  1. I found this link: http://www.globaldenso.com/en/products/ ... /spec.html I can see the specs are different but I'm not sure what difference it would make... Damn it! I'm so I bought them from evilBay now
  2. I purchased some Denso Irridium plugs from eBay the other week - full set delivered for under £60 so I was quite happy. I havve noticed since then that Envy supply these at £65 and that they're listed as being 'IKH16' for a standard Zed, and the ones I have have 'IQ22' on the box. If I'd have known I could get these for such a similar price I'd probably have bought them from somewhere I trust but I haven't and now I don't know if they're even the right ones for a N/A 350z, despite being listed as for the 350z on the eBay advert. Anyone have any ideas if they'll be alright or should I try to return them? Cheers!
  3. Hi Alex. Based on the basic kit (alloy plenum spacer, gasket, 6x nylon bolt spacers and few bolts) there's not much of any value other than the plenum material it's self. Do you still think this wouldn't be cost effective? Being that you have the facilities to make these do you have any idea of what grade the alloy they use might be, or something else suitable? I don't mean to be disrespectful by continuing my reasearch after you have said it isn't cost effective but I would like to know where you think the main cost would be. I think like andlid said, if I invested my own cash into manufacturing a few and sold them over time I might be able to make it cost effective, and the whole forum would hopefully benefit from it. For me the plenum spacers are an all-round winner it terms of engine mods (based on what I've read). They're easy to install, improve performance, can improve fuel consumption, would extend the life of the from 2 spark plugs and are relatively straight forward to install (did I already say that? Meh, can't be bothered to delete it now). Even at £200 they're worth-while, I just feel they could be sold at a much lower price than that. They're nearly half the price in the US of A...
  4. Interesting responses. I know getting a one-off made wouldn't be cost/time effectinve but if I could get 10 made at say £100 each and a few people wanted them then I'd be willing to invest the time to sort it out for people. I know the ISO thermal kits include lots of goodies but like I said before the basic spacer does what most people want it for and is one hell of a lot cheaper then a whole new plenum. I know a company quite well who have a made a few nice bits of ally for a kitcar I built a while ago, pullies and brackets etc and their work is top-notch and done at a fair price. I was wondering what people's thoughts on the feasability of manufacturing one based on the fact that from the pictures it appears to be a very basic lump of metal. If it does require another gasket I doubt they're much, or you could use gasket rfom a tube... I've never actually seen one in the metal before so if anyone has could they explain what they think would make this such a difficult piece to manufacture? Thanks for all the reponses so far
  5. I have to say despite this being one of the most upsetting threads I've seen in a while, I've also found it one of the funniest! To me the damage looks deliberate, but even if it's not they'd certainly be aware that they'd done it. And then done it again. And again, then a few more times. I think my head would implode through the frustration of something like this. Probably best to talk to them first I say, see what they're like. If they're honest or polite then try to sort it as reasonably as possible but looking at the amount of times it's happened I'd be very surprised if they were the honest or polite type. In which case hire one of the surprisingly open psychopathic forum users to sort them out for you. I'm not usually the violent sort but I feel revenge would be going around in my head if I were you... Oh and one thing on the CCTV - I heard if you film a public area (like a car park) without permission or some kind of notice then it's actually void as evidence and cannot be used... That's what I heard anyway. Plus you might need 12 hours of recording time! I hope you get it sorted peacefully. Make love, not war
  6. Hmmm, so it might be 'that easy' then... Any ideas if the aluminium would need to be a particular grade? The 'basic' spacer kits just include the plenum spacer and the nylon bolt spacers don't they? Obviously wouldn't be as good as the thermal type but wuold provide what I, and I assume most, buyers would purcahse it for - increase airflow over the front 2 cylinders. Heat soak wouldn't be any worse than without the spacer in the first place as far as I can tell. Doesn't the Motordyne basic spacer just reuse the gasket from the original plenum - no extra gaskets needed?
  7. I was looking at the Motordyne website and thought to myself they look quite straight forward - particularly the basic kit. Does anyone know if the 5/16ths are the same size all the way round or if they slope slighty to one edge? What's stopping me seeing an enginner, giving them a gasket and asking them to make one out of ally at 5/16ths? What's the Motordyne spacer made out of? If anyone knows the answers to these I may look into getting some made up so we can all enjoy the benfits at a cheaper price. Just a thought at the moment, but I'm willing to try one on mine if I can get one made for less than £200, which I'm sure I could... Hmmm...
  8. Ebized - your footer makes me want a nice new Zed
  9. Awesome. Quick replies, thanks... Is it forum rush hour?
  10. Quickie If I send a PM and it sits in my 'Outbox', has it actually been sent? Usually Outbox indicaes it's waiting to be delivered. Just curious because I've sent PMs before that never seemed to be delivered. Ta.
  11. I have done already But when I hadn't logged into my account the 5% discouny had been applied...
  12. Hmmm, I just followed the link, put some 5w/30 into my lovely online basket and went to checkout. As new customer I get 5% discount, and was told I'd get 7.5% off my next order. I ordered some brake fluid last year from Opie so I logged into my exisitng account and my discount was removed I know it's only a couple of quid but why, as a returning customer, do I have to pay more?
  13. Hi mate, I'm after a later style (06+) standard air box mainly because I heard they're better than the standard style on mine (04, UK). What year is your from? Definitely interested if it is the later style... If not then I'll check out the HKS filter you have too Cheers.
  14. If I ever have a problem with my Windows I normally switch it off and back on again... ?
  15. I'm not into modded cars usually, and I'm I'm not especially overwhelmed by this but I do like the boot door and bumper. The front doesn't work imo because the rest of the car is bery flowing and curvy and the front looks like it's crashed into a RR
  16. Just read the post below abut using Halfrauds 5w oil and it reminded me about something I've pondered for a while. I know the basics of the difference between 5w and 10w, but why if Nissan use 10w are so many people putting 5w in their cars? Are the engines not 'setup' to run the 10w (which IMO is more suitable for British weather). What benefits are you expecting by using the thinner oil? Just curious on your opinions...
  17. I was thinking about doing something similar to yours Nixy, but I had a feeling behind the usual numberplate mount thing there were some huge massive great big holes in the bumper that are huge, big and massive. Mine's a UK but I guess they're the same (minues the washer jets). Are these holes real or a figment of my over active imagination? Looks without the mounting things...
  18. I'm looking at importing some splash guards from the US seeing as they comes painted, but I'm confused as to what colour I need - America seemed to get a lot more silvers/greys than the UK... I have a blade (?) silver, ie not GM (primer ). Any ideas what that would be in American Nissan language? Cheers me fellow eggs.
  19. Just got a quote for my front end because I've got a 3" square hole in my laquer on the bonnet, and the bumper has a scuff since before I bought it... £400 Then I asked about the rear end - someone at work scratched and slightly dented the rear quarter abover the petrol filler, plus there's a few scratches on the rear bumper - £250 for the bumper & rear quarter. A bit more reasonable. What's everyone think about the £400 for the front end. Sounds a lot to me, especially considering I asked if he'd take the front bumper off and he said no. Said the cost was because he'd be blending it into the wings, but still... I'll get a comparative quote but thought someone else on here must have had similar work done at some point. Do you ever get the feeling you're being ripped off because you drive a sports car so they assume you're made of money? Or stupid.
  20. Hmmm, the only one is praises & woes is Mansfield. I'm not surprised - I didn't even bother ringing them. Think Manchester is a tad too far from me - over an hour and a half drive.
  21. So I'm changing my spark plugs very soon, looking at the Denso Iridium, as that seems to be what everyone else goes with. Usually this would call for a gap setting up on the plug but I can't find any info on this. Do they not need to be set/changed, or is this some un-written secret measurement which I should have been informed of by the previous owner when I purchsaed my car? Cheers guys. (and gurls)
  22. Just rang Ilkeston Nissan as it's the closest to me and seeing as I have FNSH I thought it may be nice to kep it. Basic P2 = £296.19 £300 for a P2 service? That includes £55 for oil, £13.81 for air filter, £8 for brake fluid and £30 labour and £34.99 ofr engine flush and fuel treatment. Expensquive for a Nissan stamp I think. I can't understand why they can charge so much for what is basically an oil change. Does anyone know a decent service centre near Nottingham/Mansfield/Derby area?
  23. I have my P2 service due next month and the car's done 55k now. I'd rahter not pay the nice people at the service garage to do any extras I can do myself. So I'm going to change the plugs, air filter and brake fluid myself, let them do the oil etc and stamp my book. So this leads me to ask two questions. In the past when I've changed plugs on my cars I've changed the HT leads too but nobody's mentioned that on here. Is that because in the past I've owned cars older than me and with this car being a 2004 the leads should still be okay? I guess so. The other thing is I was thinking about fitting th MD 5/16s plenum spacer, purely to preserve my new investment in spark plugs Does anyone in the UK supply these, and what is the difference between the ISO/copper versions of the spacer? I looked on the MD website but couldn't really make sense of it. I'm guessing unless you're talking highly tuned engines it makes little difference when considering the price. Thank you all of you good eggs.
  24. Hiya. I'm actually on the look-out for a good body shop around Notts (or anywhere in the Midlands) to sort out a few patches on the front of mine too so let me know if you do find anywhere. There's a place just down the road from my work (J28 M1) called P&L who have mustangs, some classics and other bits and pieces outside quite often, my mum got her Puma sorted there too. Might get a quote because they seem to do a good job. Read up on 5.1 brake fluid -I did and went for dot 4 in the end... And I'd recommend getting your allignment done ASAP after fitting new tyres or they may be knackered before you get round to checking...
  25. A-maze-ing. Love Mk1 capris. Used to have a face-lift Mk1. Bright orange, 4 litre V8 range rover engine, massive 4 barrel carb on and a 1.6 diff on the back I swear to go I will own it again one day The only compensation I have for selling it is all the money I saved to spend on it (fitting the TVR engine I bought, respray, pan-hard etc) I spent on my 350z instead Had a Mk3 before that, not as good looking but just as much fun. I'm jealous.
