Hi Guys and Gals, After a seriously grumpy Friday morning, when my girlfriend reversed into the rear quarter of my Zed. It hasnt gone down to the plastic on the rear bumper, just lots of that nasty white scratching. The wheel has also ahd a lot paint taken of it.... Does anyone know of a practical repair solution in the Bedfordshire / Hertfordshire area? Thanks Al

windows not dropping on drivers side
greasemonkey1234 replied to greasemonkey1234's topic in 350Z Technical
Thanks for yuour help guys. I will try this weekend after next. Fortunately the window is stuck in the down position after the door unlocked, so the window is sealing against the rubber strip. -
Hi Guys / Gals, I think my drivers side window motor / mechanism is frozen up. It doesn't want to move until the car warms up (about 20mins) and even then it is slow and has a mind of its own if the switch is pressed. Does anyone else have this problem? Cheers, Al

Your Favourite Driving Song.......

An electic range from Dire Straits, Guns n Roses, Metallica, Dead Kennedys, The Jam, Blondie Queen..... -
Yeah I tried the T1-Rs and thought they were too soft and not very responsive. I have the RE050A and they are in a different class to the RE040. Make sure you get the RE050A not just the plain RE050 though. In the summer I run 38 front and 35 rear. Winter, 35 all round just gives a bit more front end grip with the sacrifice of some responsivness.

Brembos cooked after 20 mins on track - help pleas
greasemonkey1234 replied to chris24jt's topic in Brakes
Oulton is awesome, a bit like cadwell with long sweeping curves where you can carry a lot on entry speed if you trn in nice and early. I have not done Croft but I know it has a tight hairpin so that could be a killer, but I would say stay away from the Autodrome its artificially slow and does kill the brakes and not particularly flowing. I don't particularly like it as you can probably tell. I went through a set of 2000 mile OEM brembos here -
Brembos cooked after 20 mins on track - help pleas
greasemonkey1234 replied to chris24jt's topic in Brakes
Ouch!! You will know if you have warped the discs as the brake pedal will vibrate loudly when you apply them. I am surprised you have had such major problems at Cadwell as this is not as demanding on the brakes as say Snetterton or the Hateful Aerodrome. I have braided lines, Motul RBF 660 fluid and DS2500 pads and DBA discs and these make a difference of about 2 laps more before the beiging of fade sets in, So around 4 / 5 laps. Personally, I only limit myself to one warm up, 5 flying and a cool down lapout of sympathy for the car. The cool down is critical to ensuring you don't get excessive heat soak in the car. -
Hi Guys, I am looking for a kick strip on the passenger side as my girlfriend (now more appropraitely called my girlassociate after she shut the door on the seatbelt). Does anyone have a spare one for sale? Many thanks, Al

greasemonkey1234 replied to ewan221's topic in 350Z Technical
Is it a rattle like series of clicks? This is just what I am getting. I think it could be the droplinks -

I have the whitline adjustable drop links. They are the new sealed links but it does sound like you said -
Knocks in the frist suspension
greasemonkey1234 replied to greasemonkey1234's topic in 350Z Technical
Hi Roo, That would make sense. It is definately pop and a click rather than a clunk like a bush. -
Knocks in the frist suspension
greasemonkey1234 replied to greasemonkey1234's topic in 350Z Technical
I replaced the droplinks along with the bushes with whiteline stuff. I guess it could be the droplinks just suprised as its only done about 2k since the links were put on -
Hi guys, Any more thoughts on what it could be, it was ok for 2 months but the knocks have returned. I replaced both banana arms and most front bushes, and still the knocking occurs whilst lock is applied and moving over rough ground at slow speed. Could it have been a faulty banana bar?

Tyre recommendations for wet cold weather
greasemonkey1234 replied to Swiftwizard's topic in 350Z Technical
+5 for the RE050As as I found they had more feel in the wet than the MPS2s. MPS2s are better in the summer than the RE050As. The Toyo T1Rs are not a bad all round tyre but are not in the same performance bracket as the aforementioned, it feels like they have soft tyre walls. Please do not get the RE040s or RE050s as they are ditch finders, the A bit is VERY important. -

Wired back in the xenon HIDs, but...
greasemonkey1234 replied to greasemonkey1234's topic in 350Z Technical
Ah ok so it just could have been the corroded fuses. It was in the fuse box behind the battery. Do you know of any other light related fuses? -
Hi Guys, Right I re-wired in the JDM ballasts and put in EU (road legal) bulbs into the headlights. Now, I did the drivers side first to check that I had wired correctly and JOY I had a good quality light. I then wired up the second, passenger side light and no lights. The main beam works fine, as I understand this is on a different circuit, however, no lights from either now. I thought a 15 amp fuse had blown but no, they all seemed fine. Does anbody know whether the HID's work on a different voltage or need a higher rated fuse? Many thanks Al
