  1. +1!!! You do not have to use the insurer's preferred repairer. They can however require you to provide two quotes and will deny you a courtesy car if you choose your own garage - but I think its worth it to know that the quality of the work is going to be good. Is it Admiral by any chance? Erm, yes - it's Admiral - you don't work for them do you? Thanks for all of the advice, I'm going to go and get some independant prices. If anyone can recommend any other bodyshops in the Farnborough, Aldershot or Guildford area then it would be welcomed.
  2. Hi all, Just been hit up the arse damaging my rear bumper and light clusters. Insurance company want to send me to one of their accredited garages but I'm wondering whether I should push to use someone else. They said that the only difference is that I won't have to pay the excess if I go to theirs but will have to pay and claim back if I go to someone else. So, should I go to the one of the garages from the insurance company, go to a Nissan Stealer or I've used TGM in Fleet before and know that their work is top notch. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Phil
  3. Top Gear is just another entertainment program now, but sometimes they get things right and sometimes - like this week, it's just a poor try and comedy. The Goodies were doing this 20 years ago! Still, the section on the GTR was spot on. And if anyone saw the film they did on Senna last year then that's when they get it so right! I can put up with the 'News' section but the challenge they did this week was boring shitw which could have been shown in 5 mins rather than 30. Glad they don't do this every week!
  4. I've just had my spark plug changed and 4 tyres put on for £90 at TgM sport in Fleet. I did provide the plug (bought from ZMANALAX) and the tyres but still, thought it was a good deal. Tom at TGM have done some work for me on the zed in the past aswell and I can thoroughly recommend them!
  5. Kind of, I work for a company called Surrey Satellite Technology based in Guildford but it's now owned by the EADS group.
  6. I work in the space industry and was lucky enough to go to Russia to watch 5 of our satellites go up.
  7. Hiya, Yep, filled up the fluid yesterday morning and noticed it wasn't working on that side tonight. Will check the tube tomorrow. Checked that it was still connected to the wiper earlier and that seems okay but didn't check the other end - Doh!
  8. Hiya The washer on the passenger side wiper isn't working. Is there pump for each side or do you think it's just blocked? Any help is greatly appreciated.
  9. Hiya, my Bridgestones have got about 5mm on them and are evenly worn. You can have them for £70, and as I said, I'll meet you halfway if you want. Let me know if your interested and I'll PM you my mobile number.
  10. Yep, sure will. Will do it when I get back from work tonight.
  11. Hiya, I've got a couple of Bridgestones available which I kept after the last change. Had too much tread just to throw away so they're in the garage waiting for a track day which never came. I'm in Guildford so would be willing to meet you half way. If youre interested then I'll let you know the tread depth tomorrow once I've got in the garage.
  12. Hope its someone on here as your driver door was wide open and resting against the bushes. Obviously I shut it for you!!
  13. I've got a couple of Bridgestones which I kept after changing all four boots a while back. Tread was too good just to chuck them so I brought them home with me. If you're interested then PM me and I'll let you know the details tomorrow once I've got in the garage and had a look at them.

    COOLING

Hey Tim, has it fixed the problem? How much did it cost out of interest as mine has been suffering in the past. Alex has been a great help when speaking to him, so if you ever get any probs like this in the future then it's worth mailing him.
  15. Checked the fans yesterday and they are both working. Started the car from cold with the aircon off and let the car heat up. After about 30 mins, both fans kicked in at the same time and then stopped together. I think someone said that they should work independantly of each other? Something I did notice was as the car was heating up the coolant level increased in the bottle. It went from a third to full - could this point to air pockets in the coolant system? Any advice would be greatly received.
  16. Hi all, Had my zed for a year now and I'm having some problems with it overheating. It's only done it on 2 or 3 occasions over the year but it's not happened under the same circumstances. When it has happened I've been on the motorway and I haven't been able to check if the fans have been working and I haven't been able to hear them. On the most recent of occasions, I'll be stuck in traffic for about 15-20 mins and the temp will start to creep. No matter what I do it will keep on going up until I can get moving again but as soon as I can get some momentum the temp gauge will drop very rapidly back down to normal. I've had a service recently but the cooling system wasn't drained and refilled. I've had a search on here and the tips I've taken onboard would be to change out the relays and thermostat and drain out the coolant in case it's got a blockage - any other advice? I was also advised at the service (Nissan Slough) that my clutch felt very heavy compared to others and they thought it was on it's way out - a slipping flywheel wouldn't cause it to overheat would it? Any advice would be great, Cheers Phil
  17. Speaking as car DIY novice, I can fully recommend on changing the oil yourself, it's really easy to do. Also, I've just had a P3 service on mine and took it to Nissan in Slough. They did it for £220 including a courtesy car for the day but I did provide the oil. Would really recommend them if your in the area.
  18. Hey Taddy, Have you got any other archery gear for sale? I'm just about to get back into the sport after 10 years out so I'm looking to refresh my kit. Unfortunately I've already got a scope so not interested in this offer. Cheers Phil
  19. Thanks for the quick reply Macca, but this is my question - should it be a P3 because it's been 5 years or a P2 because it's only done 22k?
  20. Hi all, looking for some advice on servicing. Bought my 05 plate zed last year and need to give it some TLC. Although it's an 05 plate it's only done 22k and I'm not sure which service to choose! Service history is; P2 @ 11k in May 06 P1 @ 15k in Nov 07 Oil Change by me @ 18k in Jul 09 I've looked through the servicing topic and I'm confused whether it should be a P2 because of the mileage or a P3 because of the time - any thoughts? I'm also looking for a good place to get it serviced I'm not so bothered about taking it to a Nissan Dealer as long as I can get a decent service elsewhere - it's more important to me to go to someone that can be trusted to do a good job! Any advice for the Guildford / Aldershot area? I know both of them have got Nissan dealers but neither of them got decent write-ups in your reviews. Cheers all, Phil

  22. Hmm, the relationship between Aston Martin and Lola definately seems to be a strained one - no matter how hard you look Aston don't like to admit that Lola have anything to do with the car! And yes, the Drayson LMP1 is a stunner - especially like the Union Jack going down the spine It's a shame it wasn't racing but at least we got to see it in the garage.
  23. Just a quick report and some piccies of my trip to Silverstone on Sunday. I was lucky enough to be invited to this event by Lola who design and build the chassis for the season winning Aston Martin team. On arriving we had to pick up our welcome packs and instead of being directed to the usual public car parks, the marshalls must have taken an interest in the zed and I was directed to the SuperCars Car Park. So along with a plethera of Aston Martins, Lamborghini's and Spykers stood my Zed. We were then shown round the garages; and then went off to watch the race. It lasted nearly 6 hours so there was plenty of time to get loads of photo's. Here are some of my favs and you can go to the album if you want to see the rest. http://s631.photobucket.com/albums/uu32 ... 013_09_09/
