  1. The noise of scraping from the brakes is an intentional design to give you warning of brake wear. I have installed EBC Turbo Groove Disks and Ferodo DS2500 pads all round. Now done about 7k miles on them and still going strong (although i dont often drive hard). Not sure why you would need new lines tho'? Got the lot delivered from CS and installed locally, all very reasonably priced.
  2. Righto. that will be the 'me being a bit thick' part of my original question. thanks for answering, i shall sleep again...
  3. Wow, how do you know that - and its not on the list?
  4. Does any-one know which engine i have got? For some reason i Wikipedia'd 350z (bored and drunk) and got a very useful page back - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/350z However i have a 54 plate 350z GT, and as such could have one of two engines: VQ35DE 3.5 L (210 cu in) V6 287 bhp (214 kW) at 6,200 rpm 274 ft·lbf (371 N·m) at 4,800 rpm VQ35DE 3.5 L (210 cu in) V6 300 bhp (220 kW) at 6,400 rpm 260 ft·lbf (350 N·m) at 4,800 rpm How do i find out which one is in my car? Also, am i just being a bit thick? J.
  5. +1 on this. i did the same thing and can say that there is prob no better deal out there at the moment. Even got an extra litre free for topping up!
  6. Stubby aerials snap off VERY EASILY.....
  7. Yep thats the one. must have been the massive wheels that had me thinking it had been dropped and spaced. i take it you lot are not a fan then.... guess i wont be putting those polka dots on my gunmetal GT, you lot would hammer me... Arf.
  8. Must confess the stripes had me scratching my head as to what it was cos it looked like some sort of Ford Motorsport livery. Must say, it didnt look too bad - but i wouldnt do it myself
  9. Middlesbrough, Ormesby Road. Spotted Blue z with white viper stripes. looked very cool, but was on top of me before i figured out it was a 'z' - D'oh. It looked low and wide, couldn't figure out if the stripes were creating some sort of optical illusion, or whether it has been dropped and spacered? I am interested to know if the stripes were painted or vinyl? Jay.
  10. Any tips on making the Z lighter then...
  11. that is pretty good. what happens in respect of water ingress. I presume rain getting into the engine bay through the vents wont cause too much of a problem? I guess you would just need to keep cleaning in the engine area, and protect the electrics? i also notice that has the air intake on the front - same again, what about rain into the air filter? J.
  12. Why not consider a later model 350Z bonnet with the bulge? i did think of that, but to be honest i was looking at potentially smoothing the existing bonnet and then putting a couple of discreet vents in. I thought it might look a bit more unique - dont suppose there are any owners with vented bonnets?
  13. Have you got a pic of your smoothed bumper, am thinking of doing the same. Did they take out the badge and side reflectors, etc? I also want to smooth my bonnet, how much would i need to budget for to smooth out the grooves and respray - its gunmetal?
  14. check out me thread - 'does my Z lie to me......' I reckon i win
  15. Wow - do you have trouble getting out of second gear? tried the same run again today with slightly lower results. So i reckon if you drive them careful they are not too hard on fuel. However i reset the display and had some fun through an A road in Yorkshire and got 22mpg back, which is more in keeping with what i expected. Fun costs money these days at £1.40 a litre
  16. Got my gun metal GT here. its worth taking your time and asking plenty of questions. I did the same as yourself just over a year ago and bagged a fantastic car. Also worth using your membership to help with other purchases - i just joined Opie oils and got a bargain on oil.
  17. although i have had the car for just over a year i have not taken any notice of the mpg display. However, it sounds like you lot think it is fairly accurate - i had heard it was a waste of time looking at it. Will be back to my standard commute this week, which should see a drastic reduction. I will kep my eye on it, but continue to tell the missus its boolocks when showing anything under 38mpg
  18. The read out was as a result of travelling from York to middlesbrough: A64 - cruise control on 70mph A1 - cruise control on 70mph A19 - cruise control on 70mph A174 - cruise control on 70mph then a bit of urban to my house. all in all about an hour behind the wheel. Whats the score with the different speed displays - how can the car tell me 3x different things at the same time?
  19. think i meant Millers XSS 5w30 oil...
  20. Hello all, i recently did an oil change (Millers SSX 5/30w) with UFI filter, and fitted a new Scorpion exhaust (with bumper tuck - looks good). I then filled up with Tesco Momentum, hit the A1, reset the average speed and consumption and switched on the cruise contol. Speed read outs as follows: - Speedo dial 72mph - digital speedo 70mph - average speed 65mph Eh.....? However this was my mpg: 38.1 - is my Z lying to me?
  21. How do they get the extra width on the wheel arches? are they putting on body kit and then filling/smoothing and respraying? i presume they have also got some fairly big wheel spacers and extra wide wheels? how is it done....
  22. exactly like that, but CS does trade direct with Scorpion, so should be a bit more reliable than e-bay. for a bumper tuck you could try this: http://forums.nicoclub.com/350z-diy-bumper-tuck-t415681.html to keep it shieny you could try the attached. Jonathan.
  23. Your mechanics sound a bit dodgy... i have a scorpion on order with CS at the moment - it was due to be delivered this week, but scorpion are running behind on the manufacture side so it will be next week. The scoprion is £374 delivered to my door. Fitting is £45 by my local mechanic. Will also get him to do a bumper tuck at the same time - costing nowt. Jonathan.
