  1. Thanks for the info. At the moment it's flashing and apparently it's intermittent so I'm hoping it's just loose, or perhaps the wire's damaged. Does it normally stay on solid or flash?
  2. Sounds quite tempting! How are you lucky enough to get discount? Do you work there? Only problem being it's in Leicester, not a long way I know but further than Nottingham. How much would it hurt my wallet do you think? I need an MOT too, so might get both done at the same place...
  3. I'm by no means an expert in the differences between the two models but I think if I could afford a newer model (and the tax to go with it!) I'd get one. The engines aren't going to be that different, and with 300ish bhp and a bit less torque you're still getting a fast car. I think the nicer plastics and finishings inside would sway me more than the engine (and I'm a power nut!). Resale-wise newer spec cars will hold their value better. Just my opinion...
  4. Don't I feel stupid - I forgot about the seats having airbags now! I thought you were taking the mick tobegin with, took a second for my brain to catch up. My problem is I'm used to old cars and having a seatbelt is a safety feature in some... Getting used to this technology malarky might take me a while... I'll have a look when I get it home and let you know what's up with it. No need for anything drastic like taking the seat out to get at this connection is there?
  5. Hello. I'm due to take me 350 in for a service in a couple weeks and trying to find somewhere to take it in Notts area. I've looked through the sticky about the Good and Bad garages and Sunwin in Nottingham had quite a bad review. Anyone got anywhere they would recommend? The car's been serviced at Nissan since new but I'm not too fussed about keeping that up now it's five years old. What do you think? I doubt it would affect the price much now. It's due a P1, which is just an oil and filter change which I could do myself but I do want to keep the service history on it, even if it's not Nissan. Cheers.
  6. Hi all. I've paid for an '04 GT and picking it up next week. I got it cheap due to a few things which need doing - service, MOT, scratches on the fronts and rear bumper but most concerning is the fact the airbag light flashes. The guy I bought it off says that he took it to Nissan and they told him that there's a wire underneath the seat that's damaged and causing the problem and that they could disable the light if he wanted. Two things don't sound right - why would a cable for the airbag sensors/lamp run under the seat? And would Nissan actually offer to disable such an important warning lamp? I think not. Does anyone know if there is likely to be a wire somewhere that's damaged or is likely to be something more serious? It doesn't look as though it's been hit anywhere to cause the warning light so perhaps it is just a wiring fault, although there is a scruff on the front bumper. Difficult to diagnose over the internet I suppose! Like I say, I did get a bargain price for it so was willing to take the risk, and just cross my fingers it isn't something too expensive to fix. I would thought at most it would be replacing a sensor somewhere. Any ideas?
  7. Ayu everyone. Hope someone can help me out. I've had a bit of a search in the forum and on the internet but not found what I'm looking for. I'm picking up my 350z GT next week and I know the standard Bose headunit is playing up so thought rather than replce with a standard I'd have a look at fitting something else. My 'problem' is I have a few wants: Must have AUX input (prefereably from the rear so I can wire in an MP3 connection in the storage compartment behind the handbrake. Prefer it to have orange illumination so it fits with th rest of the car Not really after one with a screen, just something ordinary looking! Prefer double DIN but would consider a single size if it looks as though it should be there after it's fitted! Must have CD, other than that not fussed - no need for MP3, DVD, tape or anything else. Something that sounds good and has a decent EQ because I am a bit fussy with my sound systems but don't like it to look like it's from Fast and Furious! Tat's about it! You can probably see why I'm struggling. Not really bought any 'ICE' (or Max Power ) in a few years so kinda out of touch with it all... Cheers folks.
  8. Thanks for the replies guys. I thought I had read someone mention that they had to refurb their Rays already so kind of thought that might be the case, it was just the two combined that made me suspicious. The other problem was it's the owner's girlfriend who's selling it so she doesn't know all the details unfortunately. The other thing I forgot to ask before was about listening to the engine. From the two I've heard with the bonnet up they seemed quite clicky, like the injectors are quite loud, is that usual? Any other under-bonnet things I should look out for other than the usual right oil level when cold and no mayo round the filler? ta.
  9. I know what you're saying about the wheels being refurbed purely because the owner is that way inclined, which is entirely possible considering the little bits here and there like Z valve caps and Z badges and a few other little bits. It was just the combination of the two things that made me a bit unsure. It's not like it didn't self centre at all, but a heel of a lot less than I was expecting as I pulled out. I've not driven another car that I had to correct by hand so much since a 7 I built a few years ago, but even that wasn't as bad as this. I hope it's just a 'feature' of the cars and I'm just being overly sensitive to it as I've hardly driven any. It was a nice car otherwise...
  10. Hi everyone. Went to test drive a 350z last night, silver, 54 plate, GT, good spec nice car. Firstly Was about to go out for a drive with the owner and my girlfriend turns to me and says "I'll wait here, they're a bit cramped in the back." I looked at her. She was being serious. I laughed ans said, "You're right, there isn't a lot of room in the back." Poor girl. She's looked at a good few with me so I don't know why she's never noticed the lack of seating in the back. So long as she doesn't buy me a rear seat cover for my Birthday I'm happy for her to believe whatever she likes... Anyway, that wasn't why I posted this thread! I noticed something while driving this car I hadn't noticed in the last one I drove and that was an almost complete lack of self centering in the steering. I know it's fairly heavy steering, which I like but I expected after pulling out from a junction and accelerating steadily it would self center, but I found myself pulling it back to avoid driving up the curb. Is this normal or is likely something's wrong? Maybe I'm paranoid but something else I found a bit strange on a 54 plate car was the Rays had been refurb'ed last year. Do they often need refurbing, or should I be thinking it's been smashed or driven hard into a curb somewhere and perhaps damaged some part of the suspension or steering rack, hence the lack of self centering? Cheers everyone.
  11. Hello everybody. Not sure this post will please many 350 owners, especially those looking to sell but I've been looking at buying my first 350 recently and have to say I'm surprised by the price most are listed at. If you think that you can get a brand spanking new 350z from a dealer for around 20K at the moment, why do so many people think their 5 or 6 year old car is worth over 12K? It's very rare you'll find a UK car for less than 10K, even none-GT models. Most other cars have taken a big hit in price over the last 6 or so months but this doesn't seem to have affected Zeds (or maybe their owners) to the same extent. I know that everything in life is only worth what people are willing to pay for it, and loads of these cars I can see have been advertised for months on end without moving. So far I've not even been to any dealers to see what they'd accept, mainly because I'd feel like I was insulting them! I just had a quick look on Parkers price guide (not the bible, I admit) and they reckon an '04 GT with 40K on the clock is worth about 9.5k, which I think is much more realistic than PH/Autotrader prices at the moment. What's other people's thoughts on this? Do you think the release of the 370 will have further impact on prices, or will it take until they start showing on the second hand market? Maybe I'm just jealous I can't afford one at the prices they are advertised at but I wouldn't say I was being unreasonable. I will continue to save what I can and look around because they do come up every now and then for less but it seems a strange market at the moment. No offense intended to owners or people looking to sell, but I'd like to hear your thoughts... Matt.
