  1. Well - it took a long time (house buying got in the way!), but welcome to my new toy!!! Had it a couple of weeks no and despite a couple of niggles to sort - I am over the moon with it! It got a clean today - but owing to an Amazon delivery opportunity - the clay, polish and wax will have to wait until next week.
  2. That or he services the dark recesses of her foliage that most others would not set foot in....she is 86 though, so it would be more of a Dakar Rally than a Top Gear Rainforest challenge
  3. I think that you are right about the up-bringing being key here but I also think that allot of people just don't have the forthought that I, or obviously, you would extend. My neighbour has a gardener come every two weeks - her garden looks stunning. But her wonderful gardener insists on using a leaf blower to send all her grass cuttings straight over my front door and door step - so it ends up through my house. I also imagine that he will blow a fair chunk of cr@p at the zed now it has arrived. When I mentioned it to her she said that she couldn't mention it to the gardener as she didn't want him to take her off of his job sheet Either way, if you are on good terms with your neighbour I would go and clear up the misunderstanding about you expecting him to clean your car a) to clear any forming bad joo joo and so he doesn't take it upon himself to even try and disturb your delicate balance of wax and love...then it's time for the flaming brown paper bag trick!
  4. Afternoon all, Just a quick question - I am looking at replenishing the cleaning box and upgrading a little while I am at it. It has come to chosing a wax and I am looking at DJ supernatural or the DJ Blue Velvet (Azure car) What is the difference between the hard and the soft wax compunds - do they have very different characteristics in application, preparation or finish? Cheers Chris
  5. I had an AA inspection on a previous car...they were able to tell me that the paint on one wing was quite thick and the seat adjuster didn't work - very thorough I thought... ...what they managed to miss was that the front brakes were shot, one of the rear tyres was illegal and there was an interesting electrical 'opportunity' that put the head lights on every time you pressed the brake pedal As above - a local member is an excellent suggestion and it will only cost you a case of beers or a bottle of something potent
  6. 30. You deliberately take the longer, more scenic, routes home so that you can listen to the exhaust note in different settings
  7. I used powerflex hangers on previous cars and found them to be excellent provided that you get the right shapes. Worth noting that they do a number of different shapes and sizes - so you should be aiming to find something that matches the OE rubbers They take some Heman strength and mutual lubrication to fit on some applications - so eat your Weetabix and lube up on fitting day
  8. Planning a trip to Horsham for that - first on the list is to get the bloody ESP and tracion lights off These niggling issues have really tarnished the experience of buying an otherwise very nice car
  9. Cheers Alex, I have the code reader and it works for CEL lights and a number of other things. What it doesn't seem to want to help with is my ESP Off and Slip lights - which I cannot turn off. Assuming it is a wheel sensor at fault (I need to have the wheels off and check), short of something visually obvious, I doubt I could pick which component is at fault. I have checked fluids and wheel sizes. Still to check tyre pressures, wheel sensors and identify why the steering wheel sits at 11 o'clock as opposed to 12...
  10. Having looked into this, there seems to be a couple of options in either Data Scan or Nissan Consult. Is there a preference for either one or a recommendation for where to get them from? I have ODBII capabilities just not the detailed NIssan specific views which would be useful
  11. Like star wars...the saga continues! ECU reset hasn't done it. Can someone point me in the direction what the wheel sensors look like...I'm pretty sure I can see them on the rears, going to the bottom of the hub, just want to be sure before I unbolt them to check. Secondly, does anyone local to en6 have a reader that will diagnose which sensor is at fault (if it is a sensor) my odb2 reader didn't flash up anything other than the o2 sensor code Thanks in advance!
  12. It's like the human centipede - you wish you could un-see it!
  13. Cheers SMD, its had a remap so will just keep an eye for recurrence. More taxing is the esp and slip lights...I can now confirm that they come on after 20mph. Having been out all weekend, iv not yet managed the ecu reset tap dance. Can I assume that if a sensor has gone, only a Nissan diag will tell me which corner? I have access to an obd2 reader but that only showed the o2 code and nothing traction related
  14. I didn't write it down, but looked it up and it was oxygen sensor (2) There was a 1, a 4 and a 7 in it I think...
  15. Will rehearse for the tap dance tomorrow then *stupid question alert* ECU reset doesn't effect a rev up remap does it
  16. Right - first of all, I am well and truely over the moon. I have taken delivery of my new 350Z today (after promising myself one in 2009!) It is a 54 Reg Azure GT formally owned by a forum member and the love affair has started. However after getting it off of the trailer - I seem to have collected a number of warning lights The CEL light was on - I have plugged it into a reader and diagnosed O2 sensor (2) - which I have cleared down and the light has gone off. The car has berks on it, so will give that one the benefit of the doubt before I twist my balloon knot too much. I also have the ESP Off and slip lights on. Now these are more interesting - they are off when the ignition goes on and then at a certain speed - they pop on. I had hoped that these may have been due to the trailering. A friends Cayenne had self leveling suspension that didn't like to be juggled - but then I realised that the BC coilovers aren't that clever! (Doh!). I have had a search about this and can't really find a difinitive answer. The car feels like it is pulling normally - but then I am not familiar enough with it yet to know if it's not to be honest. Tyre sizes are all correct but my OCD means I will check them again in the morning. As there are no codes - if it were wheel sensors I would expect a code to come up - I can only assume that I need to do the reset tap dance for the ECU and cross my fingers?
  17. I am cheap and proficient in the management reach around...
  18. Yes...I have a confession to make. After much searching and a number of reasons for not doing it since 2009...I pleasured myself greatly at the weekend with the help of Clark. Few things to sort out this week - but I am nearly at full term. My bundle of joy should be along next weekend
  19. once he has come off and got it home I would imagine
  20. I am sure the new owner will be along with an intorduction in due course
  21. Just as an informational statement - I didn't get to seeing this but now have no need to as an alternative deal has been struck! If someone had a secondary eye on this one...be my guest
  22. There is a Whisky Exchange just round the corner from my office and I have taken to a bottle per month - similar to a crack addiction - tending to vary between rums and bourbons so I have a few recommendations here - by no means an authority on the subject, but I know what I like! As a recent sample list - the stand outs are; Rums Foursquare Spiced Rum - Extremely tasty, be prepared not to put the cap back on the bottle though Chairmans Reserve - there is also a spiced version which is a bit heavy for everyday, but good for Christmas time Brugal - very drinkable - try this and be prepared to hang up your Havana club Admiral Rodney - Good, worth a try, but move on after Eldorado (12 year old) - possibly the nicest sipping rum I have ever experienced. Very sweet in flavour and just needs a lump or two of ice (as opposed to the 15 yo which I found a bit too sharp). Until I find then next one that is better than this - all rum will be considered fit for cooking with olny Bourbons Elijah Craig 12yo (sp) Very smooth, very easy to make a dent in Blantons Reserve - In the drawer to be opened this evening Evan Williams - absolutely awesome!!! just add ice This month the plan is to try some El Presidente Rum as the spirits cupboard is overflowing with Bourbon - on which note I should head home, put my feet up and make a dent in a 12 year old (Bourbon)
  23. Can I chat with you about the car...I am in the market and may be able to help make that trade in offer more interesting without the grief of removing ALL of the modifications
  24. Oh, thanks so much...they are the only thing that I really don't like... (statement above may not be true)
