  1. Anoter suggestion - and it depends upon your definition of 'family car' - I agreed that this meant 'it has 4 doors' with my wife but she still veto's the mazda Rx-8. Worth a go though :-)
  2. It's like a part only bigger. Dang this microsift sword.
  3. Just a update - it's been almost a month now and problem is still fixed. Could be just my player - but £12 even for a temporary fix assuming cold brings problem back is well worth it in my humble opinion :-)
  4. If space is no issue and it sounds like the engine noise is more important than the badge - how about a Honda NSX? Good mix of reliability, pace and individuality..... in my humble opinion Maserati 4200 is good suggestino, I think these are stunning looking cars that really stand out among the rep mobiles.
  5. Once this kicks off - it would be great to see some pictures!
  6. I agree, I do like this car but despite all the talk of 'revoknuckle' etc. when took an RS round a track (birthday thing) I didn;t feel as in control as I do in the Zed. It might have been different if I had more time to get use to it though and it is very liekly my driving.... Having said that - the following car was a R35 GTR and felt at home immediately. Absolutely threw it round the track at ridiculous speeds but never thought 'I'm going to die' which I did on a couple of occasions in the RS (and on every corner is in the Caterham Superlight.
  7. After the 350Z you might be a bit disappointed with the the Porsche and the S200. Both are good cars & of course it is down to preference and what you are looking for age of car/driving experience etc. just in case you were looking to scratch a 'more grunty engine' itch - Have you driven any TVRs? Varation in type (and individual car!) is enormous but if you read up know what to look for and buy a good one - lordy their ALL quick and fun. If you wanted to go even more hardcore - a caterham is also good fun. If you want somethin a bit more refined that can still be a bit of a hooligan then how about an Audi RS4? The world's your lobster Rodders
  8. You tube clip for anyone thinking about buying a 350Z opposed to a TT..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKn1pQqFlL8 Always liked Tiff ......
  9. As pasrt of my job I have to monitor advertising complaints - can get quite boring but there are occasional gems. A flyer for a nighclub (promoting dyslexia awarenes) was complained about because it had a jok on it..... Two dyslexic chefs walk into the kitchen, one says "can you smell gas" the other says "I can't even smell my own name"
  10. Also, really important (for me at least) servicing customer service is best I've had. All servicing is electronically logged so it's really easy to check up on these - just phone any dealer with the Reg. Mine is still in warranty (just) and the guy suggested booking it in for a full over health check and then seeing if there were any 'under warranty' items. All for an hours labour. Nisasn have been touch and go on the servicing front for me so it's something that makes a big difference when you fork out for a car. You do have to contend with about 25ish MPG though, depending on driving......... but the looks on BMW drivers faces as you jsut pull away and keep going is priceless.
  11. has anyone got any pics of these wheels on a 350Z - is it a straight swap?
  12. You might be pushing the 12K a bit but not by much. Mazda Cx-7 is absolutely top notch. I test drove loads including Subaru Forester (couldn't find a litchfield as this would prob have been top choice), Nissan Murano & X-trail, Honda CRV's, 5 series estate. Mazda was head and shoulders above all of these. Loads of kit, well built, no roll & 260 horses LOADS of space and comfy.
  13. Don't worry. It's a distinct possibility you'll be proved right eventually R35 LEE is really really busy at the moment and I think appointments might be as rare as rocking horse poop. In all seriousness though. I read this forum a lot more than I post and the amount of money people spend seems phenomenal. Given the instant and complete effect it had on my CD player I thought it was worth a £13 punt for those that might not be forking out a grand for the latest Ipod Douche & Earbleederz bass bins. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it is a recurring issue that can be fixed or if it was simply delaying the inevitable death of the Pseudo-Bose. The cleaning cycle of the CD take about 20 seconds so a couple of minutes and you have done the whole thing. Unfortunately I have to sell the car soon as I have a baby imminent (2 weeks to B day) - so I won't see if it fixes the problem when it is at it's worst (cold weather). I'm assuming the little brushes on the cleaning CD clear the condensation off the lens? Fingers crossed.
  14. Dear all, Had to share this one, probably tempting fate and invitng a lot of "D'uh" comments but .....if it helps one other person.... My CD was jumping about and generally being a pain in the arse. Spoke to a friend who had the same problem, different car and we had the 'it's a known fault with the 350Z' conversation but I thought I'd try his solution anyway. Am amazed - has completely fixed the problem! http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=27775 £13 delivered!
  15. Ok -so draqgging this back to the topic. The answer is that Lee is still arounf but completely snowed under with work and other stuff? In that case does anyone know if there is anyone else that has some skill fixing these stereos?
  16. Thanks guys, Sounds like I've got a good chance of geting the stereo fixed and a lapdance The irony is that normally I'd be chilled out about this but need to sell the car as wife has got baby on the way [she's due 8th Aug.] & have already bought baby wagon! It's the last thing that needs doing to make car perfect (am really anally retentive about selling a car I would want to buy, just put 2x RE050's on the front, had a service and had the alloys refurbed!) Am gutted as have wanted a Z since 2003 and only had it a year and spent AGES looking for a nice one. in the abence of Lee's magic stero fixing hands - are there any other options beyond forking out £x00's to Nissan? If you sell car with stereo with stereo that jumps every now and then - how much should you knock off the price? Cheers H
  17. A number of people have said Lee is the best person to talk to if your 'Bose' stero is occasionally forgetting it's function - but he hasn't been on here for a while? Also, does anyone know why a PM sits in your 'outbox' and doesn't get sent? Cheers H
  18. Hi, Just thought I'd chuck my opinin in. I have just sold my Mazda 3 to get something bigger. It was a 1.6 D. Now - it won't set the world alight and the plastics aren't the best but it was a great little car, Nothing went wrong, 50mpg and although it is not the fastest it had a fair bit of torque. I really recommend this car if you want a run around that you fill up n' forget. Apparently the old shape mazda 3 MPS wasn't that get, whereas the new shape is pretty good. If you are going for the civic type R get the old shape, or the new shape championship white edition. A friend of mine was a bit disappointed with his new shape standard. If 4 doors is a must .....RX8? and sorry to be boring but.... focus?...(brace for impact). Friend had a 2.0 TDCi and raved about it. Ultimately...drive them all....then buy the fastest Have replaced with a Mazda CX-7 after test driving, Nissan Murano, Honda CRV, Nissan X trail and Subaru Forester. All the toys plus the 260hp engine from the mazda 6 MPS, it looks like a sleepy 4x4. Am blown away by it, is an fantastic everyday car that can fit all the baby paraphernalia + 5 adults. Plus it goes like stink.
  19. Am booking car into Reading Nissan for P1 & a look at my Bose jumpy stereo -will let everyone know how this goes. Does anyone know if the Slough place has changed hands? I took my 200sx there about 4-5 years ago and they were shocking - sheered a bolt off the intercooler and said charged me to get it re-helicoiled. I was told that it was inevitable and although this may or may not be true, the way they told me was shocking - basically 'your car's knacked, tough @*!# - it's £7-800 please' - never went back. Ok had the service & mixed feelings. initial impression - no one wnated to speak to me and I was stood waiting for ages before presence acknowledged. Stupid little thing but it bugs me. Had Z keyring handed back to me as 'these have gone missing' - again good that that it was given to me as a precaution but didn't fill me with confidence. The loan car was empty and I mean fuel guage HARD over past the red. Was looked at like I was a p*adophile when I pointed this out and said I wasn't keen to take a car off the forecourt that was empty & was told 'garage is over there' in a really patronising way. P1 - £230. not sure if this is good or not seemed ok. No added mileage. Was told they had washed the car but which always makes me happy as my car is a dirt magnet. Got there and there were still LOTS of bits all over the bonnet so although it was a nice gesture it was a half arsed job which makes me worry (prob unfairly) what else was done in a half arsed way. When phoned up they were just really rude, like I was asking for a favour not a paying customer. So in short, KJM Reading: technically no specific problem but didn't make me feel like they would look after my car - I wouldn't go back.
  20. Hi - I'm pretty sure I'll take these if they are still abvailable. Would it be possible to pop round and take a look? i want to make 100% sure these are the right ones for me. I live in Sandhurst so am not far away. My number is 07525 766148. Cheers Henry
  21. great - many thanks guys, much appreciated. I've never done the 'import from abroad' thing so I'd need to fork out the £127 to the seller then the £22 postage and then there will be an import duty of some kind (is this the same as VAT? i.e 15%) Plus these look as though they are JDM spec - does this matter? Thanks for the tip regarding the forum member selling these. I do tend to prefer the 'safer' option (good feedback from other forum members plus confirmed UK spec) but am also not rich enough to totally ignore prices unfortunately....well until my lottery win tomorrow anyway
  22. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/02-05-Nissan-350Z ... otohosting Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this - but has anyone bought these? Seems too good to be true - or is that me being a hopeless sceptic? I have a 2006 model (non-LED) and think the LEDs look better (IMHO) and saw these on ebay.
  23. I've only just bought my March 2006 350 (276 version - no LED back lights etc) and found this a really really useful topic as I'm looking (like many others I imagine) for modest and simple modifications to optimise what I have. (If I had the 10K+ to do serious modifications I'd probably buy another car). As I'm a 350 newbie I've just started using this site to find out information, but as always this is really time consuming and although it's really useful you inevitably end up with more questions having read a number of posts. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this forum cater for all 350z owners with a broad spectrum of knowledge? I have to say that posts like that near the top of this thread really put any newcomers off from asking questions, is really unproductive and just unnecessary. People come here for guidance - not to be slapped down with a 'I know more than yaaoouu' attitude. Having read this through though I can see that the ratio of friendly helpful people to elitest tw*ts is skewed massively toward the former. I'm looking forward to hearing how you get on with fitting the spacer as I'm deciding what to do myself.
  24. My lovely wife bought me a track day experience a couple of weeks ago as a surprise birthday present. I got to drive a GTR, after 2 laps round the track I was absolutely flying - I can tell you hand on heart that this is an AMAZING car. Much much better than I expected and so easy to drive stupidly quickly. Was overtaking F430 Scuderia & Murcielago & was still grinning hours later. Now to start saving.
