drive although it may have been a little low on power :yahoo:

Another question ive been meaning to ask is what engine oil should i have in the car now? Its only got the stock semi synthetic 10w 40 shell oil that nissan put in after a recent service! I really should have got an oil change while it in with you guys thinking about it :bangin:

So for now ive taken pictures of the dyno sheets but itd be great if abbey could upload some :snack:

  2. sad news mate, i know how you feel, im getting a bike for my regular commuting instead of selling up its a shame you had to sell, i hope you directed the new owner here

Best of luck with your next car and sale of items.

  3. I was using Wonder Wheels as well, but it just wouldn't take off the caked on dust. I'm also on the Ferodo's now also. Nice, not quite as good as the PF on oem disks. Although the savour of hardly any dust is amazing. Oh and no squeal either!!!

Oh I remember those PF days so well.....

Have you tryed using your kitchen sponge/scourer thingy... its a last resort and i cant believe thats what i had to use to get rid of the brake dust

  4. Are you not having pads at the same time???

I ditched my PF pads after they ate my OEM disks and deposited 400 tonnes of brake dust on my alloys, which in fact was embeded into the alloys

I was going to go for the PF disks, but they are a fair few £££££!!

No way would i ever go with PF pads again mate, and after spending 5-6 hours on cleaning the wheels the dust actually came off mate!

i had to use the harshest stuff on the market though and that is wonder wheels! Going for ferodos all around this time, i will not make the same mistake again twice!

  5. It all good! :yahoo:

I bet you can't wait to get her back.

Abbey are going to get it all done in one day, 8am fit all the above, finish mid day. Dyno at mid day. Car back at closing time or before

  6. So i recieved my order from ZMANALEX yesterday... thanks Alex!

    Hmm pretty hefty boxes :teeth:

    img1028rzz.jpg

So This is whats inside and is just a part of my upgrade come tomorrow!

    img1031kl.jpg

mmm PF discs (i wish they done rears aswell  )

    img1033qn.jpg

    All the rest:

    img1036nz.jpg

So my plans are to take the Z to abbey tomorrow as shes booked in for a remap, fitting all the above + plenum spacer from abbey!

Looking foward to my new setup :yahoo:

Also wondering how much power ive lost and how much im going to gain, cant wait :yahoo:

  7. It doesnt matter how tough anybody is the best option is to avoid conflict apologize even if not nessecary just to avoid a confloct and report to police. Doesnt matter how big or strong you are, these days there are some mental people about and will do irrational things. Not only that but i always say there is always sombody bigger or stronger than you. Acting tough gets you in to trouble, im 21 work out 5 days a eeek could easily be stronger than most but hey i dont care looking like a sissy end of the day use your head and stay out of trouble is my motto.

    Besides i believe in karma

Its a shame so many young people act like that now days, gives the elder people a bad view of all young people and thus they look down on us in our early 20's or perhaps younger!

  8. If its performance you have in mind get an mrev2 in addition to the plenum spacer!

Also you cant beat a panel filter for performance other inductions kits lose bhp and are purely for sound!

If your going yo get more horses id extend your budget to include better discs and pads, no way you want all that power and no way to stop!

Plus a remap is a must

  9. Please buy some axle stands, they only cost a few pennies  Using a scissor jack to support a car while under it is really dangerous.

I'd let them soak with penetrating oil or some such as suggested. If you round them off then its a long slog to remove them or you're paying someone. Be sure you have your socket all the way on so there is less chance of rounding and use a nice length breaker bar so you don't trash a ratchet :)

    Top man

Will do mate, dont suppose you have any pictures so i have no trouble identifiying them

  10. Id avoid LPG, will take some life out of the car also your buying a sports car why LPG it? To be honest im in town and all i ever get is about 16-20mpg at best, the Z engine is efficient really for its size when on a run but also drinks when your putting your foot down, your bound to put your foot down imo.

Since you have a TDI golf use that in the week and Z on weekends?

  11. thanks guys, perhaps if i do this i can take a few pics and post up a guide for future?

Im going to do the rears husky as those are the ones causing the noises (using powergrid to replace OEM - Thanks to Zmanalex)

How high do i need to jack the car up? i only have a standard jack that the car comes with

anything else apart from undo, take off, redo new ones?

  12. Depends what your looking for, if you want to go all out and get the nuts, id suggest the INE-S900R alpine headunit ... you can get add on freeview tv on it rear camera on it... also it has a split screen so you can have two things running i.e sat nav and rear camera or anything of your selection maybe even a video from your ipod, usb, memory card whatever...

BUT that thing is pricey! Its about 1.5k to get the whole lot new installed! Although if you look hard a bargain can be found online :)

a guy was willing to sell me his 1 week old unit for 600, but at the end of the day i thought it was a bit of a waste for my application, im pretty happy with the stock headunit believe it or not, plus ive decided i dont need twatnav in the middle of the car to distract me.

  13. thanks for replies so far. I'm pretty hopeless with electrics. I was wondering how easy it would be to remove the wires. Can't get pics because it is at a dealers.

If your buying off a dealer mate youll want to make sure they take it out not you, make it one of the conditions of you buying the car, dealers usually dont budge much on price but are willing to do things like that...

Also a mistake i made was letting the dealer i bought off buy different brand rear tyres to the front... DO NOT go down this route as it really messes with the handling, stick to same brand tyres on all corners of the car.

so another thing would be to check the tyres have some good tread, any other wear and tear stuff you might try haggle to get replaced such as brake pads etc.

Good luck with your purchase, you wont be dissapointed by the Z.

  14. Even the branded brembos drilled ive heard bad things about im

Not going to name drop but its from somebody in the know.

I stick by my sttement that drilled discs are more susceptible to cracking!

Many higher performance brakes have holes drilled through them. This is known as cross-drilling and was originally done in the 1960s on racing cars. For heat dissipation purposes, cross drilling is still used on some braking components, but is not favored for racing or other hard use as the holes are a source of stress cracks under severe conditions.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disc_brake

  15. Im not 100% on ferrari or lambo sarnie but all im saying is drilled discs are more susceptible to cracking even the good brands, probably less so than normal though!

If i could find some drilled discs for the Z with good ratings id go for them! How were your drilled brembos on the Z by the way sarnie?

Ive settled for PF dimpled up front and DBA on rears, goodridge lines, ferodo pads and to top it rbf 660 fluid combined with veredestien's ... Cant wait for them to be fitted thursday!

  16. A 125 can reach up to like 80-90 downhill, why the heck would i need to go any faster than that! as i said im a londoner... and a 400 or 600 is way too powerfull for what i need! Plus its more tempting to go fast which = more danger!

The 125's dont buzz that bad! the 50cc are the worst!
