Hi Steve that price sounds pretty good to me if everything is straight, is it a UK car? I wouldn't be concerned with it being '04, pretty bullet proof motors. I've never driven a Megane RS but i do know the Z is very different beasty to most 'hot hatch' type cars, the way it makes power, rear wheel drive, the lovely noises it makes. Id be very very very surprised if you were anything other than delighted with a Z... For me, every drive is still an event, still makes me grin like a mad thing I love my Z
  3. Thanks Captain, and the others...very inspiring and i cant wait to get there! Can you suggest any other car for rental thats more suitable then? I want something a bit iconic/cool/yankie/fun....
  4. Around May 2012 Kat and I and 2 other chicks are gonna do a road trip from San Francisco to Dallas (Kats brother lives in Waco). We were hoping to do it in a rented Mustang convertable, but we are wondering if the boot will hold 4 soft bags (with enough clothes etc in each for 1 week, we can wash it all at Kats brothers for the next week). Ive seen a short youtube vid about 'trunk' capacity but they use 2 hard cases so its hard to tell. Maybe one of you guys has been up close to one of these cars and can give an informed opinion? Cheers, Simon.
  5. I can fully understand all the points above regarding the value and running costs/repair costs of these cars, and when you think about it, the imposed restrictions are fair, but......why not be a little more honest with potential punters? I dont think they mention anywhere how slow you are expected to drive, after all people pay good money for these things to do something they can't do in there own cars, otherwise why would you bother? Why not sell it purely as a 'cruise in a supercar' and for those wishing to really nail a fast car on the track they could have race prepped Imprezas or some such thing (much less than £10k value for a very quick one). At least we wouldnt feel massive disappointment at the end of the day, feeling ripped off. Instead we would have got just what we ordered and would be keen to return for the other 'experiance' too rather than belly aching on public forums about these companies. Sorry for the
  6. This is actually not that different from virtually every trip in the Z when im driving and Kat is the passanger Im like that when she drives, but on the inside, i manfully keep it bottled up
  7. Hi Theo and welcome, i'm from Fareham and i'm often around Winchester. I'm in a orange Z too!! Simon.
  8. Well both parents went and looked at it yesterday (without me!), it was immaculate apparently, the guy accepted an offer so they put a deposit down . They cant pick it up until the guy has transfered his private plate (it reads 'FASTER') hopefully i will have a spin in it then... Thanks for the help.
  9. I kinda fancy one of these 'experiances' but all i ever hear is that they are over in a flash and they restrict revs etc Has anyone come across a company that lets you have a 'proper' drive in a supercar?
  10. Hi Phil and welcome, i've not seen a midnight blue in the flesh so i'll be looking out for you
  11. Thanks for the comments guys, i'm probably going to take my mum to have a look tomorrow, so i will let you know what happens

  13. Wow Rog, were you actually driving yours then? I guess the bike is tucked up in the garage now the weathers gone t#ts up How the devil are you?
  14. This is like my one except a coupe therefore scarily expensive!!
  15. Went on Sunday, heres some of the pics... Guess what it is? Ill do some more in a bit...
  16. Don't like to argue but i remember the 80's classic car scene as a time of hugely inflated prices, cars bought and sold for investment purposes more than a love of the things, and therefore a massive increase in cars being 'restored to original'. I use the inverted commas because many were restored with a shockingly bad level of skill just to make a quick buck as prices were rising every day.
  17. Welcome along fella, shame its just in time for the dodgy weather! Have fun...
  18. My missus wouldnt even know if the car was dirty or not! She just doesn't see that sort of thing...........Gulp! she just read this as i was typing she says she its man work, cleaning cars. How sexist!!
  19. Same as my one Mick! but mines gunmetal (i.e. faster )
  20. Just found its 'good looking' cousin... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-XK150- ... 2315d66e67
  21. A thing of beauty, i'm sure you will all agree http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAGUAR-MK-2-3 ... 2315d955b1
  22. Im pretty sure when i looked at the figures for my 1999 stock R1 they were supposed to be able to do 186mph! We weren't at full speed and there were 2 of us on the bike. 174 mph was quick and dangerous enough seeing as we were going over a few humps in the road making the bike jump a bit, I was literally sh*tting myself! My mate (the owner) claims it goes past the 200 mark. That makes sense seeing as it had a few modifications carried out on it. I think it would take A LOT of modifications to get a road R1 over 200mph, from what ive seen 190 is fairly achievable, but over 200 needs serious h.p. It's game of diminishing returns, as the speed rises, air resistance gets stronger and stronger (bikes are crap at aerodynamics) so you need more and more power for each step up in speed. Also, im talking about actual speed, as a lot of bikes clocks are miles out.
  23. Lifelong biker here mate, with an R1 still love bikes as much as i did when i was 16...all those years ago lol! Do yourself a favour and do a track day with some instuction as soon as you can, you will nerver learn so much about grip/traction; braking; and getting it reet over on its ear on the road. No car will ever give you the same adreniline spike as quick bike, and when you think you can get a seriously quick bike for a couple of grand....its all good Have fun mate...
  24. Id love to bag mine! so it can look standard...or slammed to the deck!
