  1. the company making them is already on the case of that, especially after all the work gone into it, I was hoping them Americans would go easy on me, turns out they like it as much as I do, they are mainly askin a couple of questions about heat, strength just like you guys, it's gone down a treat, a few have already asked about shipping over there I've asked Adam if he has any contacts over here that could test it, I've had the car out again today with no problems
  2. Gone down pretty dam well on my350, the Americans like it and want them, getting some good advice from Adam from z1 regarding testing
  3. The kinetix just has one stabilizer bar but then again it's got ridges going crossways to that I think gives it the strength
  4. Plenum raising? I'm lost on my own thread now
  5. The supports are there for a reason, if we didn't need them we wouldn't have put them in, I was very suprised to see a 5mm thick plenum be sucked in by over an inch, hence the reason for the supports and extra layers, the airflow is not really affected I wouldn't think? The supports are rounded off to help a smooth airflow to the edges of the plenum, and they are in the same places as the oem, all Teheran aftermarket spacers that are used still had these bits because they are places under the oem plenum, they don't seem to be affected? however I can get them made without but Thats upto you, cant imagine it would be guranteed Either if it wasn't to the companys spec
  6. Only messing mark, you come up with some valid points that needed to be addressed. 8-9mm thickness is about 10 layers so it's a hefty bit of kit, and solid as a rock, oil won't be a problem, I did ask that when we was putting it on, I know just driving the car isn't fully testing the plenum but that's the best I can do, if bennet can dyno it, put it on a track etc it should be better, as for the strut, I was planning on spacing it tomorrow, I wouldn't mind putting spacers into the fitting kit but it's getting them made etc, would of done it tonight but it got dark and was raining
  7. I was wondering where all the critics had gone
  8. The spacer is fine angled, it's only a 3mm angle and all the bolts are level it's how it was made, all thought about beforehand, I was copied from another spacer I had so it's ok
  9. Yeah I'm not one for screwing anyone over, I prefer to be honest abouts things as for where I live, it's main a-b roads it was all the way home so it's been tested upto 70 so far, soon as it's settled at tight as it will go I'll rake it further, have no doubts it will withstand the punishment, hopefully if Bennett decides to buy one he will be able to track test it and dyno it
  10. i should be receiving more pictures later so ill try post them up

  12. i go away to america on the 2nd so ill be dropping off the induction pipe, and centre console to get done, also i have interesting plans for the cooling panel, all to come in different threads though
  13. ive not given it some beans yet, im letting it heat up and cool down a few times, so not noticed any increases, when i got home, i found the bolts could be tightened another turn, so ill go out again tommorrow to heat it up and see if they tighten anymore, instead of the gasket we have used vacuum tape, which is bascially like double sided tape but around 1mm thick, except it can take temps of upto 300'c, this is the reason im able to tighten it a little more when its warm, also it makes alot better seal. what im trying to do now is source a cork gasket like the one for the kinetix, so instead of the tape i can supply these with the kit, same with the throttle body. but for the moment it works a treat, a little issue to sort out, is that it sits quite tall so the strut is just catching, so we will be shaving a little off the spacer to stop that, currently the front of the spacer is 10mm and the back 7mm so theres plenty there. this is an easy fix. before payments start ill be running it for a few more days then ill probably start taking orders next week, the guys who made deposits will have the first ones though, its only right
  14. think bennett has offered to do that, so ill knock him some money off if he does so..... ive driven it 26miles home with no problems at, certainly no heat problems, it was still cold when i opened the bonnet, so cant invisage any problems really, the thing is hard as a rock now there are ribs and stabilisers in there, no way its going to crack or shatter, ill keep it going on mine for a few days and bring it sunday so you can have a look for yourselves, certainly is a thing of beauty Pic fitted: Pic of the new underneath, stabilisers and extra layers, also covered in resin to stop splintering:
  15. All sorted, no airleaks, no suckion or flex at all, it is absolutely amazing
  16. Yeah 8-9mm thick in the top part, with 2 robs and 2 stabilisers, if it's going to hold when the car is at it's coldest, will have no problems when it's warm
  17. Yeah that's what we are using as moulds then putting them in the same place
  18. I now understand what guys were talking about when they mention vacuum... The plenum was all put in and ready then we turned the car on.... It sucked the carbon in, granted the engine was cold and at about 3000 revs, but te good thing about it, was that in no where near breaking point.. At the moment, we have currenty put ribs on the inside and coated over so it's still smooth, and ate currently making 6 stands for the inside to make sure it doesn't flex, so now the plenum is approx 8-9mm, strong isn't the word
  19. Just at the workshop now fitting it, can't say much about it yet but I'm working a deal so I WILL NOT own the plenum or it's rights, but I would work on a commission on selling them, this way all the responsabilty would be on the company making them, which they seem happy with as they do believe these will not break during usage obviously I will get all this in writing I'll keep you updated along the way.....
  20. Hopefully this will be all fitted tommorrow so people can see it at the howden meet if their interested
  21. Couple of extra points.. It does have resin on the inside already, it will be smoothed out a bit yet to make it a little better, the plenum I have been told will be able to cope with upto 600 'c, the weight of it is 1.67kg compared to the oem 4.11kg, If anyone has any ideas how you would like this testing on my car I'm open to suggestions, dyno maybe a good idea, before and after..
  22. its a bit rough round the egdes, but its the first one, and it will be sorted
  23. why didnt i get all this advice in the first place when i first put this thread up, everyone seems to have waited until it was made
  24. just received the plenum.... theres only 1 join on the whole thing so the chances of it splitting are minimal, if it did split, you would notice straight away, you would even notice a little crack in it as idle would be all over the place, the carbon is 5-6mm thick so it extra strong, i took a picture of patrick standing on it on concrete, and it didnt even flex, then he jumped on it, again, no flex, the spacer which is the thick black bit all the way round, is NOT hollow, so its like a chunk of metal except alot lighter, patrick told me, that it wouldnt shatter, and chances of it breaking are extremally small, he said it would take a fair few sledgehammer hits to get it too break, but thats upto him if he wants to prove it, pics to come
  25. im pretty certain it will be, its all these it's and but's thats throwing a spanner in the works, which is all a very important and valid point, ill be putting this on my car, then i can tell you if its worked for me or not, then its up to you guys? the only reason it would be described as show use is for the intention of insurances etc ill be recieving one soon, ill put an excessive amount or pictures up, and ill ask questions, if patrick is delivering it about how thick it is, ratio of carbon to resin, ill asking him about cracking etc, hopefully it should give us an indication of how strong it will be, and if its upto him or me about the insurance, in a way im only the middle man, ill have to get some proper advice
