My toupence worth if you want sexy rotors that won't give you the grief of cheaper drilled discs -
Performance friction (avail from Alex) -
Floating discs for the win.
I want!
What do you have on rears?
PF dont do these rotors on rears do they?
-
So i need to get some new brake discs and after considering the drilled brembo upgrades ive been advised by more than one to stay away as the drilled discs crack easily, which sucks because i love the look of the drilled discs!
Everybody seems to reccommend the slotted dba discs for the Z.
Are there no other discs that have a nice look such as dimples and slots? kind of like these dba discs:
Id really like some discs which offer both performance and those kind of looks
I don't quite understand why people say avoid drilled discs as i see so many older porches and other performance cars with drilled discs which are fine?
I would of thought for road use its fine? Also if they are casted like that and not just drilled from a reputable manufacturer they will be fine? But i must be missing somthing as the general concencus seems to be otherwise.
If anybody has run some on thier z id love to know how they run and your experience of them! I mean any make of drilled or slotted not just the dba or brembo sports.
Thanks

That's not a million miles off what mine were.... you might want a chat with

Let me know how you get on with those discs when you get them on!
I think im going for these:

I completely agree, thats why im getting the lines, fluid and pads done plus i just got two new rears... its just a cost i could do without at the moment... ive already spent well over 2k on the car this month
I hear that.
Bought some standard alloys... but now I can't afford to put tires on them or have them refurb'd
I think if i do upgrade it will be the brembo drilled discs... at this rate ill need to sell one of my kidneys.
-
My rears had a lip on the disc, only 3-4mm ... and the rear pads needed changing.
I am ALWAYS preaching about how you can't skimp of brakes or tires...
So, putting my money where my mouth it, I ordered some DBA 4000's and DS2500 ALL ROUND from ZManAlex yesterday, hoping they will be here today so I can fit them
Again... only TWO things you should NOT skimp on... Brakes and Tires. Only thing that stop you.
Just my tupenth....

Hmm so a tricky one it is then... im not sure if i should replace my discs, they aren't exactly cheap!
-
Hard to tell, how big is the lip on the edge?
No more than 2mm

Hey guys my cars done just over 26k miles and since the cars going in to get HKS lines fitted plus ferodo pads and 660 fluid plus a remap at abbey, do you reckon the discs are ok and how much life is left in them? I took a quick vid to show you all. Thoughts? Thanks.

Because if the car park is that empty, then why on earth would you need to take up two spaces? Just take one and park well away from everyone else, and if someone does park next to you then suck it up, they probably didn't park right next to you just to dent your car. Anything else is selfish. Do you sit in the middle lane on the motorway too? After all, there's loads of space in the other two lanes and nobody's getting hurt...
My Dad manages to park his Hummer H2 within one car parking bay, and that's somewhat wider than the Zed.
What a ridiculous comparison? Parking it far away with two spaces will not affect you or anybody else for that matter. That way i have no need to "suck it up".... Yeah im being a bit selfish but i don't really care (i know for a fact it doesn't affect anybody or interrupt them going about their weekly shop) unfortunately not everybody is considerate enough to take care about my car so why risk it? This isn't a perfect world. And being all up tight and getting pi**ed when you see a car taking up two spaces when its not affecting you is imho ridiculous, I wouldn't do it when the car park is full id just find somewhere else.
-
Anyone who takes up two spaces in a car park deserves to get their car knocked. It's rude and selfish and completely pointless, the Zed isn't that bloody wide for god's sake!
Parking at the other end of the car park is common sense though, I tend to do that even when in the work's truck.
Whats wrong with taking two spaces when there are 1000 other spaces around you? I dont do it unless the car park is empty, ive parked well away before and then some fool comes and parks right next to my car, this way i avoid it, nobody gets hurt

The drivers door on my Z has an ever so slight kink or wave in it, i mean you really have to look down the door for a good few minutes before you can spot it and i want to get rid of it so thats why i need a dentman, although im not sure if they would actually be able to fix such a small dent, hopefully.
If anybody has any reccommendations thatd be great!
Also regarding the detailing, i want my Z detailed inside out and the engine bay and need a decent guy to come do it! Im also looking to get a fair price!
So if anybody knows of these services and have had thier Z done in London please let me know!
In addition to this my dad's GTR has been keyed by the looks but hopefully the scratches could reduce with some detailing, he gets depressed and pi**ed of every time he looks at it now, so hes asked me to find somebody good.
Pics to follow of the GTR and my Z to show the damage in question when its daytime!
Thanks

If I take the Zed to supermarket I just take up two spaces
cheers Paul
+1
That is the only way i will park in a supermarket, and to make sure i take up two away from everybody anyway. So far never had a ding in my doors
In the multi-storeys i usually go up to highest level which is deserted and park in a corner so close i have to climb to passenger side to get out, and that is the worst risk ill take when parking the z!
Its weird that they parked next to you though i think they parked by your car as they thought itd be safe next to a nice car, i think thats their logic?

Plugs are 5 years or 54,000 miles, whichever comes first. Your car is 06 so that means the plugs are due. A good garage might well work it out but as it is a separate operation, to be on the safe side it would be best to specifically ask for them to be included IMHO.
394 to do the plugs aswell from nissan
crazy prices. I think ill go to abbey to get the plugs done!
-
So do i need spark plugs doing? Will they be covered by the p3?
-
Never park your car next to another car its simples as that, i allow 15 mins on each end of my journey to find a decent space to park and if desperate will take a fine on the chin for parking in two bays - cheaper than getting the dent man out.... + hassle.
Hope you get this sorted i know how it feels!
-
Thanks introspect, now youve got me thinking on what fluids i want in there
They dont change spark plugs on a P3 do they and its not much difference between a P2 but hey i need that stamp in my book.
Anybody got any suggestions on what my car could do with?
Thanks.
I got similar quotes as you I'm in London also, one was even £412 without plugs call Abbey they gave me a much cheaper quote and included a brake fluid change in the service your plugs don't need changing yet 5 years or 60,000 miles I believe.
As my car is an 06 it has been 5 years, the plugs are due a change are they not?

Thanks on all the replys guys, im probably going to stick with nissan, even though i know abbey are going to be better, i think when i come to sell on it may make things easier, everybody loves a dealer stamped service book.
Think I will also go for a brake fluid change with Nissan aswell. Any suggestions on what oil to put in (both engine and brakes).
Also im going to ask them to check over the car as ive been hearing some clicks every in reverse. Also high consumption of oil ( common problem ) I only just noticed today that my oil was low again after only topping up a few thousand miles ago!

WOW thats hard to do, shocking! I only hope they didn't use air gun on your wheel nuts.

I know this has been asked like a gazillion times but ive looked around the forum and seen the varous guides here on when the car needs servicing but here is my problem.
The car is an 06, had a P1 in 07 and then a P1 before i bought it in 2010, its been 8 months since the last P1 and it has 25k miles on it, and ive done around 10k miles so i know the cars overdue a service, and in my eyes it needs a p3, so ive booked a p3 at hanwell london, they are asking for 399, remember it is london and labour prices probably are higher than normal.
My next question is, what should i get in addition, its overdue a brake fluid change aswell, should i bother asking nissan to do this with stock brake fluid or get somthing better and change it myself or when i sell on will people like to know the brake fluid has been changed by nissan, whats your thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance.

Seems to be sorted, i did it again, dont know what that was about
Thanks all above ^

So becuase of the fuel costs and money im spending on the car using
It everyday has taken its toll on my bank balance an as a result im resorting to getting a 125cc to ride to work in the week, fast in traffic and economical an i must say in a way im glad because bikes are quite fun!
Just did my cbt and theory and direct access course is booked in! Shouldnt take long!
Reason im getting a 125 is im in london dont need power and want to be economical!
Also i dont want to get somthing like an r1 and get carried away! Because i know i will!
So what do you think?
Honda cbr125 doesnt look bad does it
