  1. I always used to acknowledge other zeds on the road, but I reckon I got maybe 20% returned. I got disheartened so now I hardly ever do it
  2. Seems to be a split opinion then, I much prefer the look of the Rays to those linked.
  3. Welcome to the world of shed motoring! Mine is a 1.2 Clio, it really couldn't be much further at the other end of the scale than the 350! Dull as hell to drive, but it's cheap
  4. While I like the idea of never having to bother with glasses or contacts again, I really just can't stand the idea of sitting in a chair and watching while someone uses a knife to cut and peel back part of the surface of the eye and then shines a laser straight in it! I'm not normally particularly squeamish, but just the thought of it makes me go all funny!
  5. After having my current glasses for probably 6/7 years at least and having partially broken them when snowboarding (though not visibly, they still look ok!) I figured it might be time to shell out on a new pair! Was kinda banking on £200-250 though, anymore than that and I reckon I can squeeze a few more years out of these current ones
  6. If approaching a roundabout where you wish to turn left, but there is a long queue of traffic in the left lane and an empty right lane, it's fine to use the right hand lane to drive all the way round the roundabout and then take the left turn. Ignore the fact that by doing this you are part of the reason why the left hand lane is getting so long in the first place.
  7. Thanks for the replies folks, some interesting suggestions there that i'd not really considered, worth some more investigation :-) With regards the beemers, for those that have them, are the running costs likely to be significantly different to the z? I'm talking servicing, tyres, brakes, etc basically any wear parts assuming i'd use independent garages for both cars rather than dealers.
  8. Hey folks, I’m hoping someone here can help me out and offer some top advice I’ve owned my Z for a couple of years now and while I’ve loved every minute of it the time may soon be coming to trade it in for something more practical. Realistically I need something with 4 doors and a reasonable sized boot (big enough for suitcases and a pushchair when the time comes!). Something cheaper to run than the Z would also be good, I’ve managed to afford it for the past couple of years but we’re looking to move house (with accompanying larger mortgage!) and have a family soon and so I just don’t think I can afford to spend the sort of money that I have been doing on petrol, servicing, tyres, etc. The problem is that I just don’t think I can go from a 276bhp rwd sports car to a run of the mill 1.6l Ford Focus or such like. I want something that’s still got a decent amount of poke and isn’t going to bore me to tears every time I drive it. I was thinking something like a BMW 3 series as I like the looks and the way they drive, but then I’m not so sure that this would be any cheaper to run and maintain than the Z? Stuff like a Mondeo, Vectra, etc. just don’t inspire me. Budget wise I’m probably looking at £12-14k and ideally I’d want something no more than 4 or 5 years old and less than say 50k on the clock. Anyone got any ideas? Anyone run a 3 series as a second car or car for the other half and able to advise on what it costs compared to the Z?
  9. I don't suppose he'd consider putting it back to stock and selling the nismo kit seperately would he? Would that even work, or would i end up needing to get it professionally resprayed anyway to get the colour match? Surely black is black though.....right? I'll bow to superior knowledge here though, i'm new to this bodykit thing, just looking for a way to get a kit without the expensive spraying involved! :-)
  10. Yeah as mentioned, it might be worth contacting the garage that did the servicing in the first place. When I bought mine the service book was missing, but when I contacted the Nissan garage that carried out the servicing they were happy to send me a new, stamped book free of charge. I'm not sure if all the Nissan garages computer systems are linked, I have a feeling they're not. I know when I did it I had to contact the garage that did the work directly rather than just pop into my local and ask them to look it up. It's worth a try anyway, at least for the years it was under warranty.
  11. I can get the Z in my single garage without any difficulty. There's not a massive amount of room once you're inside, but with some carpet on the walls and parking slightly closer to one side rather than dead central means I can get out fairly comfortably. You might struggle if you were a slightly, err, larger gentleman shall we say!
  12. It may not give the best sound quality or look the best, but for ease and simplicity I just use a tape converter to connect to my mp3 player. You can get them for about £5-10 and they just connect into your tape deck and into the headphone socket of your mp3. I then just leave my player in the cubby hole above the headunit, so all you see is a short section of cable running between the two.
  13. Yep, definitely overpriced. For reference a couple of months ago I bought an 06 plate, GT, with 21k on the clock for £3k less than the one you've posted about!
  14. PM sent about the tonneau and cargo net.
  15. As a reference I bought my 06 plate with 20k on the clock from a dealer (not Nissan) about 3 months ago and paid around £14.5k. Seems like it's maybe a touch overpriced, perhaps the 13.5 like you suggest might be a fair price.
  16. Forgive me if this is a stupid question, I'm a bit new when it comes to Z ownership! If I was to change my wheels (I've currently got the standard 6 spokes) to the Rays would I need the spacers? I just noticed from your photo that you've put the Rays on and gone for spacers, so I'm now wondering if it just looks wrong without them?
  17. Out of interest, how is the vertical cover that fits under the strut brace secured in place, is it just a push fit or does it have any fixings? Just wondering how easy they are to take in/out when you need to, say if I've got a longer item like my snowboard to squeeze in
  18. I noticed you made a point of parking alonside me at the JJB/DW gym, was quite a surprise to see it alongside my own toy when I came out Looked a very tidy example with what looked like the full Nismo bodykit (actually makes me want to get the kit myself, mine looked almost plain and boring alongside it! If only I had the cash!) Seems there's a few Z's that park there though, I've seen at least 2 other black and one silver 350 in the past couple of months there!
