  1. Hmmmmmm well now I've got the mold. The process will be easily repeatable. But I'm sure people will want to see how they turn out first!

  3. Well I do have assistance from one of the best carbon specialists in motorsport. So with a bit of luck they will be ok. Going to make a small lip and then hopefully (with it only being 2 layers) I can flex it just enough to clip around the orignals. The mock up one worked well so here's hoping. If not I'll just trim it back and bond it on the face of them. The badge...... Now that's the hard bit. Revering the mold so the letters NISSAN don't stick out instead of imprinting.... I'm sure my assistant has a clever work around though......
  4. Yes well, i thought, being as its taken an age for M350ZB to reply to my PM about getting the stick on carbon vinyls and the ones for inside the zed side badge, i thought i'd make the b pillars myself. And being as where i work we supply miles and miles of carbon, i would make mould and lay up some proper real carbon pillars (2 /3 layers probably) and affix them. Also watch out, coz my nissan burger badge is going to be done soon also...... ohhhhhhh.
  5. I'm in the process of making this............ Stage 1 complete, get into stage 2 next week!
  6. somebodies had a youtube morning
  7. I know this is supposed to be a serious point made by the OP, but i cant seem to help but laugh like a lil schoolboy everythime i look at his Avatar! thats just the happiest dog i have even seen
  8. Diesel has come on soo much, we have diesel cars whipping the floor with competitors at lemans (well not true diesel i know) and who would say no to one of the new v10 diesel Audi R8 or whatever its going to be..... But come on really, i can't see the phrase "Dieselhead" ever catching on.
  9. The stig is ben collins, we've been told perosnally when he came to our factory, a lot of the mechanics know him.
  10. I want "like a million" of these! Seriously, cant wait till we can place orders and i can finally de-burger the back of the zed for less than 60 bucks!
  11. I can believe that ! Motorsport in genreal is a great way to launder. Before i worked here at Lola, during the late 80s, some guy apparently bought a car form us for like 250k, and then turned up the next days with it in cash!!!
  12. The FIA could pull from a circuit after the years approval is up, meaning that the circuit would loose 80% of it customers, thus making it a very real threat to financial lose to the circuit despite perhaps having the breakaway series income. And they circuits just couldnt afford that. Bernie is stupid, thats the problem, he is going to make it the driver that wins the most races, not have the most points win the championship remember!?! crazy talk !! The whole reason this is even coming about is because bernie and co. fear they have lost the majority of its fan base due to the bigger teams having far superior funds and develping a car thats alot quicker than the others. Thus making the sport not as competitive, with less overtaking and not as exciting (opions only of course) Me, i love the sport the way it is/was. Caps are not needed just people with more balls and money
  13. Completely agree with it being the elite of the racing world, and i know if lola had the money, we wouldnt want a budget cap either !! The circuit problem is that fact that the FIA govern more than just F1, almost all other serious racing series are onboard too, also i believe that its a large part of the saftey aspect, so if a circuit chose to run the breakaway series and FIA then remoived its liscence from that track, no other FIA approved race series would race there, meaning the circuit would badly suffer finacially. Also worth remembering theres alot of back up/following series that travel around with the FIA F1, at a F1 race weekend its not just the big cars booming round, GP2, F3, F3000 all sometimes tour together........ i wonder where they will go.
  14. We did officially withdraw, but that was before this breakaway was official, now, we are in a very nice position, if the FIA ask us to come back as they need teams, we know we are in demand and have some bargaining power
  15. We wouldn't go into the breakaway series because the only reason we tabled a bid was due to the cost-capping, we can afford to spend 300 million a year designing and driving a car, the 40 million cap suited us. and you can be sure they wont have a cap. Well you could get so deep into this it's ridiculous, firstly this breakaway series...... what tv station will show it?!? BBC is tied into FIA Formula 1 for 3 odd years, Sky is in a running contract with A1GP and ITV sure as hell dont have any money to play the ludacrative advertising rights. We were going to get 30million back over 3 years form the beeb tv rights if we went into F1. Also, where are they going to race, All the FIA approved tracks you can bet wont be letting them race there and upset the governing body, so thats alot of top tracks out of the picture... IF it does happen i can see most of teams in the breakaway series that can afford it will more than likely just run 3 cars instead of 2, more tv coverage and advertising money that way also.... BUT someone will backdown, F1 without the big drivers/constructors/teams in not really F1 afterall.
  16. do you think these badges will be thin enough so if i bond them onto some plain carbon kick plates they will not catch or anything?
  17. looks like we might be going into F1 after all ! I can hear the phone ringing now..... "is that the FIA?" Oh btw i work at Lola Cars incase your totally confused by that comment.
  18. Your avatar's amazing Missus says thanks
  19. this thread sucks.......?
  20. I'm all over these if you can keep 'em under 50 quid. 1: Sunset350z 2: AndWood 3. Spr1ngy
  21. Unfortunately not, its just not cost-effective for us to carry on the F1 car, builing a model, wind-tunnel testing, building the test car, track testing and so on with the FIA only saying theres a "chance" for 2011 and the future.
  22. So.... I've been quiet on here for a while, as some of you know a work for Lola Cars and the last 7 weeks have been manic, we a proposed F1 bid, 2 LMP races and of course Lemans, i've worked my balls off. Now unfortunately with 10 companies going on for only 3 avaliable F1 licences chances were always slim, USF1 were always going to get a slot and with Dallara backing another entrant it was in essence 8 companies battling it out for the last spot. It turns out this was given to Manor, an F3 team, Now without getting too political, Nick Wurth, who is an integral part of Manor happens to be the Son-in-Law of Max Moseley........... So to say it may have been an unfair race is plausable. Whats worse than all this is my car has been taking a hammering, long drives every day, out to customers and back, with no cool down time and no warm up time, muddy feet, and no wash for 6 weeks! inside or out. To say it needed some TLC is an understatment. So yesterday evening, now things are starting to calm down at work post-lemans, i was able to wash and clean the car during overcast weather (much better for cleaning a Kuro as hot sun means the black bakes on the water/shampooo before i rinse it off) i gave the car some love. Incidentely, i used a clay bar for the first time also, a liquid version from turtlewax followed up with the high shine wax (freebies from work). I feel so much better about myself now the car is clean lol !! heres a quick pic. Good news also, if one of the 5 FOTA teams that submitted "contitonal entries" into F1 next season decide to pull out, we still might have a chance to get in, and i can fly round the world getting a lovely tan. Heres a quick pic of the car.
  23. this opening ceremony is a bit....................... odd.
  24. United to win. They'll put far too much forward pressure and closing down early on agianst a shaky barca defence missing the speed of dani alves, united will score early, wayne rooney to net it and have a blinder, he's calmed down and matured so much this season and will probably be out on the left wing so i doubt we will see the red mist. ronaldo will play the central role of a 3 with park the workhorse on the right. Barca will DOMINATE possesion but wont create many clear cut chances due to united awesome defence. United to then score on the break (ronaldo) with 5 mins to go after barca have poured forward in the attempt of an equalizer. we all leave the pub happy all this and i dont even support man u lol !!
  25. I went, saw your car on the central exhibition, looked Thanks, was I not hanging around by the car? Unfortunately not! It was on saturday afternoon around 2ish. Wantewd to have a chat, as i saw quite a few idea on your car i'd like to try, being as my day job involves being around 4 ton of carbon fibre all day lol !
